Trinity has been a viable North Atlantic community for hundreds of years. Its defensible harbour, with abundant room for the ships of the day and shores well suited for outbuildings, wharves and fish-flakes, made it ideal for the early migratory fishery. Later, merchants from Poole, England, made Trinity the base for a new-world fishery.

During the 1720's Trinity was home to about 30 permanent families and host to 200-300 seasonal fishermen per year. By 1869, the population peaked at more than 800 people. Until recently, the inshore, Grand Bank and Labrador fisheries sustained the community. Lumbering, coopering, shipbuilding and other trades have been prominent. Historically, education was an important component of the community, with navigation and business education being taught at Trinity's Commercial School. Eventually, this school was merged with the grade school into a general High School. The teachers who taught in these schools included some of Newfoundland's leading educators and scholars.

The preservation of Trinity's cultural and built heritage has made it perhaps the most notable "heritage community" in the province. Sustainable growth in existing and new businesses, including theatre, is clearly evident as Trinitarians, along with residents of the surrounding communities, play host to thousands of visitors per year.

Trinity is centrally located and generally within an hour's drive of other points of interest on the Bonavista Peninsula. It is about 3 hours by road from the capital city, St. John's.

Each year, the snakes gather to enjoy the sun at this place. Each year tons of photographers gather to shot them... So did I! ;)

I shot this over the weekend, since I didn't have the tripod with me, this was hand held. I ended up throwing out the last exposure because it was 1 second and slightly blurred. I was pretty happy the 1/2 second shot was sharp, so this is a 4 exposure HDR.

Trinity Bridge (Russian: Тро́ицкий мост) is a bascule bridge across the Neva in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It connects Kamennoostrovsky Prospect with Suvorovskaya Square. It was the third permanent bridge across the Neva, built between 1897 and 1903 by the French firm Batignolles. It is 582 meters (1,909 ft) long and 23.6 meters (77 ft) wide. Former names of the bridge are Equality Bridge (Russian: мост Ра́венства, 1918-1934), and Kirovsky Bridge (Russian: Ки́ровский мост, 1934-1999)

Snow in Trinity Square, Toronto. Trinity Square is a public square in downtown Toronto. It's bounded by the Toronto Eaton Centre, an office building known as Bell Trinity Square, and the Marriott Downtown Hotel. The square's primary feature is the Anglican Church of the Holy Trinity which you can see at the end of the snow-covered path. The Henry Scadding House and Holy Trinity Rectory are heritage buildings also located in the square. These are around the back of the church to the right. Trinity Square also has a fountain and ornamental pond, and a labyrinth path (which I couldn't see under all the snow) but is on my list for a return visit :) It also has an ornamental clock. I've only ever seen the square in the summer so it was lovely seeing it with all the snow.

150th Anniversary Event 1866-2016 - Held at Islandbridge on Saturday 16th April 2016

Trinity Church, located at Broadway and Wall Street, is an active Episcopal church with a deep history. In 1697, a little over 70 years after the Dutch settled New York as a trading post known as New Amsterdam, Trinity Church was granted a charter by King William III of England. Since then, Trinity has been an integral part of New York City. Today, Trinity Church and St. Paul’s Chapel (just a few blocks north) are the cornerstones of Trinity Church Wall Street, a growing and vibrant Episcopal community.

Worship services are offered in Trinity Church throughout the week, including morning and evening prayer and a noonday Eucharist every weekday. On Sunday, the Trinity community gathers for Holy Eucharist at 9am and 11:15am, which is webcast live. All are invited to attend. Music by Trinity’s renowned choir is integrated into many of the services and free concerts are held throughout the fall and spring. Find a calendar of worship services, concerts, and other events here.

The steeple’s 12 change-ringing bells are the only set in the United States; they rotate a full 360 degrees, producing a shimmering, cascading sound in a complex combination of changing tonal patterns. They can be heard on Sundays and special occasions.

The present building is the third on the site, consecrated in 1846 and designed by British-born architect Richard Upjohn in the 19th century Gothic Revival style. The first church was lost in New York’s Great Fire of 1776 and the second was demolished in 1839, at Upjohn’s suggestion, after heavy snowfall revealed structural problems. The current building is a registered National Historic Landmark.

Visitors to the church can view the decorative bronze doors at the Broadway entrance; see some of the oldest stained glass in the United States; or stop for a moment to pray in the nave or All Saint’s Chapel, located in the northwest corner of the church. Trinity’s churchyard is also open to visitors who wish to see the gravesite of Alexander Hamilton and other historical memorials and monuments, or enjoy a moment of quiet in the midst of busy Lower Manhattan.

Free guided tours are offered Monday-Friday at 2pm and Sundays after the 11:15am service. Trinity’s Tour app also provides a virtual guide through Trinity and St. Paul’s Chapel. Free Visitors Guides in five languages are also available in the Church Gift Shop.

History of Trinity

Trinity charms visitors on at least two accounts. Many newcomers are struck by the natural beauty of the area, a magnificent harbour and the splendid maritime setting. Others are touched by a powerful sense of history (Old Worldliness) and the pride of place instilled by the cultural landscape. Trinity is a community whose personality has been largely shaped by the sea. The harbour has been proclaimed as one of the best in Newfoundland, even one of the finest in the world. The harbour not only provided abundant shelter and good holding ground, but was also spacious. It was once claimed to hold the entire British Navy.

Trinity Harbour has provided access to and refuge from the North Atlantic since the early 16th century when it was first used by European fishermen. West Countrymen from England began using it as a summer station in the migratory fishery in the 1570s, and in 1615 Richard Whitbourne (later Sir Richard) held a Court of the Admiralty, the first of its kind in the New World. Since then Trinity has been the scene of many other significant historical events.

Down Town Tour late afternoon. It didn't take long to get really dark. I got of the Bus here to look around the World Trade Centre and 9 11 Tribute Memorial. It was really dark when I got back on the bus again.

Because I only had one full day in New York I took back to back Hop On Hop Off Buses. Some of the images are not very good as the bus would go over bumps etc,. I have kept them in as memorises of the day. I only got off the bus once so most of the photos were taken as we were travelling along. Sadly I just didn't have time to have a good walk around.

I woke to a lovely sunny day and not too cold with around 16c. As the day went on it clouded over a bit and cooled down. November 7, 2018 USA
