A well kept abandoned barn sits at the top of a farm driveway, once the center of activity of a farm family. Decades ago, many farm families were large and provided inexpensive labor for their parents. Young parents looking at a brood of youngsters probably thought they had help for years but as we all find, everything is too soon done in life.
I spent almost half an hour waiting for this Black-shouldered Kite to start hunting on the cold winter morning. I suppose warming up in the sun was more important and it tested my patience.

Yesterday's amazing sunrise, taken a few minutes prior to the one I posted yesterday and from a more northern angle
People who know me, know I am not a crowd person. On the Edge platform, I found this to be utterly chaotic and too many people to have to fight for a NYC view.
Ahhh... it's Monday. I didn't even pick up my camera at all last week. So sad! I missed it so much!! I am hoping we have our computer/ internet issues worked out and now if I could just get my photoshop to load back on my computer... grr!!

Another one from the series "Subcarpathian detours".
ST43-228 with a load of scrap is passing Strzyżów nad Wisłokiem station. August 14, 2011. The train couldn't stop here because as you can see, the train wouldn't have fit between semaphores even being on the longest track of the station.
During the closure of the section Tarnów - Stróże, trains of full length - up to 600 m - had to be diverted on the lines where the train length limit is smaller. Just like on the line no. 106 (Rzeszów - Jasło), where the normal length limit is 400 meters. Long trains could be overtaken or passed by at Boguchwała, Przybówka or Babica stations, where the tracks are longer and 600 m long train can stop there. And these stations with old signaling - Frysztak , Czudec or Strzyżów - couldn't handle long trains so the trains had to pass them by.

ST43-228 z wahadłem złomu bierze na biegu stację Strzyżów nad Wisłokiem 14 sierpnia 2011 roku. Musi na biegu, bo jak widać, skład nie "schowałby" się nawet na najdłuższym torze stacji.
W czasie objazdów "kryniczanki", odcinka Tarnów - Stróże, pociągi pełnej długości - do 600 m - musiały zostać przetrasowane liniami, na których obowiązująca długość jest dużo mniejsza. Jak właśnie na linii 106 (Rzeszów - Jasło), gdzie limit długości była ustawiony na 400 metrów.Długie pociągi mogły być wyprzedzane czy krzyżowane na stacjach Boguchwała, Przybówka czy Babica, których tory pozwalały na zmieszczenie takich składów, natomiast stacje ze starą sygnalizacją - Frysztak, Czudec, czy Strzyżów - musiały być przez takie pociągi przejechane bez postoju.

Really liked it when it was a rough sketch on the wall, (that is my favorite stage of a piece, and feel that is when a piece has the most energy and raw style without all the make-up) and watched optimism slowly fade throughout the day... the fill was supposed to be a series of horizontal blurs with much less white... ended up being a bunch of busy-looking lines... (I wish I had a darker outline color)
I did have a good time though, and thats what counts... watching 40 kids literally SWIMMING in the street when they cracked a hydrant... The scene in wildstyle when they pushed the reporters broken down car didnt have shit on what was happening down the block.
