One of these days, I'm going to get this right and get the shot I really, really want. I can vision it, but can't quite get there! ,,yet
I remember when the trains used to run here, back when I was a little girl. We would go and place pennies on the tracks, just to flatten them out, although I remember someone telling me could derail the train with them, and the excitement of thinking we had that much power was a thrill, too. The trains did quit running here, and it could possibly be that there was too much of a build-up of melted copper on the rails that caused that...
They say the trains will run again, and have blocked off streets and irritated the heck out of a lot of townsfolk, but I've only heard the whistle once and I can't swear it was the train.
I guess we will see if it happens..

I managed to grab a couple of shots whilst I was at the track day today, this is a quick handheld panorama showing a collection of some of the ferrari's that were available for people to take out on the track.
There's only one Lambo in this shot though as they were by far the most popular cars to head onto the track with during the course of the day.
10 shots handheld, stitched using CS5 for a change to see how it fares. Not convinced on its ability to level horizons as well as Hugin, but that's probably more to do with my CS5 skills in fairness.
Edouard Louis Joseph, Baron Merckx (pronounced [ËmÉrks]) (born 17 June 1945), better known as Eddy Merckx, is a Belgian former professional road bicycle racer, considered to be the greatest pro-cyclist ever.
The French magazine Vélo described Merckx as "the most accomplished rider that cycling has ever known,"[2] while VeloNews of the United States declared him to be the greatest and most successful cyclist of all time.
Merckx, who turned professional in 1965, won the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia five times each, and the Vuelta a España once. He also won all of professional cycling's classic "monument" races at least twice each (with 19 Classics victories in all). Merckx was World Champion once as an amateur and three times as a professional, and he broke the world hour record before retiring in 1978.
Since then, Merckx has remained active in professional cycling through various commercial and sporting projects, most notably by manufacturing and selling his own line of bicycles, Eddy Merckx Cycles.
Look carefully at the track geometry roughly half way between train and platform.....
I should add that this picture was taken from the public crossing at Ince and Elton station, and no trespass was involved.

Walking along the train tracks on the edge of Green Lake offered some great scenery and a nice spot to dip our hot feet in the cold, alpine waters.
