Cairo dock in action on Ubuntu Intrepid showing the trash bin on the desktop glowing. If you look closely, you'll see a little fish on the dock (it's actually moving up and down the dock)

The first few entries are dialects of German, French, English and French again all spelt out in Hindi.

Never mind that they say German for all dialects of German except the one spoken in Germany, which is just called Germany, and that Canadian French is called French, while other dialects of French are called Fransisi. The big question is, how on earth do you change your language to French or German if you cannot read Hindi?

Someone went too far with localising language names.

Oh yeah, this is a photo of my screen, because you can't take a screenshot before logging in.

A salad from Ubuntu, in Napa, CA. They've earned a michelin star and I can see (and taste) why!

My working environment in addition to OS X and Windows XP.

All Done, including twinview. It's much easier to install nvidia-settings rather than edit xorg.conf yourself. The only thing no good is I have to switch back and forth if I put D620 on the docking station.

I don't want to customize the fonts, look & feel, especially to be a fake Mac OS X. Maybe I will smooth the fonts but never do something about the theme, waste of time. Think good look and feel, use OSX.

Cisco VPN client has also worked, wow~

Good enough for work. I don't even want to use my Macbook for a while. It's full of fun to work under Ubuntu. Playing with Compiz Fusion:)

I will make a list of apps to install after installing Ubuntu from USB stick.

BTW: Remember to install Dropbox!

Mac OS like features utilizing compiz fusion..

one advantage of buying computers with ubuntu preinstalled from system76: you get an ubuntu key, not a windows key

I can't decide which wallpaper I like more, this one or the tux one.

Here it is, the Student Desktop! The account's username/password is just "student" (without the quotes). It's completely locked down in every way reasonable: no Applications/Places/System menu, no editing the Gnome panels, and every application the students need is right there. The background's the school logo and there's only one desktop (so they can't switch to another one and goof off).

Finally, a set of high quality Ubuntu and GNU stickers!

This image can be printed as a digital photo (6x8 cm) in a print shop. You can directly print it on a sticker paper in many shops with CEWE printers. For a list of shops that have this printer look at this page: www.cewe.de/partner.html

I personally tried "dm" shop in Germany, and it worked very well. I had to place my order and, after a few days, I could take my printed stickers (immidiate printing is not possible for stickers). It costs 2.60 Euros to print a set of 4 stickers in one peace of sticker paper.

And please note that after printing, you have to cut out individual stickers for yourself with a pair of scissors!

Installing Windows XP on Ubuntu Hardy via VirtualBox

Linux is much better than Windows when you give it a proper chance. I don't like Unity, not one bit, so I'm sticking with the more stable and better looking Gnome2 desktop for now. May consider switching distributions to Linux Mint Debian Edition in the near future (I need to reinstall anyway, I need 64bit and am running 32bit at the moment).
