Scavenger Challenge – October 2018 Assignment – Triangles

Our subject this month is "triangles." This could be a single naturally-occurring object like a piece of broken shell, or it could be something man-made like a traffic cone. It could also be something more subtle, like a beach scene in which three people form a "visual triangle" because they are standing at the points. In this case, the "triangle" should be immediately obvious to anyone looking at the photo. In other words, the three people occur as the elements of photographic (artistic) composition. The remainder of the photo should be relatively uncluttered. You want the viewer's eye to be caught by the three points.

I finished on the last day - yippee....!

This is detail from my rya rug, which hangs on the wall above the head of my bed. When I see all those colors streaming into my room like rays of sunshine, I feel cheerful.

The design of the rug is from a painting by Niels Nedergard (Danish, 1944-1967). The rug was bought in the Design Quest store in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in the early 1980's.

I had to test out my quilted pillow-making skills with one for myself first! This one matches my triangles quilt.

Christchurch's Transitional 'Cardboard' Cathedral was designed by Japanese architect Shigeru Ban and constructed on the site of the former St John's Latimer Square Anglican Church. The Cardboard Cathedral opened to the public on 6 August 2013 with a Diocesan Dedication Service on 15 August. It has seating for 700 and the Cathedral also provides a venue for concerts, exhibitions, and civic and community events. The Cathedral makes use of varied construction materials from cardboard tubes to timber beams, structural steel and concrete. It is the largest 'emergency structure' to be designed by Shigeru Ban. The triangular window design includes 49 panels and incorporates images from Christ Church Cathedral's original rose window.

I'm so pleased with this little quilt, sometimes the simple ones are best.

Read to quilt! I wasn't going to put on a border at all but decided it needed to something to make the pattern pop. I didn't want a large border, just something small. Since I love purple, and it is the least featured colour in the charm pack, I settled on a small purple border.

I bought one Moda 'Freebird' charm pack and created 80 half square triangles to make a wall quilt to hang above my desk. This is how I set out the quilt. At the time I was playing with chevron designs and rearranged the coloured blocks to get this pattern.

Triangles A polygon is a closed figure drawn with the help of line segments only. In other words, we can say that polygons are rectilinear figures. The line segments with the help of which they are drawn are called the sides or edges of the polygon. The points where two line segments meet to enclose a figure are termed as the vertices or the corners of the polygons & the two sides meeting at a vertex form an angle. Thus, polygons are closed rectilinear figures with a number of sides, vertices & angles.

I like the fabric in this, but I'm not so sure my sewing skills are going to be able to pull this little number off.

For some years Blue Triangle operated Essex Sunday contract service 622 between Harlow and Great Yeldham. RTs were most commonly used, but an RCL also appeared.

My 6 year old daughter heard me say I needed to find a triangle picture so she so sweetly helped me out.

Might not have been the way I was heading, but it was too sweet not to use!!
