The backside of the lap quilt is a train track with a pocket to hold a little train from the dollar bin at Target. (Since I had to mail this off to Jack, I used his little girlfriend as a model.)

Some attractions are just outside of Napoli. I took the train to Caserta and Pompei. I think Caserta was €4 and Pompei €3,30 from Napoli Centrale. Both about 40 min. You can get tickets from the machine at the train station or you can buy them online on Trenitalia website. Super convenient and cheap.

Trains are comfortable and not crowded at all (in October). For Caserta you take the train on the above ground platforms. For Pompei you must take the underground platform. It is a bit hard to find but just ask around and they will point you in the right direction.

I had stopped to take this photo near a crossing, so of course the engineer had to blow the horn. I took the shots and waved as they went by, and they waved back. For a minute I was transported back to yesteryear when I would pump my fist in the air out the car window in the hopes the engineer would blow the horn. For a moment I was six years old again. :)

The Canadian flags drew my attention towards this stall at the Southside Festival, which turned out to be a childrens' space train ride. Sadly there were no customers on what turned out to be a rather wet day but the showman was happy for me to photograph his train.
