like many i'm looking towards monday with foreboding. i know the result is inevitable but that does not make it any more pleasant. to take my mind off this impending day of infamy i have decided to spend the afternoon editing photos. it's kinda of boring really because my mind wasn't into it. that is until i come across this photo. now i always love indian corns ever since i was a child. they remind me of beadworks which i did when i was much younger. my beadwork eventually stopped because it became boring. but my love of indian corn remains. anyways when i come across this photo again today a new thought comes to mind. that this indian corn is very much like america. we are all colours, all cultures, all religions. and like this corn the beauty of america comes from our differences, differences that amplify our individuality and enrich our experiences. and this corn develops this beautiful tapestry of colours without direction from central authority, just kernels of different hues coming together, accommodating, buttressing and complementing each other. and it seems like as long as we do what these kernels do in our schools, at our work places and in our communities, multiply that by a thousand fold across the country, whoever sits in the white house really doesn't matter because we together are the country. so monday does not have to be the day of gloom. it can be the day we rededicate ourselves to strengthen this tapestry that is our birth right, to build the america we always want not by laws or edicts but by an unwavering commitment to conduct ourselves with decency and civility towards each other. let's rebuild our dream and make america great, one kernel at a time
