El edificio en cuestión es realmente una pequeña iglesia bizantina, que data, probablemente, según el plano y la técnica de construcción, del siglo XIII. Aunque se haya construido sobre los vestigios de un edificio más antiguo, no existe ninguna prueba arqueológica que haya podido remontarse al tiempo apostólico.
Los restos de la estructura descubierta se han fechado a los siglos VI y VII, sin embargo partes del asentamiento y del carbón encontrados en el sitio datan del siglo I. La capilla actual, la que fue construida encima de los restos originales, es el resultado de un trabajo de restauración terminado en 1950. Para que el sitio se transformara en un ámbito de veneración, la Iglesia católica lo declaró lugar oficial de peregrinación. La parte restaurada de la capilla se distingue de los restos originales de la estructura por una línea pintada de rojo.

Vicar Water Country Park
At the centre of the park is Vicar Pond, a large fishing lake that was created by the 5th Duke of Portland in the 1870s. In the past the lake has been used for boating and swimming but today it is a thriving course fishery (day tickets available). The park is also a designated local nature reserve.
The Green Flag awarded park has been transformed to heathland, woodland and grassland and offers spectacular views across to Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.
Entry to Vicar Water is free of charge although there is a voluntary car park donation charge of £1 if visitors so wish to donate.

TransFormation was created in 2007 with the goal of offering an annual intensive workshop for professional dancers. Throughout the last 11 years, TransFormation has become a landmark in the Montreal dance scene as a highly anticipated and indispensable event. Cherished by artists for its intensive format, TransFormation contributes to focusing on precise objectives over the span of a couple of weeks. It is also a rare occasion to meet, exchange and network with other artists from Montreal, Quebec, Canada and throughout the world, who all share the same passion.

TransFormation is a contemporary dance intensive for professional dancers, choreographers, professional teachers and emerging artists. A variety of technique classes, workshops and creation laboratories are offered on an à la carte basis encouraging the artists themselves to choose a programming which would best fit their pursuit of their unique artistic development.
Dancers develop their own distinct way of working, bringing a singularity and their own particular colour to the creations they take part in. Consequently, the contemporary dancer must not only explore new techniques but also new “states of body”. Transformation is a place that offers the opportunity to acquire and incorporate new tools, to improve critical sense and refine one’s personal aesthetic choices.
TransFormation brings together dancers from different horizons and with different views and interests. Together these factors make for a very unique and enriching experience. Every year dancers leave with an appreciation for the fluidity of interpersonal relations between the dancers, choreographers and faculty as well as the intense concentration of the workshop and the atmosphere of artistic freedom that is felt in the different studios during TransFormation.
The program reflects the dancer’s commentaries, views and interests in the new paths of contemporary creation along with the human and artistic experience of its director Lisa Davies and its founders Catherine Viau and David Pressault. The choice of faculty is based on a desire to offer a space of real transformation.

I posted a shot a few days ago of The Deep an aquarium on the banks of the River Humber in Hull. I was not expecting to post another so soon but this shot is rather different. I went to The Deep last night to watch a light and sound instillation that was projected onto the side of the building.
The work was called Floe it was designed by two British artists Anna Heinrich and Leon Palmer. Floe ‘virtually’ transformed and remodelled the architecture and facade of The Deep. The performance lasted about 15 minutes and the sound of ice cracking and waves breaking was incredible. Floe showed the geological forces and biological processes, which originally inspired the appearance of The Deep. It also reflected a sense of the rich aquatic life contained within the building.
The work is only going to be displayed for the next two nights. If you live anywhere near the city it well worth braving the cold to see it

This ring (made by my extremely talented wife) consists of 8 individual rings which in normal use form a stack below the mount which carries the stone, through which you poke your finger. However, they are cunningly hinged together so that they can unfold from their normal position and transform into a bracelet (shown here partially deployed).
The visible extent of the image is 3".

instead of wilting , with petals falling off as other aging cut flowers do, the hyacinth flowers started to become translucent and gelatinous and slimy with age! I had not seen this before, but then i've only had hyacinths growing in pots previously, not as cut flowers in a vase
As a conservative estimate, I've driven past this scene well over a thousand times in the last five years. It's one of those sights that's so ingrained in my routine that I stop seeing it.
I'm glad this morning's mist changed that.

Didcot Power Station, Oxfordshire - Even ugly looks good in the dark. A well recognised landmark in South Oxon, the cooling towers are due to be demolished this year much to the dismay of many local residents who've become accustomed to living with this landmark.
In photographing the "Boule" of CEMES, I wanted to capture the very essence of this monumental scientific architecture. The choice of minimalist framing and black and white enhances the geometric purity of this 25-meter sphere, while creating a dialogue between void and matter. The subtle texture of steel, revealed by light, tells the story of these decades of scientific research. I deliberately left a large part of the image in darkness to evoke the mysteries of the infinitely small that this structure housed. This refined composition transforms this scientific building into an abstract artwork, testifying to the architectural and scientific boldness of post-war France.
Context:
Built at the initiative of Gaston Dupouy and inaugurated in 1959 by General de Gaulle, the "Boule" (Sphere), as it is known, is this spherical steel building, 25 meters in diameter, an icon of CEMES, designed to house the 1.5 million volt electron microscope that operated from 1960 to 1991. While the original microscope was later dismantled, the electron accelerator has been preserved and still stands under the sphere's vault.

