I have finally had some time to process some more of the photos from my 8 day trip with Wayne Pinkston. Here's a shot taken of the tufas at Mono Lake. Mono Lake is located north of the Long Valley Caldera, a 20-mile long depression that is the aftermath of a volcano that erupted 760,000 years ago. In a massive explosion the volcano sent huge volumes of earth and ash into the sky and buried the surrounding area in hundreds of feet of volcanic debris. As a result of the eruption, the land collapsed, creating a 200 square mile depression known today as the Long Valley Caldera. Mono Lake formed soon afterward.

The secret of the fanciful towers is more than banal. In the middle of 19 century, to satisfy the needs in water of Los Angeles they had to take water from the local rivers. As a result, the lake's level dramatically fell by 15 meters uncovered the calciferous-tuff figures from water. The program devoted to the safety of the unique lake the Mono Lake Committee was created in 1978. In 1994, the California State Water Resources Control Board reached a decision which mandated that the lake had to rise to a level of 6,392 feet above sea level. After this the lake's level began to rise and, probably, in future these idols will hide their secrets under the water column again.

Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great week my friends!! :)

The Small Ground-Finch is one of the most common and highly adaptable, as well as widespread of the Darwin’s Finches of the Galapagos Islands. In towns and villages they are found foraging on dusty margins of streets and act very much as would a House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) in other parts of the world. Yet in higher and moister areas they may be seen perched on a Galapagos Tortoise, waiting for bugs or seeds to be uncovered by the movements of the large reptile. This is the smallest and smallest billed of the ground-finches and thus it eats the smallest seeds available.

At long last almost all of the scaffolding has been removed following renovation.

I have high hopes that one day a Mars rover will uncover something like this set of fossilised terrestrial ammonites!

I created a few centimetres of Mars in our dining room with a block of fossils, LED lights and ground coffee. I now have a piece of ancient rock that smells of Starbucks.

During renovation earlier this year these wonderful details and text were uncovered in Rotterdam.

The text tiles read Butter, Milk, Cheese and Eggs and is from 1901. The building is from 1873.

I love how they have renovated this place!

Softly caressing the bare trees

Beauty blow upon the breeze

Filling the air with natures love

As the mist , it floats above

Gently caressing the waiting trees

Filled with beauty ,blown on the breeze

Anyone familiar with the Tiskilwa area will recognize the burned out ruin in the background.I had no idea when wondering the farm property I would come across this great scene.I have to temper the word "great" however-inside that crib behind that vintage car were storage tubs full of the last family's belongings, many of them open to the elements. They were put there apparently after the fire, and have sat there ever since....

On a small building in my brother's neighborhood, which has been used as an office by an architect for 20 or so years. Now he is retired and the building is for sale, for an absolutely crazy high price. Must be the ghost!

"Farming is a profession of hope." _ Brian Brett

While I am patiently waiting for the warmer weather of spring to arrive, I realize that farmers have more at stake than I do if spring is a wetter and cooler season this year. Last weekend we had our snowstorm but this weekend there is hope of two digit temperatures and some sun. There is hope that this will melt the last of our snow and maybe I can play in the garden for a few hours. I need to be careful not to uncover too much debris as some of our pollinators may still be sleeping in the warm underground until it really warms up. However, I just can't resist the urge to get my hands just a little bit dirty this weekend.

I must confess to an act of photographic neglect on our recent cruise. My camera, poor thing, was relegated to cabin duty while I busied myself with the noble art of doing absolutely nothing, paired with the company of good friends.

This iPhone image is of the so-called 'Secret Waterfalls' in Port Vila, Vanuatu. I don’t wish to cast aspersions on the word 'secret,' but when you’re sharing it with approximately a thousand other adventurers off the Ovation of the Seas, it feels less like uncovering a hidden gem and more like an open house. With excellent natural plumbing.

Still, the cascading waterfalls and crystal-clear pools were pretty impressive and provided a refreshing dip.

Cheers to the simple joys!

Taum Sauk State Park, Missouri. We gently lifted up the rock that covered this fella so that we could get cleaner shots. When done, we relocated him to another hospitable area so that the folks who watched us photograph him would not do him harm, as ignorant folks are wont to do with venomous snakes.

The wood was rough beneath me, warm from the sun but cracked and splintered in places like skin that's known both love and time. I let my body settle into the silence, the weight of the day slipping off my shoulders. The air smelled like water and old stories, and I liked the way it clung to my skin . . .There was something freeing about being alone out there, exposed and unseen at the same time. Like I could be anyone. Or just finally be myself..

Trees uncovered under the skies

Rising beautifully, before my eyes

Reaching up to caress the blue

That stretches wide in front of you

Tempting me to explore inside where my sweetheart, she does hide

Waiting to kiss . my passionate lips

As between the bare trees, our love now slips
