Finally managed to get Justins USB power meter reading on an Arduino. The power meter is here www.xeropage.co.uk/powermeter.html it covers up to 6 GHz nicely and above that to over 10GHz with some loss of accuracy.
Most effort was in working out the API!

The Haier has a programming port (for firmware, etc.). It's not a USB host, but it DOES carry 5v just like a regular USB jack! And Ybox just so happens to like 5 volts. But man is that thing tiny... and surface mounted. And has no pins on back.

Tuesday 2009 September 8 - One thing that I like and dislike about Chinese no-name items is how easy they usually are to open. Surprisingly, the inside of this USB sound card/chip looks well made. Have only tested it a little today, but it seems to work adequately for my purposes.
Red LED shows when the card is muted. Green LED shows when the card is active; it also blinks when data is transferred through it.

My Belkin 7-port USB hub stopped working when I upgraded to Yosemite. Surprisingly this little guy which was a freebie from Google works, though my iPhone warns that it isn't supported and refuses to charge. It has a 5V input, but it didn't come with a power adapter.
