Raji has taken a series of photos, generously contributing them for me to post on my blog to narrate the Varalakshmi Puja which happens on the third Friday of Aadi Month in Tamil/Telugu calendars in South India. This is a prayer celebration attended mainly for women, to pray to the goddess for health, wealth and general good fortune.

This is what a Kalash looks like before dressing it. Here we see the pot with the turmeric covered coconut on top.
Raji says, "Mine is silver and one piece and reaches from the crown to the bust. The crown alone is dipped in gold. The eyes are already formed and painted on. Other jewelery is also added on - you can get the face without the jewellery too.
The kalasam is made up of a turmeric smeared coconut, placed on a siver/brass pot filled with rice, gold or silver coins, turmeric pieces. The face is pinned on to the coconut, and then decorated with flowers jewelery etc. The whole is placed in a plate, and then in a mandapam ( on a plantain leaf covered with rice.)"
Some wonder what to do with the coconut in the kalash after Varalakshmi Vratham. It's best to keep the coconut and use it for cooking withing your own house.
Notes= Devi and Amman are other words meaning Goddess.
Alayam, Nivas, Manadapam- other names for house of god/ meeting place.
Thank you for sharing these photos, Raji.

Varalakshmi Vratham Prayer Celebrations Video, Tutorial and Tips
Tutorial: Tips and Etiquette for Attending Varalakshmi Puja at Home or in Temple
Imagen a tamaño completo, aqui
0)
4)

ps. the wavy rotary blade is one of my favorites! they're about $6 and will switch out or you can have your own handle for it! It's like pinking shears on drugs!
Welcome to this tutorial where I welcome you to try what some might call unorthodox way of editing photos, but for the most part I find it relatively quick, easy, and most of all for free! Upon the requests I have received I invite you to come along and read through this tut. I have prepared for you.
If you haven't already you will need a photo-editing software such as Photoshop or anything else along those lines.
You can get GIMP 2.0 for free if you need it.

My photo set-up includes two lamps (IKEA Goose-necks work great, but any lamps angled towards the white 'studio' should do.) and a couple sheets of posterboard. You're starting image will look hopefully similar to this. If not try changing the contrast/brightness to get something similar.

good afternoon, beautiful friends : )
i am proud to announce that the ColorShift Intro Tutorial is now up and available for your viewing pleasure.
the video is about 12 minutes long, and gives you a walkthrough of how ColorShift is designed and organized, and why it's organized that way.
i also talk about the functions of the three different sets within ColorShift and demonstrate its three levels of use: Sight-Seeing, Adventuring & Exploring.
i believe this will give you a better insight into how to use the set to increase the joy and exploration you find in your own post-processing work : )
in celebration of the release, i'm opening up a new promo code, which is the word: INTRO. the first 25 people to take advantage of the code will save 10% : )
many blessings, and much love,
jesh ; )
p.s. i am considering producing a full-length, in-depth post-processing tutorial which would walk you through my process on several images from start to finish. if you would be interested in investing in such a tutorial if it were made, please comment and let me know. the more interest i have, the more of a priority it would be.
