Toadstools Formations, UT

These formations are easily accessible. Just a short 1/2 mile hike off of US Hwy 89, between Page, AZ & Kanab, UT. I hit these on one of my many trips to the area in 2019.

There are a number of photography oportunities here. I hit the area around mid morning. The light was pretty good. the "theater" of where these rocks sit are all south facing/exposed, so I think any part of morning or later afternoon would allow proper light to shoot most of the formations.

We have had a few days of unusually warm weather which has confused mother nature a bit.

Project for September 2013 Bustle & Sew Magazine - vintage cotton spools and some fabric scraps.

Yummy! Dark chocolate cake, strawberry mousse filling, whipped cream frosting and buttercream details. For more info on the "making of" visit www.charmandwhimsy.typepad.com.

Grand staircase -Escalante National Mounment

This is one of many toadstools in the Paria Area. We had just gotten done hiking 18 miles through Buckskin Gulch. Even though we were tired, conditions looked good for sunset, so we hiked into the toadstools right as the best light was starting to hit. It was awesome just watching this sandstone turn vibrant shades of red as the sun dropped close to the horizon.

365/6 Moments in 2012 Not today's photo but I reworked it today. Does that count?

This was taken at Chankanaab in Cozumel earlier this month when we celebrated February Fool's Day. Looks like I'll be playing catchup again. Try to get around to say hi tomorrow for sure!

In Grizedale Forest. This Nikon 28-300mm super-zoom is amazing - one minute you're shooting faraway peaks and the next, a toadstool no more than 2 feet away. Modern cameras make this so easy too - this is at f/8 and ISO 6400 and it works just fine for a small web image.

This beautiful family of toadstools is currently the attraction for the kids on their way to school. I think they look rather peaceful.

Sunset at Toadstool Geologic Park, Oglala National Grassland, Nebraska. This is one of the many unexpected charms of the Great Plains Trail.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - After rain the day before, some of the trails at Toadstool Geological Park were still quite muddy.

This the first view one gets of the Toadstools from the mile-long trail.
