These images are from two very similar projects that I've just helped my friends with. They want to be able to hold bike frames on their alignment tables by the head tube. They both purchased used bench centers, and we had to make bull nose centers for them.
The fit up needed to be very close, so we were working to within a few tenths.
The other complication was that one of the centers on each set was spring loaded and utilized a rack and pinion to withdraw it... so we had to mill those rack gears.
So this how it ends...
I'm making a slow transition to being a bike repair shop regular. I fixed my bike seat tonight and filed down a bent tooth on my chainring. The tools are kept in old typesetting filing cabinets... I liked that.

More lighting experiments on a variety of danish neolithic, mesolithic and paleolithic tools.North American. Personal collection.
This is a Bosch GSB 14,2-2-LI cordless drill from their 'Professional' range.
Which is just as well as I loathe using cheap or inferior tools.

The Li-Ion battery recharges very quickly and doesn't suffer from the same memory effect as Ni-Cad batteries. The chuck is an Auto Lock type, meaning the drill spindle is automatically locked when the tool is at standstill, then you turn the chuck with one hand to lock and unlock - no two handed 'chinese burn' actions needed with this drill!

The drill is sitting on a high visibility orange tough PVC bag made by ICF Grimsby. Originally designed for carrying newspapers in, but makes a ideal bag for carrying tools and equipment in.

Chelsea provided us with notebooks and pens, and a set of flower cutting sheers to use during class. (they worked a lot better than my kitchen scissors. surprise.)
I have never used this tool, but I believe it's used where a great deal of tension is intended, such as a wire "hose clamp".
This was a gift from Bigfooter Roger Knights.

The tools used for my latest project. I've been doing a couple of surprise gifts this week, both crochet. I mainly knit, but I learnt to crochet a few months ago and really enjoy making small crochet items.
More new toys - Aldi drill bit set. My original drill bits were bought in Woolworths for £5 and were for a hand drill. Most have survived being used in a Black & Decker, but it was time to get some replacements and a nice neat storage box.

J. Nooitgedagt & Zonen, IJlst, The Netherlands, manufacturer of woodworking tools, was founded in 1865.
In 1998 the company was taken over by 'Record'.
The factory closed in 2003.
New Total Tools hardware store at Thebarton. Note the Designer Direct customer car park only sign, which is a few years old. This was originally Cash Converters, until in 1995 it became a thrift shop called Mr Bankrupt's Dump House. And early in 2001 it became The Good Guys, which later relocated southward to Mile End five years later. Then in 2006 it became Designer Direct, but because of the tramway extensions rendering its lease non-renewable (I suspect!), it closed four years later and now this new hardware store was opened in early 2011.
