Dear friends, back from a short business trip to Detroit I wish you all a great weekend!

I took the chance for a bit of sightseeing in downtown Detroit. The weather at this Sunday was not really good as the raindrops on the glass roof underlines. But the building was really impressive...

 

The Renaissance Center (also known as the GM Renaissance Center and nicknamed the RenCen) is a group of seven interconnected skyscrapers in Downtown Detroit, Michigan, United States. Located on the International Riverfront, the Renaissance Center complex is owned by General Motors as its world headquarters. The central tower, the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center, is the third tallest all-hotel skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere. It has been the tallest building in Michigan since it was erected in 1977.

As for the engine, the power is 10.8 megawatts, for a cruising speed of 23.5 knots, with peaks of 25 knots.

I live near Canal Lachiine. Sometimes we go to the end of it. Mighty river on one side, on the other VIlle de Lachine. I prefer the landscape without foleage. It carries a kind of melancholic feeling that I tried to underline with using some split toning in Darktable.

I got the info that the old mechanical semaphores were removed today (see publication date, 9.01.2025) at Polanica-Zdrój station (the railway line no. 309 from Kłodzko Nowe to Kudowa-Zdrój). The line is nowadays under reconstruction due to heavy damage it had suffered, caused by the great flooding of Southern Poland in September of 2024. A couple of kilometers of truck up from Kłodzko towards Kudowa, aswell as the station in Polanica have been heavily damaged or washed away.

BTW some terminology, a quick guide to Polish resort names: you may translate this addiction "Zdrój" as "Spa" or "Springs" (or the German 'Bad', just like in the station's old name - Altheide Bad), something added extra to the name to underline the special character of the town, being officially a place where certain medical ailments are treated with natural remedies coming from the nature of the given area).

Brush Bronzewing

Scientific Name: Phaps elegans

Description: The Brush Bronzewing is a dark olive-brown above with rich chestnut nape and shoulders, with blue-grey underparts. There are two curved bronze irridescent blue-green bars across each wing. A dark, chestnut stripe through eyes, underlined by white and a chestnut throat patch are distinguishing features. The male has a chestnut forehead. The female lacks the forehead patch and is generally duller.

Similar species: The Common Bronzewing is similar to the Brush Bronzewing but smaller and lacks the scaly pattern on the wings. The Common Bronzewing lacks the dark line through the eye and the throat patch, and the male has a buff forehead.

Distribution: This species occurs around the coast from Fraser Island and adjacent mainland Qld, round to the Eyre Peninsula in SA, although absent just north of the NSW border and at the top of the Spencer Gulf in SA. A geographically separate population occupies the southwest corner of WA, and the species also occurs in Tasmania and coastal islands.

Habitat: The Brush Bronzewing inhabits areas with a dense shrub layer, and so can occur in the grassy heathlands near the coast and behind sand dunes, or further inland in wet or dry forests or woodlands including dense mallee.

Feeding: These birds feed exclusively on the ground on seeds of various plants. They are most commonly seen as singles or pairs, with flocking being a rarely-reported occurrence and then only of less than 10 birds at a time. They drink at dawn or dusk, alighting some distance from the water then cautiously making their way to the edge to drink.

Breeding: While October to January is the most likely time to find nests, these fragile, slightly cupped platforms of twigs and sticks have been found with eggs or chicks in every month. The female builds the nest on the ground or in trees but more commonly in dense brush. Once the two eggs are laid, the female incubates during the day. Little is known about wild birds, but those in captivity sit for 15-18 days before the chicks hatch. The chicks fledge at about 16 days and the young remain with their parents until they nest again, which can be as little as 3 to 4 weeks later.

Calls: low repeated hoop or whoo, can continue for minutes.

