'Forgive me, Gandalf', Frodo murmured, rubbing his eyes. 'I did not recognise you. You have changed in ways I do not understand.'
'Who can fathom the minds of the Valar?' the wizard replied. 'The skein they weave spreads wide, far beyond the vision of the Istari. This can only be the path they have decreed for me. Although I fear something to be awry.'
'What is that?' said Frodo.
'I cannot find my pipe.'
“Faërie contains many things besides elves and fays, and besides dwarfs, witches, trolls, giants, or dragons; it holds the seas, the sun, the moon, the sky; and the earth, and all things that are in it: tree and bird, water and stone, wine and bread, and ourselves, mortal men, when we are enchanted.” ~ J.R.R. Tolkien, On Fairy-Stories
Far over the Misty Mountains cold,
To dungeons deep and caverns old,
We must away, ere break of day,
To claim our long-forgotten gold.
-The Hobbit
When I think about Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit, especially The Hobbit, I always think about the food. It's pretty cool to see all the different Middle Earth food.
Mr. Bliss is a children's story written and illustrated by J.R.R. Tolkien. He first wrote it to tell to his own children. This book has his handwritten version of the text alongside the illustrations, and it also has the text typed out for those who have difficulty reading his handwriting.
I read this for the first time about a year and a half ago when I was wandering around the library, and then my brother gave me this copy for my birthday. I like Mr. Bliss's pet girabbit, a cross between a rabbit and a giraffe.
I'm a big LOTR fan... so geeky, I know... but so good! This quote is a good reminder to me when I begin to worry about not having a specific plan for my future. Just because I don't know where I'm going, doesn't mean I won't end up in the right spot!
Hoping to start a noir-inspired series involving subtitles and Tolkien quotes about light. Somehow, this is my reaction to the election of Donald Trump. I am outrageously disappointed in the country that is, apparently, supposed to make me proud.
Only a month till The Hobbit film is released so i thought its was time for another Tolkien still-life.

Found in the graveyard next to Stonyhurst School where Tolkien visited many times. He taught there on occasions too.
This area is said to be the inspiration for Lord of the Rings. Looking at some of t he local trees it isn't surprising.
