We tell ourselves stories in order to live. The princess is caged in the consulate. The man with the candy will lead the children into the sea. The naked woman on the ledge outside the sixteenth floor is a victim of accidie, or the naked woman is an exhibitionist, and it would be “interesting” to know which. We tell ourselves that it makes some difference wether the naked woman is about to commit a mortal sin or is about to register a political protest or is about to be, the Aristophanic view, snatched back to the human condition by a the fireman in priest’s clothing just visible in the window behind her, the one smiling at the telephoto lens. We look for the sermon in the suicide, for the social or the moral lesson in the murder of five. We interpret what we see, select the most workable of the multiple choices. We live entirely, especially if we are writers, by the imposition of a narrative line upon disparate images, by the “ideas” with which we have learned to freeze the shifting phantasmagoria which is our actual experience.

Or at least we do for a while.

The catastrophe […] is neither waiting down the road, nor has it already happened. Rather, it is being lived through. There is no punctual moment of disaster; the world doesn’t end with a bang, it winks out, unravels, gradually falls apart. What caused the catastrophe to occur, who knows; its cause lies long in the past, so absolutely detached from the present as to seem like the caprice of a malign being: a negative miracle, a malediction which no penitence can ameliorate. Such a blight can only be eased by an intervention that can no more be anticipated than was the onset of the curse in the first place. Action is pointless; only senseless hope makes sense. Superstition and religion, the first resorts of the helpless, proliferate.

Maybe it is just that I’ve watched too much TV. I get confused, is it a memory or only something I have seen in a movie. Every picture has a trajectory: How did we come here, where does this lead? Does the hero get the girl? Most will be dead at the end of the movie. So will we.

We’re looking for clues in these pictures: Do they give the future away? When a gun is placed on a table in the first act, it will be fired in the third. This is the law, this is how it works. Things are connected. Except if they are not.

The eye of the storm. That strange silence, where everything rings of decay and doom yet nothing really has changed yet. You can stay here, the world is in turmoil and the turmoil will come to your door. Until then, be calm.

Things didn’t came out as we intended. The money ran out. The production company shut down halfway through the film. Some of the things in the script did not work out on the set, some were cut because of the budget. There were these things in the story we started and that were just left dangling there. We all were tired. The door the girl went in, disappeared in the following scene. The coffee place in the middle of the street now is on the corner. Once, in summer we went for ice cream, the director paid. We were sitting in the bright sunlight and the darkness of the studio and the film was far away. That weather that day. Somehow it all went wrong from there. We were looking for clues how our stories went down, but the pictures don’t give it away. They are just lights and surface. Liquids, pixels, there is nothing behind them.

These are the movies we never finished and these lives that never went anywhere.

Andreji, father of Tukor, reign of the Dark Lands. Tukor had himself three sons and an abandoned daughter because he disdained female heirs he cast her away into the plains. Two of his sons were slain in a raid by the pale men of the north, when they were driven into the Dark Lands by a drought that lasted for 5 years, destroyed most of their live-stock, dried all the rivers of the north. They fled in draughts over the frontier, tattered, sly, worn out from their diet of blood they drew from their cattle. At night they slowly crept up the castle walls in search for food and water. Their limbs were elongated and glistened white in the upcoming moon, but they were weak and with their sticks furnished with sharpened flint stone they were no match for the king’s guard. Still, some of them managed to sneak into royal tract of the castle, moving slowly and silently close to the walls until they met the brothers Tiron and Elion, both thirteen of age, slender, but large for their age, with swords in hand, woken up from the turmoil in the castle. They slained five of the pale men before they were overcome. The pale men seemed to be dissolving from the castle walls, more and more of them pouring out of the draperies, emerge from underneath tables, drop from ceilings, rise from between the planks of the floor. When the king’s guard arrived, they cut through the pale men like weed and found Tiron and Elion slain and covered in their own blood and that of the pale men under a heap of cut off limbs and smashed-in skulls.

Adriel, the remaining third brother was a weakling who had hidden in his bedroom: He had heard the shouts and the battle cries of his brothers, but he was too afraid to go outside. And so his reign took its course.