Plethora of P’s - This particular photograph took plenty of prior planning. While there are no prohibited pens, pencils, or paper clips in the picture, there is proof of their prior presence. The pastel Post-it has “Plethora” printed on the pale yellow paper with a pen (and underlined with a paper clip impression) to portray all of the “P” words pictured. The background piece of paper is a print of a pen-and-ink drawing highlighted with colored pencil. This pointillism portrait of the proud predator is a profile pose featuring a protruding beak, pink tongue, piercing pupil, and plentiful plumage. The technical pen pieces (plastic cap and purple point), pencil sharpener (with pencil shavings and phillips screw), and pink pencil eraser were precisely placed. I am positive I missed a few P’s, so pipe in if you perceive others. - HMM

It is a long time ago that we had so much snow in Upper Bavaria (what is geographically the southern part of Bavaria) and especially in the Alps. I was not sure where and even if it was possible to do my first snow shoe hike in the mountains. Many roads where closed and there was quite a danger of avalanches and snow breakage. I was able to drive a good distance up into the Sudelfeld area with my 4whealer - all the way to the Tatzelwurm region with its wonderful waterfalls... put on my snowshoes, shouldered my photo backpack and off we went ...

The snow was so high that I could only make a small round - but it was worth it - it was really a breathtaking winter dream - just right for my children's and photographer's heart :-)

 

Here you can see the snowy Auerbach creek below the waterfalls ...I have stitched 2 high-res landscape format 200mm photographs for this panorama image - and ended up in this square format that underlines the calm atmosphere.

 

Winterparadies - Tatzelwurm, Bayern

Es ist lange her, dass wir in Oberbayern und vor allem in den Alpen so viel Schnee hatten. Ich war mir nicht sicher, wo und ob es überhaupt möglich war, meine erste Schneeschuhwanderung in den Bergen zu unternehmen. Viele Straßen waren gesperrt und es bestand Gefahr für Lawinen und Schneebrüche.

Ich konnte mit meinem Allradfahrzeug ein gutes Stück weit hoch ins Sudelfeld fahren - bis hin zur Tatzelwurmregion mit ihren schönen Wasserfällen...zog meine Schneeschuhe an, schulterte meinen Fotorucksack und los ging es...

Der Schnee lag so hoch, dass ich nur eine kleine Runde drehen konnte - aber es hat sich gelohnt - es war echt ein atemberaubender Wintertraum - genau das Richtige für mein Kinder- und Fotografenherz. Hier könnt ihr den total verschneiten Auerbach unterhalb der Wasserfälle sehen...

 

Für dieses Panoramabild habe ich 2 hochauflösende 200-mm-Querformatfotos zusammengefügt - und bin so bei einem quadratischen Format gelandet, das die ruhige Atmosphäre unterstreicht.

Vicente Casares

 

Vicente Casares es una localidad del Partido de Cañuelas, Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina.

 

Lleva ese nombre en homenaje a Vicente Lorenzo del Rosario Casares, fundador de la estancia “San Martín” y de la primera industria láctea de la Argentina, La Martona.

Cuenta con 787 habitantes (INDEC, 2010), lo que representa un incremento del 25% frente a los 629 habitantes (INDEC, 2001) del censo anterior.

El nombre "La Martona" deriva de "Marta", la fornida hermana de don Vicente y madre del escritor Adolfo Bioy Casares.

La fábrica –que aún se conserva frente a la estación ferroviaria de Vicente Casares, en el partido de Cañuelas– procesaba la leche proveniente de 52 tambos distribuidos en las 7 mil hectáreas de la estancia San Martín.

Su imagen característica era la cabeza estilizada de un gato, la marca que se utilizaba para herrar el ganado.

En 1886 Casares dio los primeros pasos mediante la producción de quesos, pero los resultados no fueron exitosos porque no existían buenos métodos de refrigeración.

Tres años más tarde surgió La Martona, con una idea fundamental, novedosa en el país: su proyecto consistía en organizar un sistema integrado de producción, que atendiera las tres etapas productivas: la agropecuaria, la industrial y la comercial.

En el aspecto productivo, La Martona se caracterizó por sus grandes avances tecnológicos. Desde 1890 utilizó papel sulfurizado para envasar la manteca (antes de eso se usaban trozos de tela). En 1893 inició las primeras exportaciones de este producto hacia Inglaterra.

En 1902 comenzó a producir dulce de leche en forma industrial siguiendo las recetas tradicionales de la colonia.

Hacia el año 1916 adquirió la primera desnatadora Westfalia que hubo en el país, traída desde Oelde, Alemania. En 1941 –antes que en Estados Unidos– implementó los camiones térmicos para recolectar la leche en los tambos.

