seven months ago when trump came into office many say give him a chance and it seems the reasonable thing to do. then things begin to change. first the wall to keep mexicans out. okay most of us aren’t mexican. it’s not nice but it doesn’t affect us. so we look away. then the muslim ban. hack we aren’t muslims, this does not affect us either. so we look the other way too. then the attack on science. okay, who is good at science? and how many scientists do you know anyways? it’s sooo a non-issue. life goes on. then comes attack on climate change. well we have air conditioners and sea level rise is so slow we will be probably be killed by the big earthquake long before the water reach our doors. sooo not a worry. then comes the attack on trans. well we aren’t trans. we can still go to the bathrooms and we still have our jobs. life is not perfect. that’s the way it has always been. now alt-right, white supremacists, kkk, neo-nazis, neo-confederates are beating people up in the streets and running people over with car in broad day light, fulfilling donald trump’s promise. now sudden it affects all of us. the victim at charlottesville, heather heyer’s last message was “if you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention”. yes most of us weren’t paying attention. that’s how we get here. that’s how we allow the barb wires to creep up our bodies. now the wires are wrapped around our necks, we can no longer look away. we have no choice but to pay attention, and act, now.
