Photographing a Test Train on HS1 in any kind of light is a hard thing to do. Eurotunnel have the contract to haul them with their Krupps Locomotives and they always go out at night after the last Eurostar and are back home before daylight. This one was booked back at D Moor at 0447 but I watched it on RTT during the night and it was running 30 minutes late which meant its seen here about 0510 in the morning with just enough light amongst the mist to record 0004 & 0003 on the 2312 D Moor to D Moor test train with it running up to Stratford International twice up HS1.Seen here dropping down the Freight Chord to D Moor at the end of its long night.

Southbound (east) Soo Line train passes the historic Red Wing, MN depot back in August of 2000. The station was built in 1904.

Caboose BN 12385 brings up the rear of a BNSF local outside of Jonesboro, AR. The train consists mainly of freshly rebuilt tank cars from the TrinityRail maintenance center about one mile east of this location.

Stuck indoors while I recover from a bit of a health blip and going through some fairly old images taken a few years ago and reworking them. Some I thought would be worth posting.
i love those long elaborate lectures where someone is telling you this long list of rules and why you should follow them and at the very very end of the speech they say something along the lines of "and sometimes you just gotta throw all the rules out the window and follow your gut". this picture isnt much different then those speeches in my mind. im always so meticulous about sharpness and clarity and all that good stuff yet sometimes i love the imperfections in pictures. this picture is super grainy, kinda out of focus, and has a tiny bit of motion blur yet this might be one of my favorite pictures from my past trip to NY.

It was the first time I've travelled on a Bombardier Dosto car in Poland and I still think it's one of the best trains to travel on. The Warsaw ones have less electronic information equipment, but they are used rather as S than RE so that's fine.
For Strobist: Gridded Stripbox elevated behind, two strip boxes on either side(left one behind model about 45 degrees and right one straight to side), beauty dish elevated front, 5ft octa camera left. Light mix of Profoto and WL's. All triggered by PW's. Processed in PS CS5.
