Whosoever wishes to know about the world must learn about it in its particular details.
Knowledge is not intelligence.
In searching for the truth be ready for the unexpected.
Change alone is unchanging.
The same road goes both up and down.
The beginning of a circle is also its end.
Not I, but the world says it: all is one.
And yet everything comes in season.
HERAKLIETOS OF EPHESOS
She knew it was over even before he turned his back. A heavy silence, a quiet tear, like a farewell without words. Their paths were parting, but the love would remain within her, unchanging despite the distance. Sometimes, letting go is the greatest proof of a love that never fades.
Even though they are useful and meaningful, we must be careful not to overemphasize those little traditions to the point that we make them indispensable and elevate them to the position of divine, unchanging, eternal truth. They should not become the focus of our activity and attention to the point that they replace our relationship with Christ Himself. They should not be reduced to superstition, nor be observed in a ritualistic or legalistic manner, but should be practiced as an expression of our faith and of true Orthodoxy. While we embrace, respect, and esteem Tradition, we must be careful not to lapse into a rigid observance of customs, which is traditionalism.

“My struggle is harsh and I come back
with eyes tired
at times from having seen
the unchanging earth,
but when your laughter enters
it rises to the sky seeking me
and it opens for me all
the doors of life.”
~Pablo Neruda
God is the Rock, the firm foundation on which His church is built. We have no stronger a foundation to build our life upon than the Lord. He is immovable and unchanging. We can bank our entire life on Him knowing that He will always be the same and all of His promises will be fulfilled!
... I wish I were an angel with beautiful white wings, because I believe that angels can do no wrong.
Your Laughter
Take bread away from me, if you wish,
take air away, but do not take from me
your laughter.
Do not take away the rose,
the lance flower that you pluck,
the water that suddenly
bursts forth in joy,
the sudden wave
of silver born in you.
My struggle is harsh
and I come back with eyes
tired, at times from having
seen the unchanging earth,
but when your laughter enters
it rises to the sky seeking me
and it opens for me all
the doors of life.
My love, in the darkest
hour your laughter
opens, and if suddenly
you see my blood staining
the stones of the street,
laugh, because your laughter
will be for my hands
like a fresh sword.
Next to the sea in the autumn,
your laughter must raise
its foamy cascade,
and in the spring, love,
I want your laughter like
the flower I was waiting for,
the blue flower, the rose
of my echoing country.
Laugh at the night,
at the day, at the moon,
laugh at the twisted
streets of the island,
laugh at this clumsy
boy who loves you,
but when I open
my eyes and close them,
when my steps go,
when my steps return,
deny me bread, air,
light, spring,
but never your laughter
for I would die.

“To myself I am only a child playing on the beach, while vast oceans of truth lie undiscovered before me” - Professor Issac Newton.
"The land, the sea and the sky although spatially separated, belongs to one uniform, unchanging reality. And that is you. Your outer self shows the characteristics of the vast surface of the sea. It adopts to the outer world and reflects it. You do not have a unique characteristics if someone judges you by your appearance. On the other hand your inner self, just like the land, does not only contain the tiny grain of sand but it contains mountains. It does not only grow untouchable cactus but it grows tulips. It is forever colorful and unique mixture of your emotions and creativity.
I pity those who misinterpret you without realizing your sublime inner self." - Aku

A bull elk stands amidst three cows in his harem and bugles to other bulls in the area that these ladies are off limits.
In reality, harems are not stable or unchanging. During the rut, lasting several weeks, cows sometimes slip away to join other bulls, and bulls successfully steal cows from each other. So this guy is just under the illusion that his ladies are indeed his ladies.
So many images of bugling bull elk on Flickr...and quite a few of them are mine. So, sorry if they get a bit too commonplace.
La mia vita era un'interminabile...immutabile mezzanotte.
Doveva, per necessità, essere sempre mezzanotte per me.
Perciò com'era possibile che il sole stesse sorgendo ora...nel bel mezzo della mia mezzanotte?

My life was an unending...unchanging midnight.
It must, by necessity, always be midnight for me.
So how was it possible that the sun was rising now...in the middle of my midnight?

