A nice guy, he was playing on Broadway in Chinatown. Plugged into an amplifier, he could be heard several blocks away.
When I got there he'd just set up and was only playing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and another piece which consisted of only two notes, one octave apart, played over and over and over. Really squeaky and real loud. I didn't care and was having a good old time listening to him. But when I finally left he said "I practice, practice, practice. Come back later." I thanked him and went to lunch.
I came back two hours later. He was playing exactly the same thing.

FAO Project - UTF/HAI/023/HA: Short Term Action Plan for Food Production in Haiti (PACT-PV). The overall objective of the FAO Project (PACT-PV) is to revitalize the agricultural sector over a period of three farming seasons (winter 2008 through spring and summer of 2009) to have immediate impact on local production with priority given to the small, most vulnerable farmers. Indirectly, the project will also contribute towards expanding produce available at local markets from small farmers in the struggle against soaring food prices. The more immediate, short term objective of the project is to increase production and availability of small farmer produce through the following activities:
-Assisting the most vulnerable small farmers through increased production and distribution of high quality seeds and agricultural tools and equipment;
-Reinforcing capabilities of the National Seed Service (Service National Semencier - SNS) of MARNDR and partner institutions such as Farmers' Associations and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs);
-Increasing seed production in rural areas.

Installation of an irrigation network in a tree nursery. - - Conservation (Forestry Component): UTF/YEM/023. The project objectives cover a large range of activities: institution strengthening, watershed management, terracing rehabilitation, woodland management, nursery strengthening and expanding sand dune stabilization. Significant progress has already been made in their implementation. Institution strengthening has involved training professionals, meetings and contacts with didactic institutions, and technical on-the-job instruction. Watershed management has included preparing a management plan with methodologies for watershed surveys and planning, and implementing field activities. Terrace rehabilitation has the objective of rehabilitating degraded and abandoned terraces in order to prevent soil erosion and to reintroduce agricultural crop cultivation. The woodland management component of the project has prepared management plans, initiated tree planting, agro-forestry practices and maintenance of village nurseries. Existing nurseries have been strengthened, two new nurseries were established and public tree planting is under way. Sand dune stabilization activities include establishment of wind breaks, tree planting on wadi banks, study of sand movement and stabilization and rehabilitation of forest nurseries and flood control. These activities are mainly located in the southern governorates in the extreme dry zone, characterized by long droughts and sand dune encroachments. Very encouraging progress has been reported from Abyan, Lahj and Shabwa governorates, particularly in the establishment of wind breaks for individual farms and shelter belts as well as public tree planting and sand dune stabilization (20819-20868).
