This tall yellow-orange wildflower often appears with two identical side-by-side flower heads. I find it along edges of woods where it can receive partial sun during the day.

Two-spotted treehoppers (Enchenopa spp.) are made up of several species in which most have not yet been described. Western Regional Park, Howard County, Maryland.

Lila Mae& Baby .. Lila Mae was a Maine Coon that had been locked in a garage for seven years and rescued. Baby was my little Persian. I got him when he was 2 months old..I had Baby boy for 17yrs. He was my best friend and I also called him my little 'Grandpa Face '...I miss him everyday, as I do Sweet Lila Mae, whom I had for 4 years.
I know that they are both in a wonderful place cat napping and playing with all the other sweeties that crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
Guess they're on my mind as I'm moving and this is the place where they both lived with me .
I often play a card game called Thirteen, in which the two of hearts is the most powerful card. This shot doesn't do it justice.

Apologies for being well behind with my comments etc but the last couple of days have been somewhat overtaken by the illness of my brother-in-law! He is very poorly and well what can I say - we pray and live in hope!!
My wife and her sister remain at the hospital and as I've just recently returned home I'm taking my mind off of things by jumping into my archives as I haven't had my camera in my hand over the last couple of days!!
This one is from November when I had dropped my wife and daughter off at a shopping mall and Simon and I continued on a photo shoot. We ended up in a small town called Parrish which apart from these two trains could easily have been the location for that great movie Deliverance!! We didn't stay too long!!

showing nice age... probably 19-20th century.
The groove on the under side means it was probably used in ritual, a small stone would have been placed in this groove.
What I didn't notice when I purchased this was the repair to her foot! only when I looked at these photos.
These type of carvings were common in the late Ming - Ch'ing dynasties.

The Monastery complex in the name of Saint Regal Martyrs (Ganina Yama).
During long period excruciating death of tsar’s family was considered as historical drama, just tragic episode. It is astonishing but after wars and catastrophes, privations and sacrifices we had no tenderness, pudency and spirit strength to admit our guilt for made misdeed. But fortunately there were people remorseful of that bloody night’s occurrence. They secretly visited the place located far away of Ekaterinburg in deep forest. They came to this pit where tsar’s remains were burned. They came to recant, to ask forgiveness for this evil acts. The long road to the temple was started from these people.
In 1991 at the threshold of Soviet Union collapse the cross was installed at the place of imperator body and his family destruction for the first time. Within 1990s the cross was sometimes replaced; last time it was replaced in 1998 after its destruction by vandals. Small bunch of flowers are always at the bottom of the cross during summer and pine branches – during winter. Today massive cross made of fumed oak in accordance with
orthodox canons is installed above open pit where tsar’s remains were burn. It has inscription from the Holy Scripture: “I will not forgive him as he burnt the bones of Edom tsar into lime”. This inscription is like an echo of tragic events of 1918. It is last note made by the empress Alexandra Fedorovna in her diary who was killed in two hours by Bolsheviks. Scriptural words have become oracular words for tsar’s family.
In September of 2000 Alexiy II, the Patriarchy of Moscow and All Russia, went to Ganina Yama during his historical visit to the Ural. Here he hold the Divine Liturgy and gave his blessing to construction of the Monastery complex in the name of Saint Regal Martyrs. The best way of memory perpetuation in Russia is the construction of the church or the monastery foundation,” – told the Holly Patriarchy. “I hope the God will help us in construction of new church. I hope that continuous prayer will take place here. I hope that the place of tsar’s family killing and Orthodox treasure destruction will become the beginning of new life according to God’s laws” – these are the words of archbishop of Ekaterinburg and Vikentiy of Verkhotourie dated 1 October, 2000. The first stone was laid as the foundation of the first church of the Monastery complex in the name of Saint Regal Martyrs in that day.
But architectural concept of the monastery was not formed at once. In accordance with initial idea the complex should represent secluded skete with one church in the name of Saint Regal Martyrs, town residence of the Patriarch and cells. Then it was decided to expand this complex up to seven churches to hold seven Holy Liturgies at the same time. Unlike the skete which will not allow invitation of palmers the Monastery complex has mission feature like the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra.
All churches at Ganina Yama are made of the wood in accordance with the best traditions of Russian wooden architecture. “Do not spent time for decoration, leave
the time for prayers”, - holy fathers say. Therefore all buildings look very ascetic reminding about hard way of purifying, spiritual healing and satisfaction. Each church is equipped with furnace heating. The furnaces are laid out also according to the best Russian traditions: one cord of wood is enough for heating of whole building.
Whilst in Suffolk we visited the Suffolk Punch Trust. They are ensuring that the Suffolk Punch horse continues to exist. They are heavy horses, though not as tall as shires or clydesdales and they are alway chestnut. They also do not have the big 'feathering' around the hooves that most other heavy horses do.

"The Suffolk Punch is probably the oldest breed of working horse in the world to exist in a form which we can recognise today. It has the longest written pedigree of any such breed, as every Suffolk can be traced back to a stallion known as Crisps Horse of Ufford foaled in 1768.
The breed was confined to the Eastern Counties and only started to become popular in the rest of Great Britain at the end of the working horse era. Mechanisation was rapid on East Anglian farms, stimulated by the drive for food production in the Second World war and the breed declined drastically in numbers so that by the late fifties there were only five breeders of any size, one of them being the Home Office with their Colony Stud at Hollesley Bay, near Woodbridge.
The breed is unique in a number of ways especially in its chesnut colour. It has a very strong association with the people of East Anglia as the Suffolk would have touched the lives of most of them to a greater or lesser extent. Today, when the breed is very rare, the Suffolk Punch is still recognised as an icon for the County and as a most important feature of our countryside heritage."

Two American eateries - TGI Friday's and McDonald's.
I found that while in South Korea, the only way for me to blow a small fortune and overeat, as I often do stateside, was to go to places like TGI Friday's. I could easily spend ₩18,000 for a lunch. My strong preference was to stick to more traditional Korean-style eateries, blow at most ₩8,000, and eat a healthier meal of more modest proportions that still left me very full. Between the smaller, healthier meals and extensive walking, I lost significant body weight during my Seoul residence (though sadly I gained it back upon returning to Los Angeles).
At McDonald's, I didn't need to spend a small fortune. My preference when overseas is to visit McDonald's to get a feel for how the menu is localized. (In South Korea, I can have a bulgogi burger at McDonald's, for example.) And for comparison purposes, I like to visit a local competitor to McDonald's if I can - Lotteria is a good example in South Korea, while Quick fits into that description over in France.

Out getting fitted for new eyeglasses, I discovered these two rulers.
It bothers me that both of these rulers' scales are labeled on the left end as mm and 16ths, when plainly those are the smallest marks, but the numbers are for cm and inches. One could be confused.

Deserves to be seen LARGE.