En 1960 instaló una empaquetadora de manteca de alta velocidad; en 1961 introdujo el envase de cartón para la leche fluida; y en 1962 instaló la primera embotelladora en el país capaz de llenar y cerrar 12.000 botellas por hora. En los ‘70 desarrolló, en forma pionera, el yogur con colchón de frutas y el jugo de naranjas en botellón de vidrio.

El periodista francés Jules Hert, en una visita que realizó a Cañuelas en 1911, escribía: "Debo subrayar el hecho de que el establecimiento La Martona sobrepasa en el tratamiento higiénico de la leche a todos los de las capitales europeas, excepto Copenhague. La gran lechería Balle que distribuye a Berlín la mayor parte de la leche de consumo no llega a tal grado de perfección sino después de la del Sr. Casares".

Todos estos antecedentes propiciaron que en el año 1989 -a cien años de la creación de La Martona- la Honorable Cámara de Diputados de la Nación declarara por unanimidad a Cañuelas Cuna Nacional de la Industria Lechera (Res. 28/9/89). La fecha se recuerda cada 27 de noviembre.

Vicente Casares is a locality of the Party of Cañuelas, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

 

It bears that name in tribute to Vicente Lorenzo del Rosario Casares, founder of the estancia "San Martín" and the first dairy industry of Argentina, La Martona.

It has 787 inhabitants (INDEC, 2010), which represents an increase of 25% compared to the 629 inhabitants (INDEC, 2001) of the previous census.

The name "La Martona" derives from "Marta", the fornida sister of Don Vicente and mother of the writer Adolfo Bioy Casares.

The factory - which is still conserved in front of the Vicente Casares railway station in the Cañuelas party - processed the milk from 52 dairies distributed on the 7,000 hectares of the San Martín estancia.

Three years later La Martona was born, with a fundamental idea, new in the country: its project was to organize an integrated production system, which would take care of the three productive stages: agricultural, industrial and commercial.

In the productive aspect, La Martona was characterized by its great technological advances. From 1890 he used sulfurized paper to package the butter (before that pieces of cloth were used). In 1893 began the first exports of this product towards England.

In 1902 began to produce dulce de leche in industrial form following the traditional recipes of the colony.

Towards the year 1916 acquired the first skimmer Westfalia that had in the country, brought from Oelde, Germany. In 1941 - before in the United States - it implemented the thermal trucks to collect milk in the tambos.

In 1960 he installed a high-speed butter packer; in 1961 he introduced the carton for fluid milk; and in 1962 installed the first bottler in the country capable of filling and closing 12,000 bottles per hour. In the 1970s he developed, in a pioneering way, the yogurt with fruit cushion and the juice of oranges in glass bottle.

The French journalist Jules Hert, in a visit he made to Cañuelas in 1911, wrote: "I must underline the fact that the La Martona establishment surpasses all the European capital cities except Copenhagen in the hygienic treatment of milk. Balle dairy which distributes most of consumer milk to Berlin does not reach such perfection as after that of Mr. Casares. "

All these antecedents led to the fact that in 1989, one hundred years after the creation of La Martona, the Honorable Chamber of Deputies of the Nation unanimously declared to Cañuelas the National Cradle of the Milk Industry (Res. 28/9/89). The date is remembered every 27 November.

The scene represents a probable business man in contrast with a group of people about to exit a small illuminated tunnel, an attraction for many tourists. The man is apparently in a hurry, with his briefcase in hand and his trench coat to underline his professionalism. The words "We work" want to emphasize today's society, where work is perceived in a more flexible way than in the past, although not everywhere.

For Lancia, the Aprilia, produced from 1937 - 1949, simultaneously marked the end of one era and the beginning of another. Technologically speaking, this was a supremely refined model, with a load-bearing body, a compact narrow V engine, independent suspension on all four wheels and extremely innovative aerodynamic lines.

 

During the 1920s, the invention of wind tunnels allowed industrial designers to seek new levels of performance for motor vehicles by improving their aerodynamics. In the United States, “streamline design” was all the rage, a trend for producing sinuous and aerodynamic lines, starting with airplanes, then trains and then cars, increasing their speed but also emphasizing their extravagant stylistic features.

