Eind maart had ik voor het eerst in anderhalf jaar tijd de kans om nog eens op fotoreis te gaan. De bestemming was snel gekozen: Portugal. Dat heeft natuurlijk te maken met het oude materieel dat daar weer in dienst gesteld werd (en nog steeds wordt) om de tekorten op te vangen. In 2020 was ik al eens naar de vallei van de Douro geweest voor de diesels van de reeks 1400, en ondertussen heeft een aantal elektrische locs van de reeks 2600 de rangen vervoegd. Het plan was om eerst de elocs te gaan fotograferen en vervolgens af te zakken naar het oostelijke deel van de Dourovallei, tevens het mooiste deel van de spoorlijn naar Pocinho.
Na aankomst op de luchthaven van Porto was het zaak om snel de huurauto op te pikken en door te rijden naar Barroselas. Na een tijdje wachten in de zon bleek de trein een kwartiertje vertraging te hebben en dat was ongunstig want ondertussen schoven er sluierwolken voor de zon. Daarmee was helaas een trend gezet.
Op deze foto komt trein 853 uit Porto São Bento aan in het station van Barroselas. Na een korte stop ging de rit verder naar eindhalte Valença, aan de grens met Spanje. De trein is samengesteld uit 3 Arco-rijtuigen die de CP overgenomen heeft van Renfe.
