Back to lake Ullswater in Cumbria, taken in the late evening, two image put together one of the sky and the other of the lake and boats!
The Boxdorf Windmill is a former windmill built in 1849 in Boxdorf, a district of Moritzburg.
Until 1652, the Boxdorfer and the Reichenberger farmers had to grind their grain in the Plauenschen soil and in the (somewhat closer) Ockrilla Lease Mill. With the Saxon Constitution of 1831, the grinding force fell away.
The first mill at this site, a wooden pint mill, was built in 1839 by the miller Münch from Zuendorf on the Boxdorf Galgenberg (also: Gallberg). The grinding mill was able to grind eight to ten talents of flour daily. In 1847, the mill was sold to Müller Friedrich Wilhelm Seeländer from Weferlingen near Magdeburg. The mill burned down in a thunderstorm in 1849 in full operation.
Friedrich Wilhelm sold the remains to his brother Heinrich Christoph Seeländer and ran the Loschwitz watermill himself. Heinrich Christoph rebuilt the mill in 1849 as a stone, defensive-tower-like Dutch mill. This is testified by a sandstone with an engraved year above the original entrance door. Six years later Friedrich Wilhelm returned to Boxdorf in 1855 and took over the mill again from his brother. Around 1860 the house belonging to the mill was probably destroyed by arson. The existing residential building was then built.
In the German War of 1866, the Saxon Army, allied with Austria, gathered near Dresden and occupied the mill. The miller was no longer allowed to grind grain as a pressing.
Friedrich Wilhelm Seeländer died in 1877 as a result of a war suffering. Since his descendants had other professions or were too young, the mill came into foreign hands. Friedrich Hermann Müller bought the mill with three meals and a bakery for 11,100 marks. A lightning strike on 27 June 1887 did not result in a fire. Nevertheless, the roof, wings and wave were destroyed. Since in the meantime more efficient working machinery companies had taken over the business, a repair was no longer worthwhile. The mill came to a standstill.
The owner Müller was granted a concession for coffee and beer serving in 1890. Müller opened an economy and on the tower of the mill a wooden observation deck. This was replaced in 1904 by the still existing stone structure with pinnacles.
In 1921 Paul Gantze purchased the mill and had an electric grinding plant reached inside. He moved the banquet to the neighbouring apartment building. In 1927 he built a small hall. The property became a popular excursion restaurant that was in operation until the 1950s.

Spoonbill - Platalea leucorodia
Spoonbills are tall white waterbirds with long spatulate black bills and long black legs. In flight they fly with necks and legs extended, in the water they feed with elegant sideward sweeps of their bill. In the breeding season adults show some yellow on their breast and bill tip. The species is of European conservation concern and a very rare breeding bird in the UK. They are listed are listed on Schedule 1 of The Wildlife and Countryside Act. Most birds migrate south in the winter, but numerous individuals remain and winter in Western Europe.
Although they bred in East Anglia during Medieval times, spoonbills had not bred in Britain for over 300 years until 2010, when a small colony was discovered on the north Norfolk coast.
Until recently it was believed that this alkaline steppe was formed by the clear cutting of huge forests in the Middle Ages, followed by measures to control the course of the Tisza River, allegedly resulting in the soil's current structure and pH. However, Hortobágy is much older, with alkalinization estimated to have started ten thousand years ago, when the Tisza first found its way through the Great Hungarian Plain, cutting off many streams from their sources in the Northern Mountains. The formation was finished by grazing animals and wild horses during the Ice Age, followed by domesticated animals.

Toshogu Shrine (東照宮, Tōshōgū) is the final resting place of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate that ruled Japan for over 250 years until 1868.The shrine’s precinct consists of 55 buildings set in a poetic mist-laden forest. Grown from a single mausoleum, the complex is estimated to have cost the modern equivalent of 40 billion yen and required the manpower of over 400,000 carpenters, over the course of 17 months!
These birds are annoying. You cannot get close to them. If you do, it's only by accident, because you did not know the bird was in the tree you approached until it leaves at 150 mph, cackling at you all the way. VERY annoying...

