LARGE View On Black
Today theme is Ukranian trade. Sometimes it felt really "Back in USSR!"
The blue thing on the left is traditional scales which i remember since my early childhood. They are really in harmony with the salted cucumbers in a opened jar - probably sold by one. Only new thing is Cola bottles...

Blue and Yellow...
Sometimes in our world, the needs of the few, outweighs our own needs. My heart is heavy for the suffering endured by the Ukrainian people...why conquer this peaceful people? For, what you perceive as yours, for dominance, for wealth, for stopping others from joining unions to protect themselves...the choice is theirs, be content and strengthen from within, Mr. Putin. Glory and strenght to Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy...your country is small, but your heart is incredably huge!
In support of Ukraine...
Ukraine flag flying high over W. Grand Avenue. Ironically, the building in the background is owned by the person (I'll refrain from name-calling on this forum) who did the most to weaken Ukraine and basically invite Russia to invade.

The only "long distance" train in the Ukrainian part of Upper Tisza Valley runs from Lviv to Solotvyno next to the Romanian border. Usually, it is hauled by M62-1103, here seen before Teresva.

Incredible stained glass. It was obvious to think about the war in Ukraine while watching it. Highly symbolic.

An interior view of a building in the abandoned city of Prypiat near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine February 24, 2011. Belarus, Ukraine and Russia will mark the 25th anniversary of the nuclear reactor explosion in Chernobyl, the place where the world's worst civil nuclear accident took place, on April 26. Zvizdal: a village of 300 until 1989, located 30 miles west of the Chernobyl nuclear plant.
The inhabitants were evacuated from the area three whole years after the catastrophe.
Petro, 80, and Nadia, 84.
All the inhabitants of Zvizdal could not get another house after the evacuation. Some families were hence "condemned" to stay back in the village. All of those who have stayed behind have died since, except for this couple. Meeting them was somewhat surreal.
Petro and Nadia live among the ruins. Their house is the only one intact, the others were pillaged by looters. They grow vegetables in the highly-contaminated soil but they remain very attached to their roots, their ground. As we are about to part, Nadia confides in me: "I'd like to die, but I don't know how..."
Ukrainians living in Los Angeles gathered in Westwood, on March 5th to protest Russia's invasion of Ukraine while also singing their national anthem.
This is a picture of a leaflet all Belgians received.
The Belgian national post service BPost is collecting goods and foods, pet food and hygiene products for Ukraine.
All Belgians can deliver their goods for Ukraine to their local post office - there are no postal charges.
The national post service coordinates all incoming goods and loads them on big trucks.
Truck drivers of the Belgian post services volunteered to drive the goods to the Polish/Ukrainian border (some 1,800kms away from here), where they are handed over to their colleagues of the Ukrainian post service that handles the distribution within Ukraine to those in need.
Several truck loads already arrived in Ukraine and more are en route. Their exact route is kept secret for security purposes.
This is a news item on Belgian (Flemish) TV about it of a week ago. It's in Dutch but it has footage of the depots and trucks too

Hopefully this can be an inspiration for postal services in other countries to do the same.
The International Red Cross, who are completely impartial and never exaggerate, have described the situation for Ukrainians in Mariupol, who are trying to evacuate to safety as “apocalyptic”.
Many Ukrainians’ now have no access to food, clean clothing, warm blankets, shelter, and clean running water. 9th MARCH 2022

Ukraine Railways 2TE10UT0076 is one of a relatively small ( <100? ) class of passenger variants of a much larger TE10 series of locomotives from the Soviet era. Built by Lugansk Works from the late 1980s this sub class had revised gearing and braking systems for passenger trains. The various TE10 sub classes, built from the 1960s, have opposed piston diesel engines and were built in double (2TE), treble (3TE) and quadruple (4TE) units and many thousands were built at Lugansk (10,000+?) for use across the former Soviet Union.
