Peter Ronquillo. Exterior view. Peter studied Rietveld's use of light in the Schroeder House and designed a pavillion where light pushes through a regular box and creates a series of solids that organize the circulation.
This event brought together a panel of three leading economists—Thomas Piketty, Kevin Murphy, and Steven Durlauf—to discuss the sources of the rise in inequality in advanced industrialized countries over the past 40 years, the problems it poses, and effective responses. Either way, our capacity to feel the grain makes the contrasts worthwhile.

Understanding Zeiss Camera Lenses
This image is As-It-Was-Shot with no post production whatsoever. The result is quite spectacular —unlike I have seen with other lenses. Optics are Wow with no visible distortion towards the edges.

Another cold, rainy day in Vancouver, I almost didn't find someone in time, until I met Eric at about 11:50pm, on the corner of Broadway and Granville St.
Eric would describe himself as honest and understanding.
This is Matt Hulon, an incredibley talented Opera Singer in the Waco-Temple-Belton area, and an incredibley understanding guy. I say understanding because he was the very first person to ever let me photograph them. He is a friend of my sister who mentioned in passing that she has a brother who is interested in photography, so he gives me a call, and we set up a time and meeting place to do the portraits.
This was months before I had taken any profesional assignment ever, and all I photographed was landscapes, conceptual stuff and other things that did not require me to talk to people. things that you could take your time on, wait for light, scrap an idea and go somewere else without someone looking at me like I was the dumbest human on the planet.
Yeah... not only was I clueless (was? am. am is much more appropriate in this sentence) on how to make a good portrait, I was terrified out of my mind. "Oh God, I'm going to mess this up, people are going to find out i actually suck at this, that I just get lucky, I have no idea Oh God Oh God shit shit shit the sky is falling, the end is nigh!" seems to be the only thing that I remeber thinking the entire time when we first met. got home, looked at the pictures, and they turned out all right.... hell, they turned out pretty good, and I told him after I gave him that set that I would do his portraits for free if I ever go anywhere with this. This is a photo of our second session. this offer still stands.

The McGee group is going to the ends of the earth to understand how precipitation patterns respond to climate change. Recognizing that past changes provide unique opportunities to test our understanding of the climate system, the group is building high-resolution records of past precipitation changes in sensitive regions around the world using natural precipitation archives such as lake deposits and stalagmites. In the past two years this work has taken the group to shorelines preserving records of large ancient lakes in the deserts of the western U.S. and subtropical South America, to caves in the Yucatan peninsula and deep inside islands in Vietnam's Ha Long Bay, and onto a drill rig sampling deeply buried lake sediments in the high tropical Andes.

From summit diplomacy to sports diplomacy, the role of public diplomacy continues to grow when it comes to security challenges on the Korean Peninsula. In the Western hemisphere, many questions arise: How does the American public view U.S. policy toward North Korea and the core issue of denuclearization? How critical is public diplomacy in dealing with these tensions? What diplomatic options exist for furthering dialogue and rebuilding peace in the region?
The USC Center on Public Diplomacy, the Indiana University Hamilton and Lugar School of Global and International Studies and The International Center brought together leading experts in public opinion and public diplomacy for a timely discussion to broaden our understanding of the critical issues in this volatile region.