Commissioned by King Ferdinand II, the palace blends Moorish, Manueline, and Gothic influences into a single fantastical composition. The round tower, capped with crenellations and patterned tiles, anchors the sprawling structure, while the surrounding parapets and minaret-like spires add a whimsical, almost theatrical quality. Beneath the color and ornament lies a deep philosophical intent—an expression of the Romantic ideal that art, nature, and architecture could merge to evoke wonder and emotion.
Every angle of Pena reveals new contrasts: the soft texture of aged stucco against carved stone, the interplay of shadow beneath repeating arches, and the vivid saturation of yellow against a flawless blue sky. It’s a place where architecture transcends utility to become poetry—bold, playful, and unmistakably Portuguese.

Depuis 2001, les « Lézarts de la Bièvre » organisent tous les ans, le deuxième week-end de juin, une journée porte ouverte sur les ateliers d’artistes du quartier. L’occasion de découvrir une centaine de créateurs, peintres, céramistes, sculpteurs, photographes, …
Chaque année, un artiste est désigné pour baliser les parcours menant aux ateliers. De nombreux « vestiges » restent avec le temps. Une ballade dans le quartier de la Butte aux Cailles constitue un véritable parcours découverte des artistes graffitis de ce début du XXIème siècle.
Louise Delarue alias Louyz s’est lancée dans le street-art fin 2018. Mais elle a une double casquette et peint également des trompe-l’œil et autres fresques murales. Il faut dire que dans la famille le gène est omniprésent, on est muraliste de génération en génération : Son grand-père est Fabio Riéti et sa mère est Leonor Riéti. Alors la peinture elle connaît un peu. L’animal récurrent qu’elle a commencé à coller dans la capitale est le lézard. A chaque fois il semble sortir d’un trou du mur, on ne fait pas des trompe-l’œil pour rien
Elle a métamorphosé complètement la façade de cette maison particulière en la transformant en un lieu de visite de ce quartier de la Butte aux Cailles. Au premier regard on a l’impression d’être dans une jungle verdoyante amazonienne, mais en y regardant de plus près l’arrière plan, on voit bien que nous nous situons en région parisienne. Une magnifique réalisation qui nous transporte dans un autre monde, un peu moins urbain quand même

Estoy segura de que serías capaz de pagar por una cámara mágica que hiciera algo similar a lo que hago yo cuando meto magia en mis fotos.

Porque hay que ver, lo bien que quedan en tu foto de perfil. Seguro que alguna hasta la has impreso para poder verla en papel. Seguro que hasta cuando te han pedido una foto para mostrar quien eras, has utilizado una de las mías.
Porque te lamentas por dentro al pensar que se van a quedar atrasadas las únicas fotos en las que te gustas. Y ¿por qué será? Ah sí. Porque soy buena.
Porque he visto tu corazón y sé cuáles son tus complejos, sé cuáles son esos detalles físicos que quieres modificar. Y los he editado a placer para convertirte en algo bonito frente a mi cámara.
Que sí, que se te puede llenar la boca diciendo cuanto me odias, lo malvada que soy y las fotos tan patéticas que hago según tú. Pero bien que siguen ahí presidiendo manualidades, avatares, fotos de perfil de tus múltiples redes sociales. Y mira que ha pasado tiempo ¿eh?
Pero pensándolo bien, dejando aparte la hipocresía, supongo que en el propio ‘pecado’ llevas la penitencia.
Porque sinceramente, no sé qué es peor: si el hecho de, a pesar de odiarme tantísimo como lo haces, no poder terminar de desprenderte de mí y no conseguir que desaparezca porque sigo en muchas de las cosas buenas que tiene tu vida…
O saber que nunca nadie te sacará en una foto cómo yo lo hice.

Besides being a compilation of highlights from previous collections, this new collection also presented five striking outfits that evoke the feeling just before and during a free-fall parachute jump.

Glen Canyon, in southeastern and south central Utah and northwestern Arizona within the Vermilion Cliffs area, was carved by two rivers, the Colorado River and the San Juan River.
A reservoir, Lake Powell was created by the Glen Canyon Dam. Lake Powell emerged from a struggle over damming Dinosaur National Monument. The Sierra Club and its leader, David Brower, were instrumental in blocking the dam in Dinosaur. In exchange, they accepted a dam in Glen Canyon. Before the canyon was flooded, but after the struggle in Congress, Brower floated the canyon and realized what a tremendous resource it was. This experience transformed Brower's attitude towards environmental preservation, making him more radical and less likely to compromise. It was very similar to the experience of John Muir with Hetch Hetchy. For Brower, it steeled him for the battle over a dam in the Grand Canyon. Beginning in the late 1990's, the Sierra Club and other organizations renewed the call to drain Lake Powell in Lower Glen Canyon.
