Holy Trinity / St Nicholas, Lower Ettington Warwickshire, in the grounds of Ettington Park Hotel www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/destinations/europe/united-kin... the ancestral home of the Shirley lords of the manor.
It was a 12c Norman building with later additions. After Henry Shirley had an altar to St Nicholas erected in early 13c , it was also dedicated to that saint. A north aisle with three-bay arcade was added in the 14c. The windows on the south side of the nave were replaced in the 17c
In 1794 a parish vestry meeting decided to replace the ancient church with a new one in Upper Ettington, which had become the centre of population even before Evelyn Shirley had the old village demolished. In 1795 Parliament passed an act authorising this and in 1798 the new church of St Thomas Becket of Canterbury was consecrated.

The rest of the original church, including its tower, survives as a roofless ruin .

The doctrine of the Trinity defines God as three divine persons or hypostases: the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit; "one God in three persons". The three persons are distinct, yet are one "substance, essence or nature". A nature is what one is, while a person is who one is. According to this central mystery of Christian faith, there is only one God in three persons: while distinct from one another in their relations of origin (as the Fourth Lateran Council declared, "it is the Father who generates, the Son who is begotten, and the Holy Spirit who proceeds") and in their relations with one another, they are one in all else, co-equal, co-eternal and consubstantial, and each is God, whole and entire. Accordingly, the whole work of creation and grace is a single operation common to all three divine persons, in which each shows forth what is proper to him in the Trinity, so that all things are from the Father, through the Son and in the Holy Spirit. Scripture does not contain expressly a formulated doctrine of the Trinity: it bears witness to the activity of a God who, according to the Christian theology, can only be understood in trinitarian terms. The doctrine did not take its definitive shape until late in the fourth century. During the intervening period, various tentative solutions, some more and some less satisfactory were proposed. Trinitarianism contrasts with nontrinitarian positions which include Binitarianism (one deity in two persons, or two deities), Unitarianism (one deity in one person, analogous to Jewish interpretation of the Shema and Muslim belief in Tawhid), Oneness Pentecostalism or Modalism (one deity manifested in three separate aspects)...

Trinity has been a viable North Atlantic community for hundreds of years. Its defensible harbour, with abundant room for the ships of the day and shores well suited for outbuildings, wharves and fish-flakes, made it ideal for the early migratory fishery. Later, merchants from Poole, England, made Trinity the base for a new-world fishery.
During the 1720's Trinity was home to about 30 permanent families and host to 200-300 seasonal fishermen per year. By 1869, the population peaked at more than 800 people. Until recently, the inshore, Grand Bank and Labrador fisheries sustained the community. Lumbering, coopering, shipbuilding and other trades have been prominent. Historically, education was an important component of the community, with navigation and business education being taught at Trinity's Commercial School. Eventually, this school was merged with the grade school into a general High School. The teachers who taught in these schools included some of Newfoundland's leading educators and scholars.
The preservation of Trinity's cultural and built heritage has made it perhaps the most notable "heritage community" in the province. Sustainable growth in existing and new businesses, including theatre, is clearly evident as Trinitarians, along with residents of the surrounding communities, play host to thousands of visitors per year.
Trinity is centrally located and generally within an hour's drive of other points of interest on the Bonavista Peninsula. It is about 3 hours by road from the capital city, St. John's.

I shot this over the weekend, since I didn't have the tripod with me, this was hand held. I ended up throwing out the last exposure because it was 1 second and slightly blurred. I was pretty happy the 1/2 second shot was sharp, so this is a 4 exposure HDR.

Trinity College (now Trinity Washington University), organized in 1897, is a women's college established across Michigan Avenue from Catholic University and intended to be like Radcliffe is to Harvard. The handsome main building, constructed in phases beginning in 1899, was designed by Philadelphia ecclesiastical architect Edwin Forrest Durang (1829-1911). Durang met his demise when he was out surveying a new construction site in the June heat and died from a heart attack on the same day that one of his six daughters was to be married. The wedding took place anyway.

As close as you can get to the Trinity Site, the site of the first atomic bomb test, July 17, 1945. The actual site is 13.5 miles between the two mountains and is open only one day per year. Unfortunately, you can no longer add a note to a photo in the new version of Flickr. The actual site is approximately where the gap in the mountains is to the center right of the photo.
