Well last night was an adventure. We arranged with Salksi to pick her up and travel to an abandoned factory near Matlock only to find the place has been locked up tight. No amount of pulling or pushing could open the gate. Time for Plan 'B' so we headed off on a 20 minute drive to the lime kiln; a place I've visited many times before and is especially useful when it rains....
This is a smokin' Salski strutting her stuff.
A year or two ago, I got the chance to shoot a bunch of models in a giant tank of water. It was a great trigger happy day out with 3.5k shots in the bag.
Unfortunately, as the model gracefully moved around in the water, small bubbles or dusty debris were visible under the lights. I have quite a few shots unprocessed where the poses look great but the amount of "bits" in the water would take a lot of work to remove and so were left unprocessed.
Roll forward a few years and my skills with Photoshop have improved to the point where I can actually now be bothered to tackle the images I got.
This is Lucille in the tank, a model who nailed the poses compared to all the others!
In this abandoned building while everyone else was shooting, I had a wander around the site looking for new points of view to shoot. I struck lucky with this shallow channel full of water so I quickly assembled all the elements, including the model, and set off a smoke pellet to provide the atmosphere. Quick and easy to shoot but so effective.
Out and about in the dark before we all get locked down again, this time in an abandoned building with a couple of models (as you do!)
This is Salski Cymru New posing over a conveniently located trench full of water surrounded by leading lines everywhere for the vanishing point perspective:
Combining all my favourite things in one shot. Lightpainting, models and urbex, not necessarily in that order!
Stood inside an old decrepit Pullman railway carriage, the light outside was very bright and getting the lighting sorted inside wasn't easy. Neena nailed the poses while I struggled with the light!
Steel wire mesh fence really pushes the OCD to get the damn thing aligned! Another from the fab photoshoot with AidenVR
I go out of my way to create vibrant colours in my images and the black and white stuff ends up way more popular!
Sophia is back! Long time no see. But she joined Matt and me on our trip to Lanzarote a few month ago.

Recently I made arrangements to meet a couple of models (as one does) in an abandoned monastery near me called Roche Abbey. We started taking a few shots and grabbed a few 'keepers'. After about an hour we were asked to leave by the groundskeeper out walking her dog. She wasn't very polite but we decided to move on to another place a few miles away. I'm glad we did because I would never have got this shot of the unbelievable Gina.

Shooting a model in a graveyard of 20,000 mannequins is an opportunity that doesn't come around too often. It's been nearly two years since I shot this with Danielle Victoria Stokes but I hesitated to post this due to me pressing the wrong button on the back of my camera and inadvertently shooting the whole evening in 10mp crop sensor mode!!
The result is ok but I will always look at this and think, damn, I wished I'd shot it full bore!
Sophie on a wonderful beach on Lanzarote. It was windy af, but the light and the mood was insane.

The harbor is still asleep, masts drawing dark lines into a pale sky.
And she stands there in white, as if the night let her go and the day hasn’t claimed her yet.

This is a drainage channel, with an extra flash behind Sophie. Thanks to Matt, he spotted the location from above. So we did a run in the morning to explore the location and a shoot in the afternoon.
