This black & white photograph captures the angled corridor walls, light qualities, and material composition from within the fire station at the Vitra campus in Germany, designed by renowned architect Zaha Hadid. The soft light gradation and reflections on the metal wall is juxtaposed by contrast and materiality. The distraction of color is eliminated by photographing in B&W, allowing the contrasting qualities to dominate the scene.
Photograph was taken in Weil am Rhein, Germany.

Sky Mirror
Part of Anish Kapoor's Turning the World Upside Down.
From the website:
The free exhibition will showcase a series of major recent works never before shown together in London. Constructed from highly reflective stainless steel, the giant curved mirror surfaces will create illusory distortions of the surroundings and will be visible across large distances, creating new vistas in this famous and much-loved setting.
The sculptures will be sited to contrast and reflect the changing colours, foliage and weather in Kensington Gardens. Despite their monumental scale, the works appear as pure reflection of their surroundings: the sky, trees, water, wildlife and changing seasons. The distortions in the works’ mirror-like surfaces call into question the viewers’ relationship to both the work itself and the surrounding environment.
It runs: 28 September 2010 – 13 March 2011
The landmark of Malmo, Turning Torso, which located near the West Habour always attract me to take a photo. It was designed by the Spanish architect "Santiago Calatrava". The tower reaches a height of 190 metres (623 feet) with 54 stories. The construction started in the summer of 2001 and opened in 2005.

Quilt made from the Turning Twenty pattern by Tricia Cribbs. Fabric used is from the Scrappy Dots line by Judie Rothermel for Marcus Brothers fabrics. Pieced by Cheryl Jefferson, quilted by Lois Hembree, November 2006.
Dimensions: 9" diameter x 2" deep
Finish: boiled linseed oil and shellac
Features: burl grain pattern, bark inclusions, voids, partial natural bark rim
This bowl features about everything someone who appreciates the natural look could want; some of the beautiful grain cherry is prized for, some wild burl grain, a bit of natural bark on the rim, and some natural edge left on the outside. The color makes a nice transition from the paler outside sap wood into the red heart wood. This is just a stunning piece.

well...malmös most photographed object. i'm rather tired of torso pix, but when i got there the other day the camera crawled out of the case, unmounted the lens cap and zoomed in on the famous fallos figure all by itself. it is a spectacular building. it's a different house from every new angle you see it...yes.
so here is.
This was the fastest turtle I've ever met! The boys I was photographing caught it right before our session and insisted I include him. They wanted a pic of him flipping and this is it. I think he was terrified...fortunately he got away!
This pasture is done. The calves have been paired back up with the cows & turned back out to pasture.