This photograph is about permanence and ephemerality. The light as the sun was setting emphasized the physical presence of the sandstone, a substance that seems unchanging yet is not. Over time it slowly -- almost imperceptibly -- undergoes erosion and carving by wind and sea.
Nothing particularly special here. It's just the urban scene as experienced on Grant Street right below Telegraph Hill. The interesting thing to me is that far in the distance you can just make out the red lanterns in Chinatown.
I've got a lot of comments about how bad San Francisco has become. It has changed, but in my mind it will never be bad. My mom and dad grew up here as did I for a period of time. There is a vibe here that is unique and unchanging. One that is forever in my heart. What's the song by Tony Bennett say?

Hello angel You are like a painting, when I look to the sky I can only see you
City street lights when the lights go out and the moon disappears, it’s still bright
Because you are the star that the sky dropped
I laugh for some reason, every night
I close my eyes but I can’t fall asleep
I stay up all night in your thoughts
Your bright smile makes me breathe
You you are probably
Hiding your wings behind your back
Anyone can see that you are my only angel
I can fly if I am with you
The sky gave you everything
And the world gave you to me
I will keep you by my side so you can’t run away to the sky
I will capture you, I will cage you, I will hold you
Hello angel You are like a painting, when I look to the sky I can only see you
City street lights when the lights go out and the moon disappears, it’s still bright
Because you are the star that the sky dropped
That is you
She says don’t casually casually
Jokingly say that I’m pretty
Hold me more warmly like a blanket
Stay by my side, unchanging just like the beginning
I’ll be together with you who I would always imagine
I would do anything if we can be together forever
I hope that I will never wake up if this is a dream
And I just wanna know your every day
The sky gave you everything
And the world gave you to me
I will protect you so your heart isn’t broken or cracked
I promise that I will live for you
Hello angel You are like a painting, when I look to the sky I can only see you
City street lights when the lights go out and the moon disappears, it’s still bright
Because you are the star that the sky dropped
The fanciest jewel in the sky
Can’t be as dazzling as you
Don’t go far away Baby won’t you stay
I will love you until whenever

Long, long ago, before the siring of village of Hallstatt; there were three. Unchanging, unrelenting, unforgivable, three. Tales of whom never seemed to age, nor hunger, thirst, tire, nor slumber ; at least none have seen. There were tales, the most defiling, ghoulish tales that one simply could not digest, of the horrors these "three" were accused of. Every eighty years or so, reports from village to village of the three whose skin likened to alabaster, blackened eyes, cuspids which some would say fangs of a beast.. they moved like the wind.. and... death seemed to emanate around them... most unwelcoming aura yet their gaze consumes, losing sense of awareness, falling deep....deeper in the the abyss of their grasp...... torn passages from a memoir revealed:
"i saw it with mine own eyes, demons!..they tore her to shreds, ...she had no will .. it was as if she had no control of her will, mind nor emotions, all was given over to them...hellish eyes locked with hers, fangs sunk deep whilst tearing into flesh, as her final gasp for breath escaped... it was as if her heart took the last beat or the last drop left her body.. a thud.. body, lifeless, slumped to the ground.. ghostly and pale like theirs.... i saw from a distance under the moon light in the forest..just beyond our village...i ran, ran until i felt my heart was going to give, tears flooding mine eyes as i reported to my family.....and now ..there are wails in the village...wails in the village of fear in the village...now rage... rage cries from the village... villager rising up to rid themselves ..... of the unholy three...

