Endlose Treppe
Versteckt in einem kleinen Hinterhof eines ganz normalen Bürogebäudes steht die ‘endlose Treppe’. Seit 2004 ist diese Treppe das Designobjekt – initiiert von der internationalen Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft im Stadtteil Schwanthalerhöhe. Der Künstler Olafur Eliasson hat schon für Highlights in der Metropole New York gesorgt (temporären Wasserfälle unter Brooklyn-Bridge) und für KPMG hat er seine Art von Kunst nach München gebracht. Die Treppe vermittelt einen endlosen Kreislauf von auf und ab und ist die einzige Treppe auf der Welt, auf welcher beim Auf- bzw. Absteigen nicht die Richtung gewechselt werden muss. Der Künstler nennt sein Kunstwerk ‚Umschreibung‘.
Hidden in a small backyard of an ordinary office building stands the 'endless staircase'. Since 2004, this staircase is the design object - initiated by the international accounting firm in the Schwanthalerhöhe district. The staircase conveys an endless cycle of up and down and is the only staircase in the world on which it is not necessary to change direction when ascending or descending. The artist calls his work of art 'Umschreibung'.
