After a couple of pictures, I did help this one across. He just didn't seem to appreciate me at all!!!
This is what a Box Turtle is supposed to do when confronted by a predator, or, in this case, me. They have the ability to completely close themselves in.
Unlike the one that lives in my yard, this guy had the right idea - to slam shut!
There were actually FOUR today, but #4 was very shy. This one let me get right up on him (or her). Those EYES...

A recovering sea turtle at the Jekyll Island Sea Turtle Center. They had a hospital of sorts where they would operate on and care for various sea turtles. There are several nesting sites on Jekyll Island so they are somewhat common here.
Jaws is the oldest Galapagos tortoise in the Honolulu Zoo, Oahu. He is blind so I have to feed him directly. He loves to bathe in the warm sun.
