Plan was for Stanage or Higger Tor but they still had their heads in the clouds so made my way to Surprise View.
Not sure about this as woodland isn't something that comes easy to me so go easy on me:)
Everyone who follows me on Facebook now knows where I spent the sunrise today because of my video. Namely at the famous bridge on the River Kwai in Kananchaburi in Thailand (for everyone who hasn't done this yet).
After I recorded the video and also had a photo from this side of the river in the camera, I wanted to take a look at the bridge from the other side. You can't imagine how surprised I was when I suddenly saw this sight in front of me as I entered the bridge.
At the beginning I couldn't even tell what that bright light in the middle of the tracks meant. Because I was still much further away and it was still pretty dark. But as I got closer I recognized the dog with the “glowing” face.
Luckily I still had my camera on the tripod, but unfortunately not equipped with my telephoto lens. So I tried to make the most of the 70mm focal length and crept up step by step in slow motion and took photos again and again. Always hoping that the dog would please please not move (and above all not stepping out of the light of the lamps).. Finally, 6 seconds of exposure time were required because of the darkness. This picture was the last in this series.
After this unexpected photo shoot, the guard let me pass without any problems. Apparently I made a pretty harmless impression.

Here you see (yet another) picture from one of the forests around Sebnitz. The photo was taken at the beginning of December last year. Back then, the snow that's now melting again wasn't even in sight.
When I go into the woods with my camera, it rarely turns into a long hike. Instead, I usually just explore a manageable area of the forest. After all, it's important to take your time and pay attention to the small and inconspicuous things that might be at eye level, above me, or even at my feet.
Once I've chosen a spot, I explore every single path or trail. This sometimes leads me to hidden places where nature has already begun to reclaim the area. I particularly like these kinds of places, even though I always have to be careful not to trip over a branch or get my foot caught in the brambles (which still happens regularly).
Walking the bridge along the way from my apartment to Central Business District, I have to cross a pedestrian walk way over the bridge so I took on every occasion my handheld Olympus infrared camera waiting for the right skyline to take a shot of the view from the bridge. A beautiful area to begin with, the bridge host an entry to a hiking and cycling trails that span from Adelaide Hills to Henley Beach, about 26K stretch. It is a super scenic trail for anyone visiting this area and it was a home for me and my wife to do 16K walking every weekend, I will miss this place when I leave here.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - Evening sunlight filters in to the Tongue River, lined with ice and boulders.
- www.kevin-palmer.com - There were all kinds of interesting patterns and shapes in the ice along the Tongue River in the canyon.
We met our son in Maui. He is a U.S. Marine and is stationed in Okinawa, Japan. We hadn't seen him for almost 2 years. So, we met halfway, in Maui! This was the sunset on the first day there.
- www.kevin-palmer.com - The trail through Tongue River Canyon was very slick and icy. But I was wearing microspikes on my shoes so I didn't slip once.
This was one of my better photos of the fire, that had broken out at Broadbent road scrap yard.
However I was unable to get any closer as the police had got there first and started telling people to go away. This shot was just before they started to clear me off.
