Self-portrait I took because my friend wanted me to see what I could come up with, since I normally don't shoot them. So I took a bit of time the other day and tried to set something up. I added the toothbrush because I was in my bathroom and it seemed like a good prop. Dental care is extremely important people. Colgate should use this for an ad.

Came across this fence while out for a drive the other day. It has hundreds of old toothbrushes tied on to it.
It was funny to reflect on an object I use daily. Right now especially since I am in the process of getting dental implants, the toothbrush could not be more essential.
ODC: daily object
The boys' first toothbrushes! Like the manual says, always brush after a meal.

Source: The Art of Bon Echo, by Robert Stacey and Stan McMullin
“Bon Echo Inn on the Mazinaw Lakes” is one of the finest Canadian artist-produced posters from any period, a rare example of the happy marriage of design and state-of-the-art technology. The parasol-shaded passenger in the canoe adds an oriental touch to an otherwise robustly posterish treatment of the Mazinaw Rock, giving a human presence to the landscape while indicating the scale. The flat patterning of the sunlit and shaded areas of the cliff and the angular trunk of pine in the foreground suggest that Jackson was familiar with Japanese wood-block prints.
At Merrill Denison’s request, Jackson also designed a brochure and letterhead for the inn, featuring the great rock, with a stippling effect achieved by flickering paint on to the drawing with a toothbrush.” (see the letterhead elsewhere on this site).
Jackson also painted the great rock in winter, seldom done at the time. “I’m very glad the place is to be painted in its winter garb by a fine painter,” wrote Merrill Denison to Muriel Goggin in February 1924, shortly before Jackson’s arrival at the Inn. It is clear from this letter that Merrill found Jackson a good companion. “Jackson’s a joy,” he observed, “An ample man who has read, who grasps life and is a profound painter. His influence is …stimulation. He is really painting the place for the first time and will get some notable canvases.”
Jackson’s painting later produced a five-colour poster by Rous and Mann. Denison hoped that the poster would be extensively circulated by the Canadian Pacific Railway.
I was about to throw away this no longer used toothbrush when I realized that it was black. And it lights up! I got out my tripod and did a 2 second exposure so that I could catch the light. (The light shows through the beak and eyebrows.)

I couldn't have a candy themed party for children without a reminder to brush after sweets! I found this packaging idea on Chica and Jo's Flickr page and blog. It's meant for lifesavers but I just adjusted the length for a toothbrush and added Mentos (the brush wouldn't stay in there by itself ). I found the toothbrushes in 4-packs with travel caps included from Dollar Tree.

"T" Ordinary Object. T is for Toothbrush.
The challenge was to photograph an ordinary object and make it beautiful or extraordinary. You know what I chose. But I think it turned out more cartoon like than beautiful. What do you think? This was a challenge with StudioKaufman.
On this bristles of a used toothbrush adhere epithelial cells from the gut (red) and bacteria (green, yellow).

toothbrush + toothpaste case tutorial!
ps, I love how impeccably clean my sink looks, but it's totally not.
I am kind of obsessed with the color scheme of my toothbrush. Orange is my favorite color and especially this shade of orange. I never would have thought to pair it with dark silver until I saw this toothbrush.
Also, this is my first attempt at doing a French tips manicure. I used hole-punch reinforcements to do the tips.
The dark silver color is LA Colors Color Craze in Tropical Storm
The orange is Revlon in Mad About Mango