His father detested him for his survival and so Adriel had had him killed and his body torn and taken away and scattered in the hills.

Instead of force he relied on his wits and a tireless plotting and scheming to weave a tight net of dependencies to rule the kingdom. He was more into peace than he was into war, war forced his hand and rushed him into decisions. Yet he carried out his war with a fierce, almost reckless rage that threw his men into impossible situations. Yet, more often than not he emerged victorious and brought home with him blazing victories and grew the empire and secured its borders.

— Pierre Bourdieu, What makes a beautiful photograph? (the numbers inbrackets represent the percentage of subjects who considered that these objects could produce a beautiful photograph): From: “The Social Definition Of Photography” in: Photography, A Middle Brow Art

There is something depressing about this Bourdieu-Quote: That beauty is not much more than a set of visual clichés, enforced and perpetuated by systems of power to conserve the (visual) status quo.

But then there is also a glimmer of hope in that: Once we accept that beauty is the result of of a social negotiation and not something handed down to us by the gods and reflects who we are as much as who we want to be as a society, this also means we can change what we perceive as beautiful.

Suddenly, a picture of a woman that does not have an endangering eating disorder can be seen as beautiful, food that is real and actually carries the dirt of the earth it comes from can be seen as yummy, and the picture of two men kissing, instead of being seen as an abomination, can be seen as an extension of what love can actually mean.

Looking at the Precious antiques found in museums it is hard to imagine that a lone treasure seeker used a simple metal detector to scan the sand at the beach to get those stunning gems.

Surprisingly, a retired businessman from Scotland unearthed Viking silver and gold artifacts that date back 1000 years. This gold and silver is valued for about six figures.

The good news is that there are more historical relics waiting to be discovered.

This brief overview looks into the top 6 largest finds that were discovered using a metal detector that will make you rethink getting a metal detector.

6 Incredible Treasures Found With a Metal Detector

· Ringlemere Cup- Back in 2001, Cliff Bradshaw who was a metal detector hobbyist made an amazing discovery with his Fisher F2 metal detector a review of which can be found here. that shocked many. Mr Bradshaw was busy digging a muddy field next to Ringelemere, East Kent when he unearthed a rare and exquisite gold chalice named Ringlemere Cup. This piece was the second of its type to be discovered in Britain since 1837. The vase dates back 2300-4000 years ago. Mr Bradshaw went on to sell the stunning gold cup to the British Museum for an overwhelming £270,000.

· Fishpool Hoard-The Fishpool Hoard was a large hoard of gold and enamel brooches that was found in a Fishpool Hoard back in 1966. Workmen were digging on a bulding site when they accidentally came across one of the largest hoards of medieval coins ever discovered in Britain.

The hoard contained 1237 gold coins, four pieces of jewelry, two gold chains and four rings all dating back to the 15th century. Apparently, the hoard had been buried by a person who was fleeing from the famous War of the Roses battles. This enormous hoard was sold to the British Museum for £300,000

· Roman Coin Hoard-Dave Crisp could not have imagined finding more than one roman silver coin when he began his search on a farmer’s field located near Frome. Luck was on his side as after some hors of searching, Mr. Crisp received an unexpected signal which later turned out to be a large hoard of coins. An emergency three day excavation, the search unearthed more than 52,000 Roman coins. These coins were valued at nearly half a million pounds. However, Dave was not too lucky as the entire find had to be confiscated by the Crown.

· Stolen nest egg– Back in 1946, postal inspectors had what can be regarded as a lucky hunch regarding a deceased post office. The employees went ahead to borrow a metal detector from the U.S. Army and to their surprise thir suspicions were right. After digging 9 feet underground in the man’s backyard, the employees discovered $153,150 worth of cash that had been stashed in cans and jars inside a stovepipe.

· Skeleton clutching coins– In 1952, pirate specialist and maritime historian Edward Rowe Snow carried his metal detector and an old map to the small island located off the coast of Nova Scotia. Edward Rome was one lucky man as his metal detector led hime to a pile of 18th century Portugeese and Spanish doubloons. To top it off the historian also found a skeleton that was surprisingly clutching coins.

