Perfect batch of outdoor Truth.

That is the title of the sculpture by Rolf Brommelsick, which has stood in St. Pete’s Vinoy Park since 1982.

It is only when we silent the blaring sounds of our daily existence that we can finally hear the whispers of truth that life reveals to us, as it stands knocking on the doorsteps of our hearts.

Sorry I haven’t visited or posted much lately – life can get busy. I’m hoping to do more of both in the coming weeks; take care!

In Kalamazoo the event began in 2 places at Veterans Park, and also in front of the Kalamazoo Federal Building. While there was not a large count of warm bodies for this cold February day, there was a warm reception from several passing cars. Occupy Kalamazoo remains supportive in calling for justice for the young military private, (as we’ll as relevant case for Wikileaks founder Assange).

Here are some video reports from the action:

This is an original saying from my best friend's father. :)

Based on sayings from Demotivators.

Can anyone else think of a funny or better saying?

Mol Truth outbound Rotterdam

Al haq qabil kull shay-in. Another treatment of the same phrase, this time with decorations on the lettering and flowers in the bare bits.

I like this phrase: the truth before everything. This has meaning on many levels: being true to yourself, being true to your religion, speaking the truth, and putting god before everything - because Al Haq is one of the 99 names of Allah.

I got the phrase from yucefs.artbismillah.org, who is an amazingly talented graphic designer and calligrapher; but the calligraphic design is entirely mine.

I wish I had thicker pens because it would be nice to have "Al haq" (the bit on top) in thicker strokes, but I make do with what I have.

As of August 2009 I have realised that people may do the design first in pencil and then go over it in ink. This is not surprising - that was how we were taught in art class for Western calligraphy, because you don't know how much space you will need otherwise.

This was done without any pencil preparation, and I don't draw lines to help me keep the text straight (it seems to be fairly straight anyway). The most challenging bit is to try to get the characters split up across lines in a logical way, since I don't know enough Arabic to be sure of what I'm doing, and transliterations on the Internet often run several words together.

It's been a challenge trying to fit everything properly into a sheet of paper but I don't have much of a choice - the inks seem to smudge if I try going over them with an eraser. Minor mistakes can be fixed with Microsoft Office Picture Manager and Microsoft Paint (I don't have Photoshop), but with major mistakes I just start over with a fresh sheet of paper.

Better Brothers Los Angeles teamed up with the Diva Foundation at the historic Wilshire Ebel Theater in Los Angeles.

The event is sponsored by Gilead, AIDS Healthcare Foundation, and the generous support of businessman and activist Gerard McCallum.

The Truth Awards will benefit the DIVA Foundation and its partnership with Better Brothers LA with several initiatives aimed at affirming and strengthening the African American LGBTQ community educationally, financially, physically and socially. Proceeds will also benefit the Better Brothers LA Book Scholarship and other programming needs of the organization. For more information about the organization and its scholarship program

ABOUT BETTER BROTHERS LOS ANGELES

Better Brothers Los Angeles was created to provide spaces for Black gay men to network, socialize and be BETTER – at life, love and community. Developing a sense of community has been a challenge for some Black gay men, given the cultural and religious opposition to their sexual orientation. As those challenges have receded in mainstream society, they still present significant difficulties and constrain a sense of well-being for Black gay men within the Black community. Better Brothers Los Angeles has sponsored cultural, recreational, and social/networking events, and continues to create a community where Black gay men and women can walk with a greater sense of confidence and pride. ABOUT THE DIVA FOUNDATION

The DIVA Foundation -- founded in 1990 by Tony-nominated actress and HIV/AIDS advocate Sheryl Lee Ralph -- is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, created as a living memorial to the many friends she lost to HIV/AIDS as an original cast member of the Broadway musical “Dreamgirls,” and because of her concern for the threat HIV/AIDS posed to women and children. Over the years, the DIVA Foundation has worked to break the silence and erase the stigma still connected to HIV/AIDS and encourage people to get tested in order to know their HIV status.

In a garden of memories, we meet each other everyday.
