Here is the earmark trend chart based on CAGW numbers. Democrats certainly deserve credit for their FY07 moratorium but they don’t deserve praise for what happened in FY08. Facts are stubborn things and the number of earmarks is UP from the previous two years. I realize folks like to compare each year to FY05 but that was three years ago and we shouldn’t allow Congress to get credit year after year for “reducing” earmarks just because the total is lower than it was in FY05. That’s just spin.