 

This movement reached Italy in the 1930s when streamlining, a symbol of modernity, inspired the lines of the new Lancia Aprilia. But compared to the American style, Vincenzo Lancia’s trusted designer Battista Falchetto - who had shared the honors for the stunning design of the Lambda - created a car with fewer frills and more concrete lines, aimed at improving aerodynamics. The grille and windscreen were therefore slightly inclined, and the egg shape - considered at the time the most efficient profile from an aerodynamic point of view - gave character to the rear part. The compact and streamlined bonnet was made possible by the small size of the narrow V engine... an authentic concentrate of technology. It consisted of a light alloy monobloc with cast iron barrels, V valves controlled by rockers moved by an overhead camshaft and a hemispherical top on the combustion chamber. With only 1,352 cc it generated 48 HP which, thanks also to a total weight of only 850 kg, plus an excellent aerodynamic coefficient of just 0.47, thrust the Aprilia up to 125 km/h.

 

The Aprilia was a true Piedmontese aristocrat, refined and precise in every detail. Its famous four pillarless doors, a true Lancia icon, also have an extraordinary curved profile and invisible hinges. The famous click - the sound of the doors closing - underlined the scrupulous attention to the smallest details in design and assembly which typified Lancia’s outstanding modus operandi, providing an unforgettable grace note. The interiors, especially in the Luxury version, featured a classy geometric instrument panel on a grey background with black and white graphics: the square speedometer and clock perfectly matched with the rectangles chosen for the thermometer and the fuel gauge. The Lancia cloth upholstery (available on request in leather), the door panels, the roof covering and the rubber mats were the final touches of a creation which was the closest possible motorcar version of the classic Turin interiors of the period.

 

Its extremely low weight was mainly due to the load-bearing body: a Lancia patent - first seen in the 1920s on the Lambda - which, by overcoming the classic architecture which kept the chassis and bodywork separate, improved torsional rigidity and significantly reduced volumes. The independent suspension on all four wheels, with rear transversal leaf spring and front coil springs, enabled the Lancia Aprilia to offer road grip and passenger comfort that was much superior to most of its contemporary rivals.

 

The Lancia Aprilia contained all the most innovative and refined technical solutions that were so dear to Vincenzo Lancia. It constituted a pinnacle of motorcar production, carried out under the direct supervision of the founder of the Turin company. The name of the car came from that of an ancient Lazio town: a characteristic that linked it to its predecessors, the Artena and the Astura.

The Lancia Aprilia was presented to the public at the thirtieth edition of the Paris Motor Show, in October 1936. On February 15, 1937 its creator had a sudden and fatal heart attack, just before the car went into production. He was only 55 years old. Thus the Aprilia became universally seen as the spiritual testament of Vincenzo Lancia, becoming a huge commercial success, which continued even after the adversities of the second World War.

The first series of the Lancia Aprilia was produced from 1937 to 1939 in 10,354 units: a Sedan in standard and Luxury trims, to which were added 4,350 chassis for custom-made versions, on which the best Italian coachbuilders reveled in producing streamlined and elegant spiders and cabriolets. Pinin Farina's aerodynamic coupé was highly original, with its characteristic flattened muzzle, the central position of the 2 + 2 passenger compartment and an elegant tail.

Two years after the start of production, the second series was born, characterized by the increase in displacement to 1,486 cc. The power remained unchanged, but this improved the elasticity of the engine and the maximum speed. Despite a weight increase to 950 kg, it gained 1 km/h. In the decade from 1939-1949, 11,082 sedans were produced plus 2,252 chassis for coachbuilders.

The production of the Aprilia continued - with a further 703 exemplars - even after the Second World War, a period in which the model, despite being almost ten years old, could still be proud of its highly modern mechanics and settings. It held its place in the market right up to the last days of production, and in racing it remained the undisputed dominator of the Tourism class up to 1500 cc for years: it also triumphed in the Mille Miglia of 1947 thanks to its powerful acceleration and peerless road holding.

To this day, more than eighty years after its presentation, the Aprilia is considered a timeless pioneering car which, by gathering all the best of Lancia’s innovative philosophy, inaugurated a new era in motoring. Vincenzo Lancia was usually hypercritical about his cars, but after test driving the Aprilia prototype he spontaneously exclaimed: "What a magnificent car!".

