Still need to pick out more leaves from my bed and add fresh mulch, but here are the tulips putting on a show. This is the third year for them which is pretty good since I thought they would be devoured by rodents by now.
I would like to plant more daffodils this fall. They are so bright and cheerful.
One of those garden animals will be moved to a different bed. All three of them (including a hedge hog) ended up in that bed. That dog was my father in laws before he passed away.

I'm usually not one to photograph flowers at all, but looking at this, I felt somehow cheerful. Thought I'd share the joy! ;)

I've never photographed tulips before, and I don't grow them, so I had to buy these at the local supermarket. I intend to document them as they open up and change.
These were lit with an SB600 in a softbox at the left of the camera, and another SB600 in a softbox to the right of the camera. I used the manual setting on the strobes and adjusted the power until I got the look I wanted. Because I exposed at F22 at 1/180 second at ISO 200 , there was no ambient light recorded so the background went black.
Other plants and flowers that I've lit with strobes can be seen here....http://www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157628079460544/
