Das unter Denkmalschutz stehende zweigeschossige gotische Gebäude ist eines der ältesten Rathäuser in Mitteldeutschland und geht in seinem Kern bis auf den Anfang des 14. Jahrhunderts zurück. Die erste urkundliche Erwähnung ist aus dem Jahr 1310 überliefert. Der Bau des Rathauses erfolgte am Kreuzungspunkt zweier Handelsstraßen.
Das Gebäude präsentiert sich als Werksteinbau. Es ist 25 Meter breit und 17 Meter hoch. Zum Teil ist es verputzt. Die östliche Außenwand des Rathauses steht, dem Verlauf der dort auf den Markt einmündenden Breiten Straße folgend, schräg zum Gebäude. Bedeckt wird das Rathaus von einem steilen Satteldach. Die Fassade des Rathauses ist üppig mit Efeu bewachsen.
Due to renovations, the town hall will be closed from summer 2025 to summer 2027. You can find more information about the plans for this historic building on the municipal website. In the summer of 1438, a major city fire severely damaged the town hall. The city council decided that the new town hall should be freestanding and chose the market square, then still a marshy peat bog, as its new location. On the right side of the building, you can see the chimes with mechanical puppets, installed in 1961. The main character in the puppet show is Floris V, who granted Gouda city rights in 1272. Every two minutes past the half hour and the hour, you are treated to a beautiful spectacle.

Zierikzee, then located on the island of Schouwen, received city rights in 1248. In 1304, a fleet commissioned by the French and Dutch defeated a Flemish fleet in the naval Battle of Zierikzee.

That green thing in the sky slightly to the right of the townhall? I have no clue. Did I maybe catch a small meteor or a planet?
On a last sidenote: Sorry for cutting of the weather vane. It was so dark I didn't even see that thing!

Als Herzog Otto der Strenge 1292 die Stadt Celle nach seinen Plänen anlegen ließ, entstand auch das Rathaus am Markt.
Das Gebäude ist eindrucksvolles Zeugnis der Herzog-Herrschaft. Es wurde im 14. und 16. Jahr-hundert ausgebaut und reich verziert. Der Nordgiebel ist ein Meisterwerk der Weserrenaissance. Im Ratskeller befinden sich noch immer gotische Kreuzgewölbe.

Stadhuis van Pamplona (Spanje) hoofdstad van Navarra.
Gebouwd in 1753, de gevel in 1755.
Deze gevel is het enige dat overblijft van het gebouw uit die tijd. Het heeft echter een barokke smaak in sommige details, zoals het ijzeren balkon en de sculpturen die verwijzen naar Prudence, Justice, Hércules en Fama.
Het interieur van het gebouw werd volledig afgebroken, waarbij een prachtige barokke trap van José Mazal verdween en in 1951 werd herbouwd onder leiding van de architect José Yárnoz Orcoyen .

... prangen an den Wänden des Innenhofes vom Baseler Rathaus. Ins Auge fällt eine Skulptur, die eher römisch aussieht.
Hierzu habe ich einiges herausgefunden, was unter anderem unter die Rubrik "unnützes Wissen" fällt ;-)))
"Die Statue des römischen Feldherrn Lucius Munatius Plancus wurde vom Bildhauer Hans Michel aus Strassburg geschaffen. Michel war nach Basel gekommen, wo er schon bald unentgeltlich das Bürgerrecht erhielt – zum Dank schenkte er Basel 1580 die Skulptur aus Stein.
Da die Statue auf einem hohen Sockel prominent mitten im Innenhof des Rathauses steht, gehen viele Besuchende davon aus, dass der Römer mit dem Goldhelm der Gründer von Basel sei. Dieser Mythos kann aber mit Sicherheit widerlegt werden ...
Übrigens: Wem die rote Spitzenunterhose mit Goldrand von Lucius Munatius Plancus auffällt, fragt sich vielleicht, ob die Römer wirklich solche Unterwäsche unter ihrem Rock trugen.
... Mit ziemlicher Sicherheit entstand die augenfällige Rot-Gold-Kombination der Unterhose von Lucius Munatius Plancus bei einem Neuanstrich mit Ölfarben bei einer Renovierung um 1900."

Mein lieber Fotofreund Paul zeigte vor kurzem ein sehr schönes Bild des Basler Rathauses. Als ich es sah, erinnerte ich mich daran, dass wir vor inzwischen fast sieben Jahren gemeinsam dort waren und ich nicht nur Bilder von außen, sondern auch von dem unvergesslichen Innenhof im Archiv liegen haben muss.
Bin dann gleich mal auf die Suche gegangen und wurde fündig...
Sicher hat Paul noch viel mehr Insiderwissen als ich über den interessanten Ort.

die Pappmaché-Riesen, die sogenannten 'Gegants'. Sie spielen eine wichtige Rolle in der Folklore-Kultur der Dörfer und Städte auf Mallorca.
Die Riesen werden in der Regel von traditioneller mallorquinischer Musik - mit Sackpfeife, Flöte und Trommel - begleitet.An dem Treffen nehmen neben den "Gegants" auch Tanz- und Folkloregruppen teil.

the papier-mâché giants, the so-called 'Gegants'. They play an important role in the folklore culture of the villages and towns of Mallorca.
