Aircraft Supplied by VT Services and used for basic training for the RAF

The Secondary school at Buttershaw has had a number of name changes since its opening in 1956.

In 1956 it opened as Buttershaw Secondary School , since then it has been Buttershaw Comprehensive, Buttershaw Upper School and Buttershaw High School. Currently it enjoys the name of Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College.

The original 1956 buildings were extended in the early 1960. Further building work continued during the 70’s 80’ and 90’s.

In 2008 the new building was opened and the old building demolished.

The Avro Tutor entered service with the RAF in 1933, and as well as their training role, were frequently seen in aerial formation displays. They were mainly military aircraft, and less than twenty were in private use.

The Tutor seen here was part of the RAF's original production batch of 1933, and is the last of its kind still flying!

It is powered by an Armstrong Siddley Lynx engine with a maximum Max speed of 106 knots.

Let me ask y'all this - when one is hired to tutor, does that imply sitting somewhere and helping someone with assigned work, a curricula, if you will, that is already laid out? Or does that imply creating a curricula and set of lesson plans replete with individualized materials for each session? Hmmm, the later seems to be more TEACHING FROM SCRATCH. And yet, each week, I spend 2 hours generating from thin air, creating, fine-tuning, and planning materials before going off to tutor for two hours for a child who has never done homework from school and whose parents prefer to pay the private school tuition AND me. Fascinating.

Anyhoo, here are some of the exercises I came up with for the lad.

Construction of a new 1,200,000-square-foot acute care facility located on the Westwood campus of UCLA.

. . . and so, I did tutor the same student again on Monday morning. and despite having a game plan, and discussing expectations with him on Sunday night, and despite us reviewing our plan and what we needed to get done when I arrived on Monday morning, well, let's just say I stayed 30 minutes longer than I had "contracted" for, endured thrown items and yelling, and got home at 10:45 am and truly, really, needed a drink. No joke.

So, when I looked at this check and realized it represented 2 hours of prep time and pulling together materials for this student, 2 round trips to his house, and 150 minutes of "time in seat" with him, it made my heart hurt a little bit. I like students. I ADORE education. I hate renting out my expertise in such circumstances. Meh.

The "rock on" finger placement was accidental, but when I saw it it was ironic enough to make me smile after the fact.