November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.
With night coming early,
And dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket
And frost by the gate.
The fires burn
And the kettles sing,
And earth sinks to rest
Until next spring.

Until this moment I never was able to have a good look on roes, let alone to see their off-spring. I was informed there was a field with buckwheat where they gathered regularly.
So I went to that place and stayed there for a few hours, but nothing there.
Then I walked back to my car, and suddenly I saw a doe with two fawn in the distance, and I sneaked towards them. I was extremely lucky, they were standing on a little hill, not in the least worried by my presence. After a while the two fawns started even playing, running around and chasing each other.
This is the shot I like best from a large series of shots.
It's been in the news: "This is the first big partial eclipse to happen in the UK since 1999, and the next one isn't until August 2026, so this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity." - So all gear set up and waiting - hoping for a glimpse of that "once-in-a-generation" event...
BUT the weather didn't play by the rules where I live: Muddy skiess all morning... No sun to be seen, let alone the moon trying to cover it up...
Still, with all the gear in place, when the clouds went I decided to do a shot of the sun (background image - HDR'ed) and "post-processed" my moon in with Photoshop afterwards.
Ha: If you cannot rely on UK clear skies, create your own eclipse! ;-)

I stayed up until 1:00 a.m.to watch the special August moon but sadly did not get to see the meteors I had hoped to see, instead I saw a jigsaw puzzle cloud sky as shown here in my collage. Never-the-less it was fascinating.
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️
Humpback Covered Bridge (1857), Covington Virginia
"You never know what's there until you cross over." Anonymous
And also, you never know what the weather's going to do to you until you get there. The day started fairly well at Lexington but by the time I reached the bridge, not so much; completely overcast. Still, if nature gives you poor light, make a creepy photo, which at this 160+ year-old original bridge is fairly easy.
Humpback, at 106 feet long, is the only surviving curved span covered bridge in the USA and is the oldest covered bridge in the state of Virginia. The bridge was built in 1857 over Dunlap Creek, just west of Covington, when it replaced three previous bridges that were built and then later destroyed by floods; hence the added feature of an elevated arch to get this replacement span above the flood zone. The fact that Humpback Bridge is still standing with only one restoration 70 years ago is impressive, the fact that at the time it was built using only broad axes and put together with hand hewed locust pins is incredible.
The title is meant to have double meaning, as the phrase is commonly used to refer to the afterlife. Although those of us familiar with John 3:16 already know...

A little late arriving on this morning having been guilty of hitting the snooze button a couple of times.
Understandable given we didn't leave the curry house until nearly 22:30 and the alarm set for 04:00. I didn't take many shots preferring to soak it in and knowing that Buttermere was the next location and the main reason for this visit.
Two new locations for Helen with many accompanying 'Ooo's and ahhh's and my word it's beautiful,' being uttered.
Threw in a ten minute stop at Ashness Jetty too before the drive through Borrowdale and up and over Honister.

Looking out
Across the night-time
The city winks a sleepless eye
Hear her voice
Shake my window
Sweet seducing sighs
Get me out
Into the night-time
Four walls won't hold me tonight
If this town
Is just an apple
Then let me take a bite
If they say, "Why? Why?"
Tell 'em that is human nature
Why, why does he do it that way?
If they say, "Why? Why?"
Tell 'em that is human nature
Why, why does he do it that way?
Reaching out
To touch a stranger
Electric eyes are everywhere
See that girl
She knows I'm watching
She likes the way I stare
If they say, "Why? Why?"
Just tell 'em that is human nature
Why, why does he do it that way?
If they say, "Why? Why?"
(Do you really like me to be around?)
Tell 'em that is human nature
Why, why does he do it that way?
I like livin' this way
I like lovin' this way
That way (The way it was.)
That way (The way it was.)
Looking out
Across the morning
The city's heart begins to beat
Reaching out
I touch her shoulder
I'm dreaming of the street
If they say, "Why? Why?"
Tell 'em that is human nature
Why, why does he do it that way?
If they say, "Why? Why?"
(Just tell me you like me to be around.)
Ooh, tell 'em
Why, why does he do it that way?
If they say, "Why? Why?"
Why, why does he do it that way?
If they say, "Why? Why?"
(Just tell me you like me to be around.)
Ooh, tell 'em
Why, why does he do it that way?
And they say, "Why? Why?"
Ooh, tell 'em
Why, why does he do it that way?
They say, "Why? Why?"
(Just tell me you like me to be around.)
Why, why does he do it that way?