I own a 98 Dodge Ram and my truck has seen really a crazy time over the past 10 many years. It started out out as a sparkling clean machine that I initial learned how to drive in. Freedom was the open highway and I would usually be located in the street to and from the seaside with my surfboard in the bed.

Building a house in right now’s ever-shifting economic climate can be scary. In between rising interest costs and stories of nightmare contractors, buyer self confidence in the housing market place is at an all-time low. The very good news is, home builders understand this trend and the good ones are performing some thing about it. When you’re hunting for a residence builder, don’t be afraid to ask these 3 inquiries. If they can’t give you a satisfactory response, preserve looking.

Enjoy a traditional Easter Egg Hunt at the Heritage Backyard found at The American Adventure for kids ages 3 to 9. Hunts will take place each 15 minutes throughout the say starting at eleven:30 a.m. and reservations for the hunt can be produced at the Heritage backyard podium. Mr. and Mrs. Bunny will be on hand for meet and greets from 11:15 a.m. until finally six:15 p.m.

Wood broken by the home longhorn beetle will most most likely want to be replaced as the very first stage to eradication. If the harm is minimal and the holes old, you may be able to treat it with insecticide and be carried out with it. If the harm is in depth or the bugs still there, it’s greatest to ruin the wood.

The other explanation can be the ground close to your foundation. Does it slope away from the property or does it sit in its personal valley of sorts? You could only need to do some straightforward and bring in a load of grime to spread out close to the house.

This is in which men and women form plant lifestyle for aesthetic motives. It commenced in mid evil times and has progressed into our day. There is a way to bend trees, plants, and flowers into distinct shapes.

Fake grass does not need a typical supply of water to preserve it green. It is just required to periodically flush the grime accumulated time on the grass surface. Contribution to the conservation of water resources and conserve cash.

Do not overdo it however, in this kind of a way that the act of pressure washing Tampa Florida itself will start off to lead to damage. From there, you can begin at the really top and slowly move down the home. Make positive to get everything down to the extremely essentials.

Finally, paint. Absolutely nothing brings new existence to a home like a new coat of paint. Make sure to pick neutral colors that will appeal to as numerous folks as feasible. Using extreme colours can easily alienate specified buyers and most home purchasers will not like the truth that they may have to repaint the property’s exterior. The much less perform buyers have to do after getting the more eye-catching the property will be.

Well, some glad morning when this life is oer,

I’ll fly away.

To a home on God’s celestial shore,

I’ll fly away.

Oh, I’ll fly away, O Glory,

I’ll fly away

When I die, Hallelujah, bye and bye,

I’ll fly away.

When the shadows of this life have gone,

I’ll fly away.

Like a bird from prison bars have flown,

I’ll fly away.

MUST READ: Celina Jaitly hits back at trollers who slut-shamed her for her bathtub picture

The manner in which Kareena Kapoor Khan maintained herself and also flaunted her bump during public appearances during her pregnancy last year caught a lot of attention. It also made it clear that it is completely normal and one shouldn’t shy oneself from facing the world and exhibiting the bodily changes.

The other actress who went a step further is Celina Jaitly. The actress who is currently expecting did a risqué photoshoot. In the picture, she was completely nude but her assets were wittily covered as she was in a bathtub. Her baby bump however was visible and the picture on the whole made quite an impact.

The trolls can be quite shameless with their comments on the internet. Hence, Celina Jaitly was prepared for it. However, the magnitude of comments and also the kind of insults she faced shocked her. She wrote a long post on Facebook to express her displeasure. She also made it clear that not just men but even women have slut-shamed her and giving rape threats to her and becoming unruly violent in thought is not the correct way to discuss in a civilized society. Here’s what she wrote on her Facebook wall:

GOOD GOD IS THAT Shoulders, arms AND TUMMY?! Oh wait even a peeking knee cap…. MY EYES ARE BURNING WITH THE SLUTINESS.!!!