I had never been to this well-known spot between Thun and Spiez, even though I had been on the spot for the opposite direction five years ago. Here, ICE 4 no. 9024 (or 412 024), literally underlining how green train travel is, is passing Lake Thun on its way from Berlin Ostbf to Interlaken Ost. Einigen, 21-08-2020.

This area is popular with hikers and photographers for its breathtaking views and historical value. The church is an important national symbol of Georgia and attracts many pilgrims and tourists every year. Ascension Church (1535)

The church reaches toward the sky from a low cross-shaped podklet (ground floor), followed by a prolonged chetverik (octagonal body, and then an octagonal tent, crowned by a tiny dome. The narrow pilasters on the sides of the chetverik, the arrow-shaped window frames, the three tiers of the kokoshniks and the quiet rhythm of stair arcades and open galleries underline the dynamic tendency of this masterpiece of the Russian architecture. The whole vertical composition is believed to have been borrowed from hipped roof-style wooden churches of the Russian North. Recognizing its outstanding value for humanity, UNESCO decided to inscribe the church on the World Heritage List in 1994.

For Lancia, the Aprilia, produced from 1937 - 1949, simultaneously marked the end of one era and the beginning of another. Technologically speaking, this was a supremely refined model, with a load-bearing body, a compact narrow V engine, independent suspension on all four wheels and extremely innovative aerodynamic lines.

 

During the 1920s, the invention of wind tunnels allowed industrial designers to seek new levels of performance for motor vehicles by improving their aerodynamics. In the United States, “streamline design” was all the rage, a trend for producing sinuous and aerodynamic lines, starting with airplanes, then trains and then cars, increasing their speed but also emphasizing their extravagant stylistic features.

 

This movement reached Italy in the 1930s when streamlining, a symbol of modernity, inspired the lines of the new Lancia Aprilia. But compared to the American style, Vincenzo Lancia’s trusted designer Battista Falchetto - who had shared the honors for the stunning design of the Lambda - created a car with fewer frills and more concrete lines, aimed at improving aerodynamics. The grille and windscreen were therefore slightly inclined, and the egg shape - considered at the time the most efficient profile from an aerodynamic point of view - gave character to the rear part. The compact and streamlined bonnet was made possible by the small size of the narrow V engine... an authentic concentrate of technology. It consisted of a light alloy monobloc with cast iron barrels, V valves controlled by rockers moved by an overhead camshaft and a hemispherical top on the combustion chamber. With only 1,352 cc it generated 48 HP which, thanks also to a total weight of only 850 kg, plus an excellent aerodynamic coefficient of just 0.47, thrust the Aprilia up to 125 km/h.

 

The Aprilia was a true Piedmontese aristocrat, refined and precise in every detail. Its famous four pillarless doors, a true Lancia icon, also have an extraordinary curved profile and invisible hinges. The famous click - the sound of the doors closing - underlined the scrupulous attention to the smallest details in design and assembly which typified Lancia’s outstanding modus operandi, providing an unforgettable grace note. The interiors, especially in the Luxury version, featured a classy geometric instrument panel on a grey background with black and white graphics: the square speedometer and clock perfectly matched with the rectangles chosen for the thermometer and the fuel gauge. The Lancia cloth upholstery (available on request in leather), the door panels, the roof covering and the rubber mats were the final touches of a creation which was the closest possible motorcar version of the classic Turin interiors of the period.

 

Its extremely low weight was mainly due to the load-bearing body: a Lancia patent - first seen in the 1920s on the Lambda - which, by overcoming the classic architecture which kept the chassis and bodywork separate, improved torsional rigidity and significantly reduced volumes. The independent suspension on all four wheels, with rear transversal leaf spring and front coil springs, enabled the Lancia Aprilia to offer road grip and passenger comfort that was much superior to most of its contemporary rivals.

 

The Lancia Aprilia contained all the most innovative and refined technical solutions that were so dear to Vincenzo Lancia. It constituted a pinnacle of motorcar production, carried out under the direct supervision of the founder of the Turin company. The name of the car came from that of an ancient Lazio town: a characteristic that linked it to its predecessors, the Artena and the Astura.

