We shot The Toadstools , near Kanab, Utah in the daytime, then returned to shoot it when the Milky Way was visible. I realized that I needed a warmer jacket and while exciting, it was painfully cold. Interestingly, Venus rose while we watched the Milky Way cross the sky and created an eerie optical illusion. Had not it been pictured on our cameras in one place, our eyes saw it jumping around the sky like no earthly vessel would have been able to accomplish. It had light stars, like sun stars, but more delicate and wavy. Quite eerie and wonderful. Here's a composite made up of a stacked exposure combined with a long exposure of the foreground (thanks to Cindy for teaching me this technique) and an exposure of the sky, showing Venus to above the horizon. I'm researching warm coats and welcome any suggestions. I have an arctic weight coat, but it is too large and bulky to travel with to all but he most extreme environments. Any recommendations?
I noticed these toadstool guys sprouting out of my fence post - think I need to replace my fence. The only problem is the last time I replaced a bit of fence I broke my knuckle and couldn't hold a camera for several months so maybe I'd better get somebody in to do it for me.
Oktober - Pilzzeit
Fly agaric - symbol of good luck and harbinger of autumn
I went for a little rummage in the bushes at lunchtime and found some little beauties. So delicate, so proud, I didn't want to touch them, but leave them to savour again..............when I can return with a tripod. And I used far too shallow a depth of field too. But I shall soon return for another go and a bit more exploration in the bushes and undergrowth. Great place, the Bollin River Walk
After an usually long hot dry summer in Scotland the mosses, lichens and ferns are all springing back into life and now that it is autumn there are bewildering varieties of toadstools popping up throughout the woods.
