You wouldn't believe me if I told you, but I promise that she put the tree back the way it was when we were done, none the worse for wear.
Portrait view of colorful aspen trees in the Cottonwood Pass Area. Cottonwood Pass (elevation 12,126 feet is a high mountain pass in the Rocky Mountains of south-central Colorado, United States. It is located near the border of Gunnison and Chaffee counties in Colorado and is in the Sawatch Range. The area surrounding the pass is mostly forest, with the San Isabel National Forest to the east and the Gunnison National Forest to the west.
The Continental Divide is marked at the saddle point of Cottonwood Pass. The pass is closed seasonally due to heavy snowfall, typically from around October until sometime in May. When open, the pass can be accessed from Buena Vista to the east by following Chaffee County Road 306. Near the summit, the road name changes to Gunnison County Road 209 as it continues to the west, passing near Taylor Park Reservoir and continuing down into the town of Almont.
The majority of this road is paved, with the exception being the section linking the summit of Cottonwood Pass with Taylor Park Reservoir, which is gravel. When open, the pass is one of the few routes through the Sawatch Range accessible in a standard two-wheel drive passenger vehicle. Independence Pass is another such seasonal route through this mountain range, while efforts are made to ensure that U.S. 50 at Monarch Pass remains open year-round for all vehicles, barring extreme weather conditions.

My Self, My Family, My Community, My World: Family Trees
George Washington Elementary School

2nd Grade
This is an interdisciplinary project based on the 2nd grade social studies curriculum on geography, family, and community. Most of the focus is on inter-personal relationships. In this lesson, we created family trees and talked about what makes a family. The diversity in this classroom is terrific! We learned a lot about each student’s ancestry and heritage. The trees are done using a “resist” technique with cray-pa and watercolor. Once the trees were created, each student created tiny, framed portraits of their family members to decorate the branches of their family trees. “Magic Books” were then created from one sheet of paper. In the books, we wrote about our families. Feel free to look through them to learn more!

Located beside the main Rawtenstall roundabout, the Bocholt Tree celebrates Rossendale's links with its German twin-town. The sculpture is a symbol of unity between the people of Rossendale and Bocholt, whose civic symbol is the tree, and acts as a reminder to the people of Rossendale that they have friends in other parts of Europe. The tree is a symbol of life and natural growth.

Sharan Bispham, a Rossendale artist and community supporter, has again produced an amazing homage to the Christmas season by decorating the Bocholt Tree on Bocholt Way, Rawtenstall. The Tree was created by sculptor Bernard Tindall to celebrate Rossendale’s twinning links with the town of Bocholt in Germany.
Sharan has been dressing the Tree for some years, and over that time has celebrated many events including Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s day, The Olympics and the 60′s Festival.
The Bocholt Tree is now an Icon and symbol of Rossendale, thanks mainly to Sharan’s excellent work.

One of Crown Street Mall's Christmas trees given a little burst of extra magic through the wonders of photo-editing.
'Consumerism' for We're Here.
Children born of fairy stock
Never need for shirt or frock,
Never want for food or fire,
Always get their hearts desire:
Jingle pockets full of gold,
Marry when they're seven years old.
Every fairy child may keep
Two ponies and ten sheep;
All have houses, each his own,
Built of brick or granite stone;
They live on cherries, they run wild--
I'd love to be a Fairy's child.

Final painting... and look who showed up... The elder Treewomyn at the
base of the tree.... Who knew that they were there.... just popped up at
the last minute of the drawing.... They make a cosy threesome... don't
you think??
see my notes on each one of them..............
This is one of those paintings that had no preconceived tho't or idea but
just came..... one brush stroke at a time but speaks volumes about what
is real and sacrad to me...... womyn, earth, trees, magic, trust, belief in magic,
artwork, spontaneity, trusting the process.......
Only in pixels could you defy gravity this way. The budgies decided to create a tower of themselves. Immortalis decided to hop on top and balance his roots on their tiny feathered noggins. Cannot believe we call this a job ... lol. We love this place.

We called it the secret garden after we found it behind a cafe in Takapuna on the North Shore in Auckland. Dining under a huge plum tree. Magic!
Curiously, we never found it again.
That was in 2009.
Just recently I got a discount voucher offer for a Swiss cafe featuring a tree in its courtyard.
I was sure it was 'our tree'.
And yes, it was.
The grounds had been levelled, tiled court, more chairs and tables but it didn't have that secret garden feel anymore