The Lancia Aprilia was presented to the public at the thirtieth edition of the Paris Motor Show, in October 1936. On February 15, 1937 its creator had a sudden and fatal heart attack, just before the car went into production. He was only 55 years old. Thus the Aprilia became universally seen as the spiritual testament of Vincenzo Lancia, becoming a huge commercial success, which continued even after the adversities of the second World War.

The first series of the Lancia Aprilia was produced from 1937 to 1939 in 10,354 units: a Sedan in standard and Luxury trims, to which were added 4,350 chassis for custom-made versions, on which the best Italian coachbuilders reveled in producing streamlined and elegant spiders and cabriolets. Pinin Farina's aerodynamic coupé was highly original, with its characteristic flattened muzzle, the central position of the 2 + 2 passenger compartment and an elegant tail.

Two years after the start of production, the second series was born, characterized by the increase in displacement to 1,486 cc. The power remained unchanged, but this improved the elasticity of the engine and the maximum speed. Despite a weight increase to 950 kg, it gained 1 km/h. In the decade from 1939-1949, 11,082 sedans were produced plus 2,252 chassis for coachbuilders.

The production of the Aprilia continued - with a further 703 exemplars - even after the Second World War, a period in which the model, despite being almost ten years old, could still be proud of its highly modern mechanics and settings. It held its place in the market right up to the last days of production, and in racing it remained the undisputed dominator of the Tourism class up to 1500 cc for years: it also triumphed in the Mille Miglia of 1947 thanks to its powerful acceleration and peerless road holding.

To this day, more than eighty years after its presentation, the Aprilia is considered a timeless pioneering car which, by gathering all the best of Lancia’s innovative philosophy, inaugurated a new era in motoring. Vincenzo Lancia was usually hypercritical about his cars, but after test driving the Aprilia prototype he spontaneously exclaimed: "What a magnificent car!".

The pedestrian crossings at the intersection of City Centre Drive and Duke of York Boulevard come alive as the walking motion of the iconic pedestrian symbol is animated. Users of the crosswalk set the animation in motion by their own movement across the intersection.

 

The installation is not only meant to underline pedestrian safety and accessibility at this important Mississauga intersection, but also to create an experience that is uniquely “pedestrian”. Ultimately, this piece is a celebration of that experience and an encouragement for people to get out of their cars and onto the street.

The Long-tailed Tit is an adorable, small, fluffy pinkish bird.

The shoulders and underparts are pinkish. The head has a white crown with black marks above the eyes and into the nape. They have red eye rings and a very small black bill. The black and white tail is very long, over half the length of the bird and the longest tail of any British bird in proportion to its body. The legs are black-brown. They feed mostly on insects and their larvae, and spiders, but also on berries.

The Long-tailed Tit's nest is an elastic ball of moss, spiders' webs, lichen, feathers, and hair that is built by both birds in a bush, hedge or tree; brambles and gorse are favourite places. The nest may take up to 3 weeks to build and be lined with more than 2000 feathers.

The female lays and incubates smooth and glossy eggs that are white with purplish-red spots, and are about 14 mm by 10 mm. Both adults feed the newly-hatched young, and are often assisted by other birds, especially males, that have failed to breed that season.

During the breeding seasons this species can experience wide fluctuations in numbers, underlining the role that severe winter weather may play. In extremely bad winters, numbers can fall by 80%.

It is not unusual for active nests to have additional birds present, helping the resident pair to feed and rear the chicks. The Long-tailed Tit is an adorable, small, fluffy pinkish bird.

The shoulders and underparts are pinkish. The head has a white crown with black marks above the eyes and into the nape. They have red eye rings and a very small black bill. The black and white tail is very long, over half the length of the bird and the longest tail of any British bird in proportion to its body. The legs are black-brown. They feed mostly on insects and their larvae, and spiders, but also on berries.

The Long-tailed Tit's nest is an elastic ball of moss, spiders' webs, lichen, feathers, and hair that is built by both birds in a bush, hedge or tree; brambles and gorse are favourite places. The nest may take up to 3 weeks to build and be lined with more than 2000 feathers.

The female lays and incubates smooth and glossy eggs that are white with purplish-red spots, and are about 14 mm by 10 mm. Both adults feed the newly-hatched young, and are often assisted by other birds, especially males, that have failed to breed that season.