Introduction
Word of God "God Himself, the Unique (III)" (Excerpt)
www.holyspiritspeaks.org/videos/God-Himself-the-Unique-vi...
God’s authority exists regardless of the circumstances; in all situations, God dictates and arranges every human fate and all things in accordance with His thoughts, His wishes. This will not change because humans change, and it is independent of man’s will, cannot be altered by any changes in time, space, and geography, for God’s authority is His very substance. Whether man is able to know and accept God’s sovereignty, and whether man is able to submit to it, does not in the slightest way change the fact of God’s sovereignty over human fate. That is to say, no matter what attitude man takes toward God’s sovereignty, it simply cannot change the fact that God holds sovereignty over human fate and over all things. Even if you do not submit to God’s sovereignty, He still commands your fate; even if you cannot know His sovereignty, His authority still exists. God’s authority and the fact of God’s sovereignty over human fate are independent of human will, do not change in accordance with man’s preferences and choices. God’s authority is everywhere, at every hour, at every instant. If heaven and earth were to pass away, His authority would never pass away, for He is God Himself, He possesses the unique authority, and His authority is not restricted or limited by people, events, or things, by space or by geography. At all times God wields His authority, shows His might, continues His management work as always; at all times He rules all things, provides for all things, orchestrates all things, just as He always did. No one can change this. It is fact; it has been the unchanging truth since time immemorial!
The unmistakable and unchanging lines of the Porsche 911 are always evident in every model. I was first drawn to this shape when I was a schoolboy, reading avidly about the European motoring and travel adventures of an old motoring journalist by the name of Jeff Carter, back in the mid 1970s.
This model is from 1990 and is designated as the Porsche 911 Carrera 2, but also known as a Porsche 964.

Camino Day 2
Nice reminders along the way. Not that I am religious....
In the morning of my life I shall look to the sunrise.
At a moment in my life when the world is new.
And the blessing I shall ask is that God will grant me,
To be brave and strong and true,
And to fill the world with love my whole life through.
And to fill the world with love
And to fill the world with love
And to fill the world with love my whole life through
In the noontime of my life I shall look to the sunshine,
At a moment in my life when the sky is blue.
And the blessing I shall ask shall remain unchanging.
To be brave and strong and true,
And to fill the world with love my whole life through
In the evening of my life I shall look to the sunset,
At a moment in my life when the night is due.
And the question I shall ask only I can answer.
Was I brave and strong and true?
Did I fill the world with love my whole life through?
the old laws were written on stone and parchment.
the prayers were spoken in quiet, vaulted rooms.
they were meant to be timeless, unchanging.
but the world writes new chapters.
the new gospels are transmitted by light,
held in the palm of the hand.
it is a different kind of devotion.
a modern prayer to a different kind of god.
and the connection to the divine is now a data plan.

