From our circular walk from Hound Tor to Hayne Down and Bowerman's Nose. You gotta love those granite outcrops!
Owler Tor is a gritstone rock formation at Lawrence Field on the eastern edge of the Peak District National Park, England.
From a recent hike along Dr Blackall's Drive, a lovely walk along the Dart valley. Across the valley is Bench Tor and Venford Reservoir. Two large crows were circling the tor when we approached, made the wild landscape even more mythical!

I have been for a little roadtrip through some of Australia`s Alpine areas for a few weeks . This was one of the few days I locked in as I was meeting Tony Brown from Canberra to explore some more of Kosciuszko NP around the Main Range and Ramshead . My brother in law accompanied me on the journey so we headed up Mt Kosciuszko first as he hadn`t climbed it before and then headed over to North Ramshead to the semi frozen tarn and tors .We had a beautiful clear morning but the wind was picking up as we climbed Mt Kosciuszko , the rime {ice build up into the wind } was amazing .We could hardly stand in the wind on top of Kosciuszko , I found myself being tripped by my leg being blown into the other numerous times . As we arrived here the weather changed and we had to wait for breaks in the cloud as we were flat out seeing the tor at this distance most of the time in the whiteout but it did contribute to the wintery mood . We were certainly well looked after with timing and conditions here .As the light started breaking through I shot a couple of panos and it all disappeared again .This day capped a great trip .We were planning to stay for sunset and some night shots but shortly after this we didn`t see the sky again so we wisely started heading back in some challenging navigational conditions . We were planning to hike the main range track the next day but it started raining the next morning .
We ended up hiking about 30 klms that day, we did about 160 klms on the trip many with laden backpacks to explore and photograph some areas and reached many peaks.
We drove a little over 5000 klms also
This is a seven shot stitch

Didn't give myself enough time to get to the car park at Mam Tor as i got stuck in fog on the way over. Only just managed to get to this spot to catch the sunrise. (Would have liked to have been there 30 minutes earlier.)
Maybe next time !...
Great Staple Tor
Another shot from a morning at Great Staple Tor on Dartmoor a few weeks ago.
I was hoping for a bit more high cloud in the sky to give off those lovely pink colours, but as the weather report lied to me we ended up with just a few bits hanging around.
I get a lot of people asking me who placed the rocks like this, and without boring everyone with a science lesson, I've found a great fact sheet with the whole process of how they were formed. You can find it here...

As much as I appreciated comments and feedback I would request no Awards or flashy gif comments, please. They will be deleted. Thank you.

The path across Hathersage Moor to Higger Tor from Over Owler Tor. The abandoned, domed millstones in the foreground are of an early type.

Tony and I wandered up Saddle Tor this morning, quite late by our standards but it was only a recce really. Anyway, the views and the play of light and shade as the clouds passed overhead were too much to resist, so we didn't!
3 shot pano.
The description for our hike last Sunday promised some of the most stunning views over Dartmoor from the top of Bench Tor. As you can see from my photo it was misty and drizzling as we arrived at the top so no spectacular views for us this time. We had a blast anyhow and will return for sure!
1st shot of the day. It was fresh to say the least walking to the top of Mam Tor. Glad I had all my layers on!! So peaceful and quiet just Skylarks song on the air and the sound of the wind gently blowing over my ears... (Gentle as in force gale winds) Isn't it great to be alive!! ;-)
After waiting about an hour for the low cloud to lift I made my way back to the car.
I made the mistake of following the fence instead of sticking to the path, the snow drifts here were really deep and I ended up falling into one of them. After getting back to my feet I got this shot.
All in all it was a great few hours and I missed the chaos at the weekend.
I ventured out quickly after work for a chance to escape and photograph the sunset at Higger Tor, Peak District