Upon posting a recent pregnancy picture in a bathtub with a message condemning the stereotype associated with pregnant women and their bodies in our culture, clicked by my beloved Peter Haag for MissMalini.com I was surprised to see what followed next. While I did receive a lot of love, my social media feeds on my Instagram, Twitter & FB Fan Page turned into a battle ground of trolls vs like-minded followers & well-wishers.

Having been perceived to violate traditional expectations for behaviour & dress code during pregnancy, it was not surprising to see trolling/slut shaming on my post and honestly to me they truly are laughable and don’t affect me personally… However, what disturbed me was the aspect that even in today’s times an immense growth is being seen in this kind of regressive mentality and how some people driven by this ideology are willing to intimidate a woman (even a pregnant woman) using a considerable amount of verbal violence along with intentions of sexual violence just because the picture did not meet the traditional and cultural expectations of a few self-proclaimed ‘thekedars’ of our society.

Funnily enough the bathtub picture actually shows less skin than most of the outfits that me and many of my colleagues have worn for several of our films.

While men do slut shame, often women are the strongest cultural enforcers of slut-shaming, you will see that when you go to my Instagram account. It’s amazing that slut shaming is rarely about actual sexual activity, but rather perceived sexuality through clothes or attitudes. In my case despite only a bit of the tummy shoulders & knee showing I realised smilingly that what bothered the Shamers was what was “not” that was visible in the bathtub picture but what was “perceived” to be visible through their demented imagination. My observation is that, the Shamers were immensely uncomfortable “more” from the parts of my body that were “covered” by the water, and were apparently definitely nude, making their imaginations run in all directions which of course were against all social norms. Hence in our culture with such an assumption one automatically gains the rights to call a woman a slut, a bitch a whore, and of course it is also shockingly ok to even punish her by rape and sexually torment such a woman as per many comments on my picture on Instagram, twitter, FB and Miss Malini and many other websites. Ironically enough most of the perpetrators of such verbal violence are also women themselves & unfortunately many women fail to realise that to make progressive attempts for their own evolution, they have to start changing the way they view themselves, and other women too.

In our culture one thing is for sure the only way one expresses disapproval is through verbal or physical violence, there is no scope for resolution, solution or general discussion or using civilised language to express disapproval. I fail to understand why does something (like my so called against the Indian social norms bathtub picture) which does not agree to one’s taste or liking have to become a candidate for any kind of violence…Both physical and verbal sexual violence is not only criminally an offence in the real world but what really worries me is the fact that in our culture so many people (both men & women) tend to have the intention to resort to sexual, verbal & physical violence to punish one for something makes them uncomfortable. Specially to think that there are so many people who feel it’s ok to harm a pregnant woman or for that matter any woman with physical, sexual & verbal abuse. No wonder violence against women has increased in our country because such narcissistic people are actually allowed to have a voice and practice their regressive and delinquent thought processes and ideologies.

Slut-shaming is not funny, it is dangerous, hurtful, disrespectful and harmful to women. It’s important to question society when they expect women to behave in ways that men are not expected to.

While many of my colleagues for their own reasons may have chosen to keep quiet when they too went through the same, I take it as my social responsibility to speak up against it. My intention as an actor, a beauty queen a human rights activist and most of all as a a mother has always been to empower , encourage & break social stigmas through my blessed platform.

All I can say is that if you are being slut-shamed remember that it is not your fault. The problem is with the way in which many people are socially conditioned to think about women.

However, ending on a positive note..a big thank you to my many followers who stood up to all the abuse. I am overwhelmed by their support and love and most of all I am so proud to see that my beloved followers have a voice that is right and that their values and hearts are in the right place.

Mother sings a lullaby to a child

Sometime in the future the boy goes wild

I know his nerves are feeling some kind of energy

A walk in the woods and I will try

Something under the trees that made you cry

It’s so erotic when your make up runs

I got wiring loose inside my head

I got books that I never or ever read

I got secrets in my garden shed

I got a scar where all my urges bled

I got people underneath my bed

I got a place where all my dreams are dead

Swim with me into your blackest eyes
