Crocus.
Why do I keep making this mistake? You know, think a lot, have a great idea, take the picture and then read the theme in detail… I’m sure it doesn’t happen to anyone else...
This is for the Smile on Saturday group’s theme Threesame.
So three horses were off. An then the three catkins weren’t good enough, and three pins, nails, clothespegs were all too fiddly for my time-deprived Saturday…
But here are some of the spring crocus taken earlier in my garden. With the unseasonably warm weather we’ve had we seem to be careering towards summer… Time to get the winter pruning done then, lol.
Not the best of shots (I wasn’t thinking of three at the time) and produced under rather fraught circumstances, but at least I am consoled by being able to join in :)
Happy Smile on Saturday everyone.
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. HSoS :)
[Developed in Capture One for colour and trying to take the background down. Sharpened in Affinity especially trying to retrieve the detail in the stamen (using a mask) - only partially successful. Slight dark vignette. Give up. Move on ... :)]

My 5x5 trifold holiday card that I printed with WHCC. I had a sample back printed but ultimately decided to go with the linen paper. I love them!!

Trifold oinochoe attributed to the “Silen Painter”. On the center of the scene, the “Master of the Animals”, an iconographic motif originated in the East, common in Crete, Greece and spread in the Etruria. The Master is represented as a youth wearing a short chiton and winged boots, moving toward right. The young man is portrayed between two confronting and roaring lions; with his hands he grabs the forepaws of each lion, the other paw lies on his upper arm. From each side, a woman wearing a long sleeve dress rushes toward the youth holding a three-leaved plant with her stretched hand. Neck: palmette with red core on volute stems, alternating with lower buds on stems.
The “Silen Painter” was active in Vulci and his production can be referred to the so called “Pontic Group” operating in Vulci between 550/540 and about 520 BC. The production of Pontic vases in Etruria was initiated by Greek immigrants from Ionia, since their style is pure Ionian. Up to now scholars have identified circa 190 – 200 vases attributable to artists belonging to this group.