During the breeding seasons this species can experience wide fluctuations in numbers, underlining the role that severe winter weather may play. In extremely bad winters, numbers can fall by 80%.

It is not unusual for active nests to have additional birds present, helping the resident pair to feed and rear the chicks. Just one day after the French National Day celebrated PSA Peugeot

Citroën 15 July 2008 the fiftieth anniversary of the plant in Vigo

Spain.

What significance does this work not only for the company, but above

for the Spanish region of Galicia has underlined the presence

Unit of the Spanish King Juan Carlos and his wife Sophie, specially

to the celebrations travelled to Vigo, and on this occasion

the recently modernized plant inspected.

1958, Citroën started in Vigo, 2CV AZU means allocated from France

later also Berlingo and Peugeot Partner.

For this one, I wanted to go with the brown and the gold colors. They underline the warmth and the fierceness of the African continent, and especially Madagascar. I wanted to showcase my ethnic aesthetic here. I hope you like it.

Here's one of the firework displays at Midnight, January 1, 2019. This is right above the medieval Waag on the Nieuwmarkt of Amsterdam.

Fireworks (and gunpowder) in Europe were primarily instruments of war or naval battles - and plots such as Guy Fawkes's - until the seventeenth century, and used in Grand Displays by the powerful and mighty.

But the common people apparently liked fireworks, too, as a kind of divertissement. That's clear from an injunction against fireworks e.g. by the magistrates of Amsterdam in 1645 afraid for fires in the mainly wooden city and of 'other inconveniencies'. It seemed difficult to put an end to the practice; indeed, firework displays were encouraged by the authorities to enhance public feelings of well-being. Treatises of technical and chemical instruction were written to regulate not outlaw the practice. Thus in 1672 a 'D.M.' (identified as a Rotterdam mathematician Daniel Manlyn) published Pyrotechnia of konstige vuur werken (Pyrotechnics or artful fireworks [www.e-rara.ch/zut/content/pageview/3858107]), more or less a translation of a similar English text by John Babington.

An introductory Ode to Fireworks by an unknown "I.L." underlines their usefulnesss and also the aesthetic pleasure they give. Surprisingly, Our Poet commences by saying that 'artful fire' - which gives life to lifeless things - delights him even more than Dame Flora's flowers...

Of course, these discussions continue till the present.

The origin of the monastery dates back to the first half of the eighth century. The cloister’s architecture shows crossed tuff arches on two sides of the portico, stylistic expression of the late fourteenth century, replaced on the other two sides by round arches on octagonal pilasters. Moreover, it is important to underline the presence of several elements from heathen temples, like the three corner columns functionally reused. Beside the convent is situated the Church of S. Francesco which dates back to the sixteenth century. Inside it is possible to admire, in the first of three chapels on the right, a wooden statue representing the Saint with the Crucified, given as a gift by the family Vulcano in the seventeenth century.

l love this time of day, with all the calls you hear but can't see...distant shore line birds such, such as Turnstones, Sanderlings or even a gang of Oyster Catcher grabbing a late night snac...or just prehaps, a lost Lamb calling for it's mother in nearby field...and underlining all this...the sound of silence...my idea of heaven.

Gergeti Trinity Church, located in Georgia, is situated on a mountain top near the village of Gergeti, near Stepantsminda Kazbegi in the Caucasus, at an altitude of about 2,170 meters. This area is popular with hikers and photographers for its breathtaking views and historical value. The Georgian Orthodox church was built in the 14th century and is a beautiful example of medieval Georgian architecture. The church is an important national symbol of Georgia and attracts many pilgrims and tourists every year. Behind Gergeti Trinity Church lies Kazbek (in Georgian: მყინვარწვერი, Mkinvartsveri), with an altitude of 5,054 meters one of the highest and most famous mountains in Georgia and the Greater Caucasus. Although the mountain is hidden in this photo, Kazbek is known for its impressive presence and mythological significance. Kazbek is an extinct stratovolcano. The name Mkinvartsveri means the icy peak in Georgian. The mountain is popular among mountaineers and adventurers. The standard route for climbing usually starts from Stepantsminda, with the Gergeti Trinity Church as the starting point. Kazbek is often covered in snow and ice, which adds to the spectacular and mysterious appearance of the region. On clear days, the summit offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Caucasus.

