From Sedona, Arizona. The trees and vegetation were just breathtaking. The sky as blue as I have never seen and the heat as unbearable as I was warned but never expected.

Sedona has a temperate semi-arid climate. In January, the average high temperature is 57 °F (14 °C) with a low of 31 °F (−1 °C). In July, the average high temperature is 97 °F (34 °C) with a low of 64 °F (17 °C). Annual precipitation is just over 19 inches (480 mm).

It was in the mid 90"s the day we shot the daylilies, the sun was almost unbearable. I loved how the light illuminated the flower so I left it SOOC. Huntsville Botanical Garden, Alabama.

( explored 8/2/15 )

These days, we get up shortly after 5 a.m. and walk to the beach at sunrise. Since the beach is located directly on the southern tip of Sri Lanka, it becomes unbearable after 8 a.m. Every day, the natural spectacle presents itself differently. And so the pictures are always slightly different. It is exciting to see the variety of images, all taken from the same spot.

I had already taken a series of these ICM sunrises from this beach a year ago. Some were explored, such as a picture from 7 February 2025. I have no idea why it was explored a second time yesterday. This old picture has now reached over 1000 favs. Sometimes flickr's ways are unfathomable....

wildlife Extremadura: from a distance many vultures could be observed circling in the sky, next to a dirt road, behind the fence of a farm several vultures were crouching on a carcass... As beautiful as some of the birds were sitting in the flowers, the smell was unbearable and we left the place after a few minutes...

Last summer, about this time. Must have rained consistently for me to have been out shooting - it's quite unbearable to be outside right now.

I can remember the high temperature during the afternoon, made all the more unbearable as I worked at ground level under some camouflage netting.

the time of the sunflowers is almost over.

The unbearable heat is very hard on us and nature.

Nice to find a few more sunflowers in full bloom.

We had some serious fires over summer and endless weeks of 43-45C it was unbearable. It was time to investigate the damage.

On January 27, 1996, Wisconsin Central train 43 has tops Byron Hill, south of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in extremely high winds and well below zero temperatures. The area around Fond du Lac received over two feet of snow over the previous three days before a frigid Arctic high settled in over the region, making standing on this overpass waiting for the train almost unbearable.

The Unbearable Lightness of Being

I look for, in your way of looking, a place to rest

That now has become indispensable

I seek, in your eyes, a place where I can take refuge

Summertime is the rainy season in Kunming, the capital of the Chinese province Yunnan. Nevertheless I enjoyed the two summers I spent there very much. Most of the time the sun is shining just the same, and the temperatures are very mild, because this far south city is located at an elevation of 1,890 metres (6,200 feet). They rarely exceed 30°C (86°F), whereas the heat in the rest of China becomes absolutely unbearable in the summer months.

Johnston Canyon, Banff National Park Alberta, Canada

So I just got back a few days ago from a solo road-trip up to Canada. I had snagged a campsite at Lake O'Hara back in April and have been eagerly awaiting the trip since. I spent 4 nights between Lake O'Hara, Banff, and Jasper. I went on glorious hikes and made about a million side excursions. I'll have more details written up later in an album description when I have more patience. In a nutshell, I had a blast despite a little bad weather and experienced incredible natural grandeur.

This location is along the super popular Johnston Canyon trail (there were hordes of people on the trail, almost making it unbearable for me). I knew about this little spot and had done a little research as to what to look for but even then, when I "found" the trail it was still a surprise to me since I wasn't 100% sure where it was. I was absolutely thrilled to have found it, and basically had the whole place to myself (there was a couple there doing some shots, but they were respectful and didn't detract from the splendor in any way) for a good 30 min or so. It is probably the coolest thing ever to see. And even though that rock looks like an island, it's just a matter of perspective and is actually a jutting, curved land mass.

This is also my first true HDR photo, and I think I did an alright job; no over-the-top glow effect or details. If you think I could do better, I would appreciate any advice since I am new at this and am really just sort of winging it.

I will have a ton of photos to post, but I won't inundate you with all of them at once, and I still have hundreds to go through. Just thought this would be a good start.

Cheers!

...memories from a lost pier in Carrasqueira - Alcácer do Sal - Portugal

The island and the beach of Tuerredda, south Sardina.

Since the tourism has discovered this place, the beach is no longer available and enjoyable by the people like me who live there. The number of tourists who swarm here is unbearable and destroy the beauty of the place. The authorities had to limit the access to the beach to a maximum amount and of course you have to pay a lot for parking the car... end of a dream!

So please, don't come!

I remember going out last February with Frankel to shoot along Fullerton. It was cold, but it wasn't unbearable. Well, at least it wasn't until I stepped through ice and had one of my shoes fill up with water.

Striving for the unbearable Beauty

Despite the rainy weather which lasts in unbearable monotony and which does not end, spring is emerging and here are the first daffodils ...

In the year, 1518 a woman named Frau Troffea

Started dancing in Strasbourg

and couldn't stop.

An epidemic of joy

The craze spread

The uncontrollable desire to move

Neighbors and passing witnesses

Were infected like a fire

Could not stand still

An unbearable sensation until all the limbs flailed and

The doctors and police wailed.

It had to be illness...or sin....

Something outside of the body

Now within

And then, the dancing was banned

A woman's body just had to be controlled

Even then.

Time and space is an illusion.

Yet another murky day, too challenging because of its pale ambient light and unbearable lack of ambiguity.

Clearing chore

Sukhothai (Thailand) - This work scene was taken in the Sukhothai Archaeological Park. The city was the first capital of Siam. One of the tourist destinations in Thailand. Nothing to do however with the influx of the temples of Angkor in Cambodia where mass tourism has become unbearable.

These women have been assigned to the maintenance of the historic park, classified by Unesco since 1991. When I met them, they were cutting and collecting weeds, which are rather invasive at this latitude. Without the work of these women, the site would not take long to look like a jungle.

In their company, I made a small series of photos. Rather delighted with the interest I took in them, it was not long before we discussed. One of them spoke a few words of English. A series of group photos followed with the entire female brigade. I also made some posed portraits at their request.
