Traditionally an 81/48/81 working, the Tarago Trash Train from Clyde to Crisps Creek and return went through a period of change during 2009/2010, with members of the DL and 80 class making scattered appearances. By 2011, the standard motive power would become 81/X/81, although this is tipped to change again before the end of the year to double AN Class.

In this photograph, 8172, 8182 and DL50 are seen working 2122 empty garbage train between Joppa Junction and Goulburn. Even with the constant motive power changes at the time, it was unusual to see the two 81 class combined with the DL, as previously the train had mostly been seen with a 48 or 80 class as the second unit.

Balinese Traditional boat, called jukung, is a small wooden Indonesian outrigger canoe. It is a traditional fishing boat, but newer uses include "Jukung Dives", using the boat as a vehicle for small groups of SCUBA divers.Essentially of Balinese origin, the double outrigger jukung is but one of many types of Pacific/Asian outrigger canoes that use the crab claw sail traditional throughout Polynesia. Whilst this sail presents some difficulties in tacking into the wind, actually requiring to jibe around, a jukung is superb in its reaching ability and jibe-safe running. They are usually highly decorated and bear a marlin-like prow.

A Dutch cap or Dutch bonnet is a style of woman's hat associated with the various traditional Dutch woman's costumes. Usually made of white cotton or lace, it is sometimes characterized by triangular flaps or wings that turn up on either side. It can resemble some styles of nurse's hat.

The road from Samarkand to Shakhrisabz—Timur's birthplace—winds through the scenic Takhtakaracha Pass, a mountain range that rises to about 1,700 meters. It's a beautiful but twisting drive through rocky hills and arid slopes.

At the highest point of the pass, we found a lively roadside market. Local vendors sell traditional snacks, dairy products, and medicinal herbs, many of which are home-made or foraged in the area.

We stopped there to stretch our legs – for me, the perfect moment to snap a few pictures. While my travel companions bought snacks like nuts and other local treats, I wandered off with my camera. Most people I approached were happy to be photographed, posing proudly or flashing a big smile and a thumbs-up. They were proud to be part of this living Silk Road tradition.