 

This photo shows Gergeti Trinity Church, one of the most iconic and spiritual sites in Georgia, with the imposing Mount Kuro in the background. The church, which is located at an altitude of approximately 2,170 meters, was built in the 14th century and served as both a religious and defensive center. The location of the monastery makes it particularly special: it stands on a secluded hill with panoramic views of the Caucasus and the nearby village of Stepantsminda. In times of war, the church was used as a shelter for valuable relics, including the famous Mtskheta Cross. Mount Kuro, visible in the background, rises to 3,980 meters and forms a dramatic and rugged frame for this sacred structure. The snow-capped peaks and steep cliffs underline the solitude and grandeur of this place. Today, Gergeti Trinity Church is a popular destination for pilgrims and travelers. The climb to the church can be done on foot, on horseback or by 4x4, and once at the top, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking views over the mountains and valleys of the Caucasus.

It is a very cliche view underlined by the many people that were standing there with me.

But that doesn't take away from the beautiful view.

Capel Celyn, a small chapel on the shore of Llyn Celyn / Afon Tryweryn near Bala in North Wales

 

The valley here was home to one of the last Welsh-only speaking communities in Wales. In 1965, Liverpool council, backed by the UK government, decided to turn the valley into a reservoir to supply water for industry in Liverpool. Welsh MPs voted against the plans, the residents marched in the city and the new dam was bombed in protest. The reservoir still went ahead. The community was forced to move; their homes, school, church and graveyard remain beneath the water. In 1967 this chapel, Capel Celyn, was built on the shore in memorial.

 

The incident underlined the need for devolution of powers to Welsh people and today the Welsh government has the final say on water management in Wales. Liverpool council formally apologised in 2005.

 

The drowning of Tryweryn is referenced in songs by Manic Street Preachers (Ready for drowning) and Enya (Dan y dwr / Under the water).

In the night light this office building looked quite surreal... and transforming it into a B/W image underlines the effect.

Come a sottolineare più e più volte una frase letta in una poesia, o in un libro, che sento mi rappresenti, in queste Polaroid , con il collage e il gesto intenzionale della bruciature, sono andata a sottolineare più è più volte il concetto di Vanitas, implicito nelle nature morte, che sono i miei soggetti dominanti.

 

As if underlining, over and over, a line from a poem or a book that resonates with me, in these Polaroids, I explore through collage and the deliberate gesture of burning, repeatedly highlighting the notion of Vanitas, quietly present in still lifes, which remain my enduring subjects.

The Reception Courtyard is the main courtyard of the Palace, behind whose beautiful Renaissance doorway it opens. The arcaded perimeter underlines its stately character. The stone columns, the semicircular arches, the whitewashed wall on which the blue windows of the upper floor open and the paving in china constitute the balanced architectural framework of the vegetation that adorns it, centered by a palm tree.

 

El Patio de Recibo es el principal del Palacio, tras cuya bella portada renacentista se abre. El perímetro porticado subraya su carácter señorial. Las columnas de piedra, los arcos de medio punto, el encalado paramento sobre el que se abren las azules ventanas de la planta superior y el pavimento enchinado constituyen el equilibrado marco arquitectónico de la vegetación que lo exorna, centrada por una palmera.

The series is consists of 8 images, which were taken at the same river, Yodogawa river, in Osaka.

I have just read in my newspaper about a trial planned in Newcastle - and have only just found out that one of England's most distinctive trees has been felled (already last autumn) by some idiots: the famous sycamore of "Sycamore Gap" on Hadrian's Wall.

 

I love this landscape and I loved this tree too. I am shocked and sad .... The old germanic people as well as native americans considered tree vandalism (Baumfrevel) as a heavy crime - to be punished by the gods... Why do people do so many senseless and destructive things? For me, this is another reason to think about Freud's theory of the death drive:In classical Freudian psychoanalytic theory, the death drive (German: Todestrieb) is the drive toward death and destruction, often expressed through behaviors such as aggression, repetition compulsion, and self-destructiveness.

 

It seems to me that the way we treat people, trees and nature in general in these times underlines Freud's theory very strongly. Will we ever find an inner attitude and a way of life that respects and loves people, fauna and flora - and guarantees every creature space to live, enough food and air to breathe???
