The Delaware Trust Building, a Classical Revival style commercial/office tower, stands prominently at the northeast corner of E. 9th and N. Market Streets. The building is significant under National Register criterion "C" in the area of architecture for its outstanding example of the Classical Revival style with Renaissance elements in the local context, and as a major work by the architecture firm of Dennison and Hirons, with later large additions modeled after the original design. The period of significance begins in 1921 with the completion of the construction of the Delaware Trust Building and ends in 1930 with the construction of the wings that completed the U-shaped plan.

A Memorial Flight and War Time Exhibition organised by Frinton & Walton Heritage Trust held on the greensward, Esplanade, Frinton-on-Sea .

A Spitfire from the RAF's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight was due to carry out a flypast to Pilot Officer Gerard Maffett , who was killed bailing out of his fighter aircraft in WWII at Walton on the Naze Essex.

Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions the Spitfire was grounded.

Nearly everyone in the UK lives within half an hour’s drive of a battlefield. Some, like Hastings, Bosworth and Culloden, are familiar to most of us. Others are relatively unknown. This is the first one of these I've seen in forever.. At one time, all gas pumps had these little windows in them, with little balls in them that swirled around, proving to the Doubting Thomas in us that gasoline was in fact being pumped into our cars.. Without these, you just have to assume that the pump is actually moving gasoline through the hose until you get back into the car and check the gage.

But now they have those "vapor recovery" boots on them - and how do we know they aren't "recovering" more than just vapor? What's to keep them from sucking back just a little gasoline from each tank - the way the butcher used to "accidentally" rest a thumb on the scale as he weighed your beef...

Ah - paranoia - it never lets you rest, does it...

The Wall!

The wall of the Bothy

Betrayal by Danielle Steele

Tallie Jones is a Hollywood legend – an ambitious and passionate film director who creates award-winning productions. But she has little interest in the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles, instead focussing intently on her work and family.

She has close, loving relationships with her daughter, her elderly father and Hunter Lloyd – her co-producer and partner of four years. Completing her trusted circle is Brigitte Parker – Tallie’s best friend and devoted personal assistant.

However as Tallie is in the midst of directing her most ambitious film to date, small disturbances start to ripple through her faultlessly ordered world. An audit reveals worrying discrepancies in her financial records, which have always been maintained by her loyal accountant. Receipt hint at activities of which she has no knowledge.

Someone close to Tallie has been steadily helping themselves to enormous amounts of her money. Her once safe world is suddenly shaken to it’s very core – and Tallie is in shock, trying to figure out who has betrayed her among those she trusts and holds dear…..

Lyme Park, Cheshire.

The National Trust.

Sir Francis Legh's Clock Collection.

The longcase clocks include three by Thomas Tompion, one by George Graham and an amazing marquetry clock by Henry Young with a very unusual arch dial and long pendulum. There is also a clock by William Grimes with unique marquetry showing hunting scenes and stags.

Francis Michael Legh was one of the last children to grow up at Lyme. He was the third son of the Hon Richard Legh who became the 3rd Lord Newton.

Francis was an equerry to HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother before becoming Private Secretary to HRH The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon in 1959. He was made Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 1968 and remained Treasurer to Princess Margaret until his death in 1984.

Throughout his life Sir Francis maintained a passion for horology amassing one of the most important collections of English clocks. The other great interests of his life was Lyme. Even after the estate had been bequeathed to the National Trust, Sir Francis held a deep devotion to the estate as well to those who worked here.

In his will Sir Francis generously left his magnificent collection of clocks to the National Trust, stipulating they should be displayed at Lyme for visitors to enjoy. In the intervening years, several other special clocks have been added to the collection.
