Hard to find, but very rewarding when you do! This guy sports a beard that's truly funky. His eyes carry the same spotted camouflage as his skin. He's about a foot long, and is aggressive after you bother him with flash photography.

I know that everyone that has a camera and has seen the splendid toadfish has a picture like this, but this is my splendid toadfish picture! One of 8 I had the fortune of seeing.

First fish I ever caught from the Kayak.

Paradise Reef. Night Dive. You can hear these guys croaking before you see them, hence the name.

are only found in the reefs of Belize. They like to hang out in holes waiting to ambush some unsuspecting small fish.

Tormentos Reef. Juvenile Drum--one of my faves. Very hard to catch a good photo of.

The 'unique to Cozumel' Splendid Toadfish.

又稱蛙魚或蟾魚(toadfish)。躄魚科

(Antennariidae)躄魚屬(Antennarius)

形狀奇特的底棲魚。棲於暖海的岩石

間和海生植物間。體長達20公分,具極

佳保護色。皮膚鬆弛有疣狀突起。胸

鰭用以在海底爬行。頭前端有絲狀物

用以誘捕獵物。毛躄魚(Antennarius

hispidus),亦屬之。

This Splendid Toadfish seems to have a fever blister.

BRIAN HIRTEN/THE NEWS-PRESS........ A dead toadfish floats in the water off Vanderbilt Beach in Collier County while John Whitcomb of Naples sits by his fishing pole. Marine creatures of all kinds have been turning up dead and alive near the beaches.

"Hey. Psssst! Hey! You got that lure close by for me to chase? In your pocket, maybe?"

This is a rare fish mainly only seen in Cozumel Mexico. Very cool human like teeth on them.

The oyster toadfish make their safe arrival at their new home, located in the WetLAB area of the River of Life Exhibit Gallery on Floor 6. Visitors are already very interested in our new arrival. "Ooohhhh cool, what's that in there?"