Philosophical significance of water - Water is Everything
=
looking at water deals always with a particular aggregation: liquid, gas, solid, or with a particular storage: a pool, lake, sea, or with a particular movement: rain, a river, a wave, a waterfall. What is common to all these phenomena, the chemical composition of water, H2O, is not visible but under the microscope. Water is such a unique substance that philosophy begins with seeing water. Thales, the first philosopher (The inventor of philosophy!) who lived in the seventh century BC, believed that everything is water, and subsequent philosophers explained, each according to his method, what Thales meant. We know that Thales did not know the chemical composition of the water, and did not see it under the microscope, so naturally we ask how he had come across the hidden entity behind its multiple expressions? The answer is that we don't need to have a microscope to see that water freeze in cold but return to flow after they defrost and that vapors turn into water in the rain.
Note: It is not that Thales declared that every thing is water and returned to plow his land. I think he dedicated his life to the development of this statement and to prove his case. His enterprise was admired in his lifetime. His teachings were well known for several generations after his death. As time went by it was forgotten until all that's left is this statement and some anecdotes. Nowadays there is a tendency to underestimate the achievements of Thales, but in order to understand in depth his statement we need to reconstruct his enterprise - to prove that every thing is water from accumulated knowledge on water ever since.
=
Thales's famous statement that everything is water first appears in Aristotle's Metaphysics 983 b6 8-11. In a short paragraph he explains that early philosophers searched one principle, fixed, unchanging, which is the source of the existence of all things, and he writes in the following paragraph:
Thales, the founder of this type of philosophy, says the principle [of unchangeable substratum] is water (for which reason he declared that the earth rests on water), getting the notion perhaps from seeing that the nutriment of all things is moist, and that heat itself is generated from the moist and kept alive by it (and that from which they come to be is a principle of all things). He got his notion from this fact, and from the fact that the seeds of all things have a moist nature, and that water is the origin of the nature of moist things.
Heraclitus Homericus commented that Thales drew his conclusion from seeing moist substance turn into air, slime and earth.
The statement - everything is water - in what cases is it correct? Was Thales right?
About two-thirds of Earth's surface is covered by water, and, as Aristotle explained above, animals and plants that live in the water originated from seeds which are damp and humidity originates in water.
What is left to check is third of Earth's surface exluding plants and animals.
In this third are materials that do not look like water but we know they are water: sorts of ice (including snow), sorts of vapor including clouds.
Water is not only hydrogen dioxide but also what is dissolved in them: erosion, salts, minerals. You can not think of salt without assuming water evaporation. Israel's sand strip is covered with silt of the Nile. In the same way you can not think of dry without assuming the existence of wet. Dry is a synonym for something that is not wet.
=
In Thales' Bible he wrote: from water you are and to water you will return, and not like in our Bible: By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return. (Genesis 3:19)
=
It is said that Thales of Miletos... said that the beginning (the first principle) and the end of all things is water. (Hipp. i. ; Dox. 555.). This idea is strikingly similar to the Biblical idea: To the place from whence the streams come, there they return again (Ecclesiastes 1:7).
Aristotle attributes to Thales the statement that the Earth rests on water. That insight is phrased also in the Bible: The Lord's is the Earth and its entirety, the world and
all that dwells therein. For He has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters Psalms 24: 1-2
=
The meaning of Vapors, Thales and Ecclesiastes
=
Ibn Ezra explains (Ecclesiastes 1:7): "All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full" because of the evaporation of the sea. In other words, if there was no evaporation the streams would have filled the sea, and the sea would have flooded the earth.
=
"Meaningless! Meaningless!
says the Teacher.
Utterly meaningless!
Everything is meaningless.” (Ecclesiastes 1:2).
In Hebrew the word for Meaningless is Hevel which is also the word for steam, the humidity that accumulates on the mirror after you blow on it in a cold day, or after a hot shower...
=
When philosophy students encounter for the first time the saying of Thales that everything is water they are skeptical - why would Thales invent such a wild generalization? But when reading the "all is vapor" of the wisest of all men, King Solomon, author of Ecclesiastes, they understand that Thales studied from Solomon.

Down the old dusty hollers of Appalachia, you will find old barns, homes built a century or more ago. As John Denver once said, “Life Is Old Here” it’s important to remember that these old dusty mountains hold memories of times long ago, take a moment to stop by and appreciate these now preserved and protected monuments to our ingenuity. Appreciate the world turning on, while it remains almost unchanging in the landscape. While this old grist Mill is being renovated, revitalized for future generations to appreciate, for every structure the park service saves, a hundred others fall into disrepair. Perhaps you should find the time to travel these old country roads and see what remains, or, like dust in the wind, it too will be gone.

Pluto has long been a mystery, a dot at our solar system’s margins. The best images, even with NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, were fuzzy and pixelated. In July 2015, NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft flew past Pluto and captured the sharpest views of the dwarf planet to date. One of the most striking areas, informally named "Sputnik Planum," is a sweeping, frozen plain the size of Texas and ringed by mountains of ice. Its smooth deposits are unmarred by impact craters, a stark contrast to the rest of Pluto’s battered surface. As a result, scientists believe the region formed recently, within the last few hundred million years. This contradicts past depictions of Pluto as an unchanging world. By analyzing images taken during the flyby, scientists hope to unravel more of the dwarf planet’s history. Watch the video for an up-close look at Pluto.