I was going back through my bug photos from last year, looking for a good one to add tonight since there's not much new happening out in nature right now here in the local area, when I came across this photo of a white-tailed deer fawn that I found out in the forest last spring while photographing insects. I'd forgotten that I even took the photo since I download all my bug photos into special files and wait until winter to look at them and then try to figure out what I found. I'm positive that I photographed this fawn that stood up at my feet with a macro lens
I'm so used to shooting wildlife but lately have been trying to explore new scenes. This is very new to me, lol a tractor.
Sommelsdijk is a village on the island of Goeree-Overflakkee, South Holland, the Netherlands, and part of the municipality of the same name. Sommelsdijk has (1 January 2006) 7,383 inhabitants which makes it the largest settlement on the island.
In the past, Sommelsdijk was the only place on the island of Goeree-Overflakee that was part of the province of Zeeland. In 1805 it was made a part of Holland, and remained such under the amendment of the Dutch Constitution of 1814.
Early March 1941 during the Second World War, nearly two hundred young men from Sommelsdijk were incarcerated for one month because of insulting the German army and the Dutch police.
Sommelsdijk was a separate municipality until 1966, when it became part of Middelharnis. Most recently, it was made part of the new municipality of Goeree-Overflakkee in 2013.
Re-Edited.
Around 2007 I thought that a small camera for my pocket was enough ... Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3, Canon PowerShot SX200 IS and Canon PowerShot SX210 IS until I bought another EOS1000D.
And yes, the trees in Germany sometimes have a number. It may be due to the fact that everything that is not regulated by law is prohibited in Germany. So, in principle.
Another aspect is that only about 25% of the employees are still working in real life and the rest are managing something and making meetings ... ;)
Lie, awake
and Watching you run through my head
I'm alone again
but not for long my friend
We face, another day
And distance has come, and taken you far away again
but I'll see you soon my friend
and then I'll sing you my song
I can't
Go home alone again
No I can't
My friend
Until then
Eyes I recognize
Taken me back, familiar to me from some other time
or maybe another life
remember our time
and know who I am
the memory it stays until we can breath as one again
and I'm coming back my friend
and then I'll sing you my song
Oh yeah
I can't
go home alone again
No I can't
go home all alone again
no I can't
my friend
Until then

“örttüm gecenin üstünü sen uyurken, kokladım sabahı en saf yerinden…”
Still here
I'm still here
I'm still here
You're so far away, so far away
Shut my eyes, I hear your voice
But it's barely there, just barely there
Why do we always do this to ourselves?
Living like two strangers in hell
So hey, don't you wanna be with me tonight?
I've got a bottle of rum that will see us through 'til morning light
We could talk things through like the good old days
Don't you remember? Don't you remember?
Or are you so far away?
It's just the part of me that meets the start of you
Don't get caught in between, when the bridge is falling through
I can't wake up, I can't wake up
Can we make up? Can we make up?
It's just the part of me that meets the start of you
Close the door it's getting cold
Are you staying in? I guess there's always room
If the Lord should take me tonight
Would you stand and stare, or would you fight?
So hey, don't you wanna be with me tonight?
I've got a bottle of rum that will see us through 'til morning light
We could talk things through like the good old days
Don't you remember? Don't you remember?
Or are you so far away?
It's just the part of me that meets the start of you
Don't get caught in between, when the bridge is falling through
I can't wake up, I can't wake up
Can we make up? Can we make up?
It's just the part of me that meets the start of you
Don't let it fall, don't let it fall
It's just the part of me that meets the start of you
I won't give up, I won't give up
It's just a part of me
I won't give up, I won't give up
It's just a part of you
Thanks for travelling along with me. Here's to many more grand adventures.
