"You can't win everytime, darlin'," my dad said to me on the phone when I called him between rounds. And he's right. If there's one thing my dad taught me, it's that someone else will always be smarter, prettier, skinnier, whatever. You can't always be the best.
But man, it sucks to lose. We came in second, which is technically "first loser" which allowed me some modicum of comfort. What DIDN'T give me any comfort, though, was the fact that we COULD have won if we stopped second guessing ourselves for two seconds. Plus there was a tie for third place, and one of the teams sent up someone that WASN'T on their team to arm wrestle. The bearded man from Team-Stands-by-the-Bar called shenanigans and told the announcer (who, btw, gets hotter every week), but nothing happened. I just took comfort in the fact that they cheated a little bit. Team the Electric Space Jesuses, Part 2? NOT CHEATERS.
But not winners. BUT we had a blast. Sharon apparently thinks it's fun that we lost in this picture. Just kidding, dude. Sharon came up with some particularly clutch answers this week and it was a pleasure to have her. We'll be back next week. I think part of the problem was that we didn't have a booth, so I plan to remedy this by showing up early with a book and planting my butt in a booth and NOT moving.
Until next week!
