An Eastern Gray Squirrel feeds on bird seeds during Winter at Lynde Shores Conservation Area, in Whitby, Ontario, Canada.

The eastern fox squirrel (Sciurus niger) has been widely introduced outside its native range. In California, fox squirrels have been intentionally released multiple times since the 1890s. Over the last century this species has expanded its range considerably, and is expected to continue to do so. In some areas fox squirrels appear to be replacing native western gray squirrels (Sciurus griseus). One reason for this displacement may relate to fecundity—fox squirrels produce two litters a year whereas S. griseus produce just one litter per year.

Treesquirrel at the DIY Trunk Show

Pulaski Park Auditorium

This is from a morning walk I took on Sunday in one of the local state parks. This guy was knawing away on his morsel while keeping an eye on me.

Here is a map, I was in the Possum Hill area parked at the Nine Foot Road lot.

Have a great day, thanks for looking.

America's largest tree squirrel. It's almost extinct with only hundreds surviving in the wild. Unlike the much smaller gray squirrels that build their own nests in tree branches or in the eaves of houses, fox squirrels depend on tree hollows in mature forests. No forests, no squirrels.

We met up for dinner at Ras Dashen, it was Jen's first time with Ethiopian food. Of course she liked it!

Eastern Fox Squirrel, aka Bryant's Fox Squirrel or Fox Squirrel, Sciurus niger, taking refuge from the photographer in a big cottonwood tree along the Big Rapids Riverwalk, Big Rapids, Michigan, USA

Two Fox Squirrels were darting through the branches of a tall pine, chasing each other with bursts of energy and quick turns.

I photographed them in my yard, where they often visit to forage and play. This pair seemed especially lively, pausing now and then to size each other up before leaping again.

Fox Squirrels are the largest tree squirrels in North America. They’re agile climbers and highly adaptable, often found in both wooded areas and suburban yards like mine.

A very cute little Douglas Squirrel on the bridge at Lost Lagoon

For the first time in a while, we had the larger tree squirrels at our feeders. There were five of them at one point in time - clearly they heard from their cousins in Ann Arbor that I was a softie for squirrels. That was just a matter of time, I suppose! Cosmo and Wanda were enjoying it for sure.

I'm hiding while Preggers examines her baby that fell out of our tree during high winds Friday. We suspect the baby fell off a branch during a gust and hit the roof a couple of times before landing on the ground below.

i bought this yarn in austin at country hill weavers, oh, about two and a half years ago, and just a month ago finished this scarf. though it doesn't look like it, it's actually a lace pattern, and was a pain in my butt. but at least i like how it turned out.

i *heart* this ring, however, it's a bit too tight for my liking. meaning, i can wear it in the winter, but the summer would be off limits. it's a tight size 5 (odd, since my wedding bands are 5s). so, i put it up on my etsy site for purchase.