What would the world look like if there was only one kind of identical flower, one kind of tree, all the same, an unchanging cloudless sky, one kind of animal and one only? One religion, one and only one point of view, one kind of child--all boys or all girls, all looking the same, inhabiting one huge nation that covered the earth?
Variety is everything. Differences make the world great. Harmonizing differences is the goal of the gardener. Great leaders are gardeners, respecting the earth's diversity and all its peoples. Some demigods harbor a soul like weed killer, poisoning everything they touch. They can never hurt enough people to satisfy their desire for power.
Not venturing too far due to the current Covid crisis, I took a walk by Victors Barber Shop because sadly Victor passed away last year and the shop has been vacant for a while.
I doubt it will remain in its present form for too long, so thought I would capture what has probably been an unchanging sight for many a year.
Walking around in a salt flat can feel like visiting an alien world. In Death Valley, it often feels that way. On this particular day I ventured out into a familiar section of the salt flat which, while it might be the same place I’ve visited before, it never looks the same. The casual drive-through experience might lead one to think that Death Valley is a static and unchanging desert world but close examination and repeat visits will show you how much change occurs here on a very human time scale. Out here in the mud on this day water had collected into small circular bowls from perhaps a relatively recent rain. The ground is surprisingly saturated here. It is always mud, the kind that tries to hitch a ride with you as your shoes swell to comical mud proportions. The salty mud glistened with specular reflections of the blue sunny sky but the lack of white crystals suggested the concentration was much smaller here. The scene works as a black and white study of this brown world, emphasizing the textures and cracks and abrupt contrast of the water.
Stupa and prayer flags. Kathmandu, Nepal
......................................................................
The Tibetan word is Chorten, which means "the basis of offering".
Stupa is a symbol of enlightened mind, (the awakened mind, universal divinity) and the path to its realisation.
If you had to use just two words, the best definition I have seen is "Spiritual Monument"
The stupa represents the Buddha's body, his speech and his mind, but most especially his mind and every part shows the path to Enlightenment

“what’s it all mean?” i asks Sam.
“in an ontological sense?” Sam replies,
as he plug-cuts a herring by biting its head off
and spitting it over the side of the boat into the water.
“sure,” i says,
as i wink over at Bud.
“well,” says Sam,
“if we avoid the pitfalls of eleatic monism
and stick with ontological pluralism,
we replace the idea of reality being unique and unchanging
with the idea of Becoming,
and we immediately arrive at
a more fundamental and elemental ontic plurality.”
“that right?” i says.
“eventually,” continues Sam,
“it was Avicenna, an Islamic philosopher,
who was the first to argue that existence is not a predicate,
that essence actually precedes existence, you know,
that existence, i.e., al-wujud,
when thought of in terms of necessity
would ontologically translate into
a notion of the Necessary-Existent-Due-to-Itself
i.e., wajib al-wujud bi-dhatihi,
which is without description or definition,
and particularly without quiddity or essence,
i.e., la mahiyya lahu.”
“sure, but is ‘the self,’” i says,
making quotation marks in the air with my fingers
and winking again over at Bud,
“something we can know with epistemological certainty?”
“ah, falling back to the old Cartesian Other argument
first formulated by Anselm of Canterbury,” Sam retorts.
“yeah,” Bud chimes in,
“piscor ergo sum.”
i look over at Bud, clench my fist
and make a pumping motion with my arm.
“what’s that mean?” i whisper over to Bud.
“i fish therefore i am,” he whispers back.
Sam stops cutting bait and looks at me and Bud.
“what it all means, you two assholes,
is that whether you’re chasing money, women or fish,
you gotta get up river before all the other sons of bitches.”
Another shot of the Old Lifeboat Station at Mumbles - taken during my last, of frequent, visits to Wales.
Given the unchanging conditions on the day, I opted to create the image in the same "high-key" style as the last picture I posted of this location...
A 10-stop filter served to flatten the sea completely, and I emphasised the mist in post editing to knock the distant land back for a minimal look.
The building's red roof and window frames add a splash of colour and interest to an otherwise calm, muted image.

The Symposium (Ancient Greek: Συμπόσιον = drinking party ) is a philosophical text by Plato dated c. 385–370 B C E. It concerns itself at one level with the genesis, purpose and nature of Love.
“what if the man could see Beauty Itself, pure, unalloyed, stripped of mortality, and all its pollution, stains, and vanities, unchanging, divine,...the man becoming in that communion, the friend of God, himself immortal;...would that be a life to disregard ?”

I repeat my vow in unchanging colors of the ageless bamboo -
which still creates ten thousand generations of shadows. (Gyokuran, 11th century poet)
The 14th century Hokoku Temple in Kamakura is known as Takedera - the Bamboo Temple - because of this fabulous glade.
This shot - along with others of Takedera - is part of the japan 09 set.
