We have had an amazing summer and the lovely weather continues. It's unusually warm for the time of year in Finland, but the leaves are starting to turn.
"Turning Tides" is the name of a series of public art installations on Gainsborough's Riverside Walkway. Just off the walkway, but officially part of "Turning Tides" are the two Georgian toll houses by Gainsborough Bridge, which were fitted with coloured lighting as part of the project. Not sure it works anymore....

I made this photo the other night in downtown Chicago after I met with the mad photographer Jez Coulson. He has a love for blurring cabs and I had caught this by luck when I noticed this motorcycle come around the corner.
Taken at Sleeping Giant Provincial Park near Thunder Bay, Ontario. We hiked the Chimney trail, which took us up to the Giant's knees. It was about a 25km round trip, much of it steep. Not being morning people, we arrived at 2:30pm. At the top of the Giant, I was enamoured of the view and the amazing light. I spent a lot of time taking photos before it occurred to us that the sun would soon be setting. This photo was taken right about the time we decided to turn back. We started the long descent and didn't reach the truck until 1am. The last 8km or so were done completely in the dark without a flashlight. As I walked in the dark, I remembered all of the bear droppings we had seen on the way up.

This shot is mostly dominated by Rosebay Willowherb leaves but I thought the color concentration in this little patch was gorgeous!
