Apparently I wasn't paying much attention to consistency when I snipped the tulips this week; I managed to level the colours but not the bouquet.

Oh well; a little layering never hurt anyone, (well unless you count that one haircut years ago....) at least the light is nice.

Hope everyone is healthy and staying safe.

This photo is inspired by Polen who is a great artist and photographer... and inspires me a lot!

I also wanted to give the shirts a brightest color than the rest of the background..

This striking photograph captures the soul-stirring trail to Kedarnath, one of the most sacred pilgrimage routes in India. The foreground reveals a rugged mountain path winding its way through dramatic Himalayan terrain—rocky, uneven, and etched with the footsteps of countless pilgrims over centuries. Clusters of devotees can be seen making their arduous ascent, some on foot, others on mules, wrapped in layers to protect against the biting mountain chill. Their faces reflect a blend of exhaustion and deep spiritual resolve. Makeshift stalls, fluttering prayer flags, and the occasional stone shrine dot the route, while the distant hum of chants and temple bells echo faintly through the cold, rarefied air. Rising behind them are the majestic snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas, glowing in the sunlight—silent, ancient witnesses to this timeless journey of faith.

The backdrop of the image—an expanse of towering Himalayan mountains—commands reverence. Among them, the Kedarnath Dome and Chaukhamba range rise with stoic elegance, forming a breathtaking curtain of ice and stone. These peaks not only define the geography but embody the spiritual magnitude of the place. The trail itself, though physically demanding, is more than a physical journey; it is a passage of inner awakening. The stark contrast between the raw, unforgiving landscape and the humble persistence of pilgrims creates an atmosphere of awe and quiet reflection. The air is thin, the temperature unforgiving, yet each step toward the Kedarnath temple is taken with unshakeable devotion and a belief in the divine power of Lord Shiva.

Steeped in legend, the history of Kedarnath dates back thousands of years. The temple, perched at 11,755 feet, is said to have been built by the Pandavas after the Kurukshetra war, and later revived in the 8th century by Adi Shankaracharya. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and holds immense importance in the Char Dham Yatra. Lord Shiva is believed to have vanished into the ground here in the form of a bull, leaving behind his hump—now enshrined within the temple. Despite enduring harsh weather and surviving the catastrophic 2013 floods, the temple stands strong, a symbol of faith and resilience. This photograph is more than a scenic memory—it captures a living tradition, where the ancient mountains, sacred myths, and enduring devotion come together in one powerful, timeless moment.

the desire to visit the cave that had seen the birth of Zeus was too strong, so for a few hours I had to leave the sea. The cave is located on Mount Ida and to get there you have to climb up the steep and uneven paths that the car can not cope. Also here there are the poor mules, but, at least on the day of my ascent of the mountain, they were not very exploited, between the outward and return I only saw two children on the back of a tired animal. The cave is large and deep and the steps designed to facilitate the access are very slippery due to the high humidity. I saw an American tourist slip for a lot of steps, his fall was fortunately stopped by the railings on the sides along the way.

Rio Paiva is a well-known Portuguese river, located in Serra Leomil and more particularly in the perish of Old Pear. The river flows into the Douro in the Castelo de Paiva. The question of which is North Portugal’s best place for rafting, is a difficult question to answer. North Portugal is gifted with many impressive landscapes and an unspoilt natural beauty. Being widely known for the perfect rafting conditions, Paiva River is the best place to practice this thrilling activity. From the town Castro Daire we manage to reach the rapids of the Paiva River. We were impressed and the scenery is gorgeous although it was not easy to reach. For this reason alone, you need proper shoes because of the loose stones on the hill and muddy uneven path. Having said that, if you plan to walk the full 16 km round trip, you’ll want decent footwear anyway.

The Rio Paiva, a river in north-east Portugal ia a tributary of the river Douro is widely known for the perfect rafting conditions. along the river we enjoy the breathtaking natural beauty, with picturesque landscapes, waterfalls and a variety of fauna and flora species.

I got a photo of Rebecca and Beth chatting while chalking up before workout this morning. What were they talking about? Their rips, their injuries, ice cream and their new skills on the uneven bars - typical gymnast stuff :-)

This is a nostalgic photo for me because I can remember the days of chatting with my friends while chalking up. The only thing missing from this picture would be grips for their little hands but I didn't want to make some. Besides, minifigures probably don't need dowel grips anyway, they can hang on to the bar well enough :-)

Now if I can just make a set of uneven bars for them........ I'm still working on that idea. By the way, that is my LEGO Trampoline behind them. Even though you can't tell it's a trampoline, I needed something back there to break up the boring grey wall......

****Update on June 8, 2016.... I just realized that today is "National Best Friends Day". I had no idea when I took this photo yesterday - it was a happy accident :-)

The tower bells were initially hung in the St. James´s Church tower. But when a new big Michael bell was acquired by the town authorities in 1604, it was said the bell made the whole tower quake when it rang.

They therefore decided to have a separate campanile built next to the church at municipality expenses in 1609. The municipality of Lipník started building with the support of the nobility. The Chronicle writes: "the Mayor and town council of Lipník anno domini 1609, on Friday after the commemoration of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. At some commandment of His Grace the Lord of Jiří Elder Bruntálský of Vrbno and on Helfenstein with knowledge and will of all the municipality of Lipník they bought the above written house to construct the tower for the bells at this point for a sum of 390 R by Jan Šmic. He received an earnest payment from the Lords for a cash of 50 R. "

The house was promptly demolished and eight days after the purchase, foundations were laid for the new tower. The bell tower was completed by the winter – 12th November 1609. It was built by Italian master Jan Mario Vlach. The stone was brought here from Prusy and Podolí.

The bells of the St. James´ Church were transferred to the bell tower, and thus spared from a great calamity during a fire; the bell tower remained unaffected.

The campanile in Lipník nad Bečvou is the only one in Moravia which preserved its original appearance and which in addition differs from the other preserved bell towers by its size. Its ground plan is 10 x 10 and its height is 24 m. It has square windows in the first and second floor and is provided with a side-hung window on the third floor in the front facade, the remaining windows are set up with semi-circular vault. In 2003, the windows of this floor were fitted with wooden shutters. They better transmit the sound of the bells and are more suitable than the metal coverings used until now. The sound of bells was reflected and the vibrations damaged the bells. Above the top floor, bell decoration is concentrated in the form of uneven arcades and attic friezes. “Due to its noble architectural differentiation and integrity of its exterior, this tower has no equivalent rival among the Renaissance monuments in Moravia, except the gate in the Street of the Mother of God in Jihlava“ wrote in 1933 Dr. Karel Svoboda, the Heritage Office Commissioner from Brno, in the article Art in the history of Lipník.

These little monsters are definitely masters of the uneven vertical unparallel bars (if there were such an Olympic sport! I guess that long pointy bill is not only good for snagging fish out of the water but is also useful for weaving your way between the tall reeds that grow in the bayou system! These little guys and gals are masters of weaving their way through the reeds like a hot knife through butter! Caught this Least Bittern trying to hide one morning in the reeds on Horsepen Bayou!
