this girl was probably about 4 or 5. She took care of her little brother, sharing first with him the food and water that she managed to get.
The lighter ends of her hair that are lighter -- are orange. the color of a child's hair when they are severely malnourished.

Unconditional Surrender is a series of computer-generated statues by Seward Johnson that resemble an iconic 1945 photograph by Alfred Eisenstaedt, V–J day in Times Square, but was said by Johnson to be based on a similar, less well-known, photograph by Victor Jorgensen that is in the public domain. The first in the series was installed temporarily in Sarasota, Florida, then was moved to San Diego, California and New York City. Other copies have been installed in Hamilton, New Jersey; Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; and Normandy, France.
Seward Johnson manufactured a life-size bronze precursor to the huge statues of Unconditional Surrender using a computer copying technology that would be used for the entire series. A 25-feet-tall (7.6 m) styrofoam version of the statue was part of a temporary exhibition in Sarasota, Florida in 2005, at its bay front. The technology he used copies two-dimensional images in order to manufacture three-dimensional objects.
Johnson proceeded with the manufacture of aluminum versions of the 25-feet-tall statue, marketing them through a foundation he had created. He offered copies ranging from $542,500 for styrofoam (plastic), $980,000 for aluminum, and $1,140,000 for bronze. (1)

I would say that after a tough day of international business there is nothing better than coming home to a sunshine-smile from a wag-tailed, little, scamp.

Disclaimer First: My subjects for this day were not able to make it. It was a Mom and a kid. The young boy got sick and had to be taken to the hospital. I hope he is doing well now!
I could have use somebody else but instead I took an image of the sky and branches (the right side of this image) to keep up with the daily image. It made sense for me to use this image of Deane and Wookie because he had surgery today (2-28-14) to repair cartilage in his eyes. This image was taken earlier this year. (Wookie was my subject in January) During that photo shoot I took this image with his mommy We hope Mr. Wookie is doing well!!
AND this is the last image of February's theme "Love & Friendship"
Thanks for stopping by and view this photo. The reason for posting this photo on Flickr is to learn so if you have constructive feedback regarding what I could do better and / or what I should try, drop me a note I would love to hear your input.

A mother’s love is unconditional and only grows stronger over a lifetime. It is also said that a mother is never really alone in her thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.

Representing hope and freedom, a 25 foot, 6,000 pound statue named, UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER, by world-renowned artist, J. Seward Johnson, is a three-dimensional interpretation of a photo taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt of a Sailor, Carl Muscarello, kissing a nurse, Edith Shain, in Times Square, New York City on Aug. 14, 1945, following the announcement of V-J Day.
Edith Shain, the nurse memorialized in Eisenstaedt’s photo, states, "There is so much romance in the statue; it gives such a feeling of hope to all who look at it."
“This statue brings back so many memories of peace, love and happiness. During the moment of the kiss I don’t remember much, it happened so fast and it happened at the perfect time. I didn’t even look at the Sailor who was kissing me,” Shain continued. “I closed my eyes and enjoyed the moment like any woman would have done.”
For the next year, the sculpture will stand next to the USS Midway Museum on the San Diego Bay. It was previously displayed in New York City in 2005 and Sarasota, Florida in 2006.
